Since it sounds like the other current threads will be deleted at some point, I will pose my question here. |

I actually like both Phyllis and Sharon, but tend to lean a little towards Phyllis. |

I think Phyllis's strength is one of the things Nick loves about her. He is not always as strong as he could be and I think that balances them. There is no doubt that Nick loves Phyllis and as far as sl if they do stay together....they have the mag, there is always kid and parent problems. And at some point Nick, or possibly Phyllis will cheat. |

Quote stardustangel: Since it sounds like the other current threads will be deleted at some point, I will pose my question here. I'm not here to argue in favor of any particular couple or woman. I know who I like and why, but I'd like to know what s'l's some think will be in store if Phyllis and Nick just ride off into the sunset? It seems that if Sharon or Jack isn't involved they have nothing to write for them. I know some feel they have tremendous chemistry and all that but I just find it hard to see them as being a super couple, along the lines of Nikki and Victor. You know destined to be together no matter how many times they part ways? Maybe it's just the history that Nick & Sharon share and the many storylines they've had over the years. Or maybe I'm just biased but most agree Phyllis is at her best when she's being a schemer, and I just can't see her continuing to be this watered down fake version of herself forever. At some time she's going to be compelled to commit another crime, or do some things that nick won't approve of. Will he stand by her? Will either of them keep their vows and not lie to one another (Phyllis) , or cheat (Nick)? Phyllis plays the role and can't be herself. Only Jack, Jeff or Deacon seem to be compatible with a woman like her. Nick, IMO, likes the sweet girl next door types like Sharon, Lily, or maybe Tracy. Just naming them for personality types. I am not saying Tracy & Nick would make a good couple or that Phyllis and Jeff should hook up! Lol. Although Nick looks fantastic and very masculine, he's somewhat weak, and I think he needs a softer woman. Phyllis is too strong for him and seems mismatched to me. Good Good ? You have here, Ride off into the Sunset (NOT) their marriage has had a dark cloud over it since the beginning. Jack closing the door to Sharon’s room when she asked were still friends was the best thing that happen for them. I thought he was gone when he told her (things would never be the same between them) so I did not buy the I want to be the Daddy bull (Don’t know why the s/l even went their). Even though Nick & Sharon have been divorce they have had a continued intimate friendship neither will let go because they still love each other (Like Nick told his father He can’t let that woman go). Super couple! Hummm guess whoever likes whoever the most but Super Couple they are not in my book. Nick already stood with her through Schemes even though he did not like it he Stayed. Nick is already on Lie Patrol (He has yet tell her about the Baby Faith). The Vows have never been honored from day one IMO!Train Wreck+Train Wreck+Train Wreck = P3 Nick being to weak for Phyllis (NOT) He wasn’t too weak when she hooked up with him, because if that’s the case then they both ride that WEAK trail together. |

The Phyllis of old that her dissenters keep living will never be back. The Phyllis character has changed, no angel but who would want her to be? Calliope, I agree with you mostly. I think Phyllis attracts nick with her strengths and magnetism. It's sort of the opposites attract thing with those two I suppose. I just think that at some point they'll tire of trying to be something that they're not. Nick has to be the big strong alpha male for Phyllis and she sort of has to downplay her strengths and stay on her best behavior (or cover it up) for them to work. I understand that Phyllis' character has changed somewhat over the years and that she most likely will never the be the old Phyllis back when she was kicking up dust with Danny, Cricket, Paul etc. But she's still one of those who doesn't mind breaking the rules, even break the law if she feels it's justified. Like Jack or Victor. They could give a flying fig about the law or who gets hurt, they just do stuff. Nick has never been that way. He's more of a play by the rules kinda guy. That's what I really mean. As far as s/l's go, you're right there could be writers' block for both pairings, but it seems like with S&N we'd probably get to see more of Newman stuff, Nick's family conflicts, them dealing with Noah/Eden, which would display their personalities more. With P&N, I think the mag and the kids stuff would get old. I know some will feel I'm being a hypocrit on the kid s/l thing but I think Phick's claim to fame is being what some feel is "sexy" not the "home is where the heart is" kinda stuff. I'll admit, I don't care for Phick, but I'd rather not see them doing the cornball "Christmas gift opening" scenes or "kid b-day party" scenes. That seems too far fetched with them. I cringe when they try to do the cutesy stuff b/c although Nick has always been a cornball with bad jokes, Phyllis is not that type. Sharon seems more goofy so that type of stuff goes over better with them to me. The more I type the more I realize that the reason I don't like Phyllis with Nick is because he makes her boring! Her character is so much more dynamic without him. And Nick being in this pairing has done nothing for him IMO either. The writing has turned him into a complete azz, and he just pales next to her character to me. He seems to stand out more, in other storylines or with other people. I guess we'll see what happens through the end of the year. I just want things to speed up a bit and become a little more eventful. Most days are plenty of snooze material, with little sprinkles of delight! |

Let me say this, I am a Sharon fan first. And I love Shick. I was trying to be unbiased when I posed the questions so I would get real responses without them being overly sarcastic and therefore tainted. I agree with your post about the state of P&N's relationship. It's pretty foul, IMO. But anyway, I'm not trying to say Nick is all together weak. He has shown weakness when it comes to be monagamous, truthful and at times in business especially when it comes to ol Vic. But he has strengths also. I've seen him fight against the entire Newman clan when they didn't approve of Sharon and etc. I'm saying he comes of as not the one who wears the pants in the relationship between he and Phyllis. That's all. Bottom line, I think Nick belongs with Sharon, and Phyllis belongs with Jack. Okay there, I said it! |
