No offense to Sharon, Billy & Nick BUT for all of them praying in the chapel RE: giving signs about their forbidden affairs(while still married to somebody else)what was that all about????
Sharon praying to God for her baby to be Nick's & thanking HIM after she opened the envelope. She should be asking him for FORGIVENESS that the baby she's carrying was conceived w/ 3 different men and forbidden affairs!!!

Nick crying on his disappointment on the dna test result He should also ask for forgiveness, sleeping w/ Phyllis while married to Sharon & now sleeping w/ Sharon while married to Phyllis!!!

And Billy & Mac announcing their feelings to each other in the chapel while he's still married w/ Chloe!!!!

Something is reaaaalllly wrong here!!!!

I didn't even think about that until I read your post. You are absolutely correct it is a bit sacraligous. Interesting that doesn't bother people but they freak over a gay s/l? How come no one ever prays for forgiveness in the chapel but go running there when it suits their purpose and then show no real remorse for their sins as if god were rewarding them. I'm no zealot but it is a bit questionable.

I agree with both of you! They should all be asking forgiveness for their wrong doing instead of thinking that God is Santa Claus who is going to wink at their misdeeds and give them their wishes anyway. None of these people step foot in church and carry on all sorts of unscriptural behavior - but yet they think that they are going to be rewarded because they want so badly to get the results they think will fix everything? Yes, God is forgiving - but He isn't stupid. Lying and cheating your way out of a situation isn't the way to go. Wrong is wrong.
As for being upset over the gay s/l - I'm every bit as upset over all the bed-hopping and sleeping with people you're not married to (doesn't matter gay or straight). If everyone kept their pants on and their skirts down unless they're married there would be a lot less anguish in the world.....LOL....and probably a less watched soap.

Sharon's baby was conceived with one man.
For me, it's nice to see characters turning to God for guidance and help; at least they show some faith.
It's amazing that these characters are called out for doing this while other characters who maliciously and deviously cause pain and suffering to so many others are held up as paragons.

Church (or in this case the chapel) is FULL of sinners. We are all sinners, in fact the whole town of GC are sinners. Why don't we just brand an adulturous letter "A" onto all the men and women who have CHEATED in GC like Nathaniel Hawthorne's THE SCARLET LETTER. Who would be safe from the adulterous letter "A"? Or, maybe we could just STONE the women like they do in some societies? How many women would be left then?

I certainly didn't mean that everyone at church is perfect - far from it - if we were, why would we need to go?
What I AM saying, though, is that it's a little hard for the viewer to believe that these people are truly repentant when they get up from their knees and immediately throw themselves into the arms of someone they have no business being with, or go and tell more lies (for whatever reason).
If your child tells you he's sorry for breaking a lamp and then immediately turns around and smashes another one - how sorry do you really think he is? He may be truly sorry the lamp is broken, and truly sorry for the consequences of his actions - but sorry he actually broke the lamp? Hmmm.

Mac seems to have changed a lot, too. She's starting an affair with a married man. I know, I know. They have a history and he doesn't love his wife, etc, etc. There's always an excuse, but that still doesn't make it right. When you look at the whole picture in the cold light of dawn, it's adultery. The 'old' Mac would have waited until he signed the divorce decree. I still feel sorry for Raul, too.

Your illustration reminds me of the "holier than thou" politicians who point their fingers at members of the opposing party when they are "caught" in an adulterous scandal and rant and rail. Lo and behold they get caught in an adulterous scandle themselves. One recent example is a politician who was a member of THE PROMISE KEEPERS who follows certain principles one of which is to build a strong Christian "marriage". Another and the latest example is a politician that left his state w/no one in charge for FIVE DAYS(during FATHER'S DAY)while he was with the "girlfriend". Still another is a man who has a wife dying of cancer and had a mistress who became pregnant. There are scandals on BOTH sides of the political spectrum and have been both heterosexual and homosexual(one bordered on sexual harrasement of Congressional aides even). While you may notice that I did NOT mention the political parties of my illustrations it was done so for a reason as this is not the forum to do so. But my point here is only that people in real life go to church and pray for all kind of things and then go right back out and have their "adulerous" affairs. Am I condoning this behavior? I agree with most of these posts here. My question is why have these characters go to the chapel and beg for forgiveness and beg for a child not to die and then turn around and commit more sins. This is a soap and naturally they are not going to stop doing what their doing but why have this scene at all. They just go back to what they were doing and sometimes even worse things happen. Also I do agree that all kinds of people go to church but that is why they are there. The church is kind of like a hospital. They come to get better and a lot of them do just like the people on the soaps do. Go out and do wrongs again. The characters on the soap continue to do wrong because it's a soap but in the real world, most people want to do better and seem to learn from their mistakes and a sincere person wants to change. At least real people do this for a while or as best as they can. On the soaps they go right back to whatever they were doing.
