Quote Soulsistah: I guess when a person goes through one tragedy after another regarding their children (Cassie, Summer, "Faith"), it's easy for them to feel that God is punishing them because it seems so unfair.

Rashy did the same thing no? Stating that she was being punished for all the bad things she's done, etc...which is akin to the "why me?" syndrome, IMO.

LMAO! Maybe they are being punished and rightfully so.

Yep, Karma applies equally to all. However, I don't see the death or illness of a child as punishment befitting the crime. Unless one were to say in Nick's (and Phyllis') case the possibility for him losing Summer befits how and why she came to be and all the pain and hurt that caused others.

No, losing a child is definitely too harsh, however, some self-reflection would be a good thing for these characters, if you know what I mean.

Quote Sunnyflower: I think watching any of these heathens praying is laughable. Nick can't understand why the good lord is being so cruel to him? Really? Really?

As another poster said, the only think Nick should pray for is strength to be a better man.

Anyone one can pray at any time.....no one should feel they can judge anyone if they do.......that judgement is reserved for Him......

Many have fallen but it takes a bigger person to bow down and pray!

I can and will judge judge Nick very harshly as he angrily stares at the crucifix and cries "Why me? Why me?"

Well it is your perrogative

I'm all for praying and I do think you are right that people should pray as they wish, BUT, in the context of this soap and all that, Nick came off somewhat self-entitled and spoiled in the scene that I caught, like he was being persecuted or something....And that didn't sit right with me.

It is your "perrogative"......so you can stone him as you wish......just like they wanted to stone Jezebel......context or not.....

PS: It didnt' sit right with me either when Phyllis got all preachy consider how she became a Newman....I had to laugh at that....amazing the shoes on the other foot an dshe wants to chat.

That's why people like Phyllis who live in glass towers, should not throw stones - as she's always readily doing to others.

The thing is, I think that ever since Nick's amnesia subsided he's slowly been reflecting on his life. I think he really started reflecting more since Paris, and while his behaviour in the past few months has been inexcusable, I think Nick has been doing nothing but self-reflecting since he "came to his senses" and "woke up", hence why he chose to be with the love of his life and be with the woman he never stopped loving. He knew it would hurt Phyllis and Summer, but people get hurt when there's a divorce - a sad fact. Yet he said he wouldn't apologize for wanting to be with the love of his life(Sharon) because the alternative was to remain in a marriage he wasn't commited to - just for the sake of not breaking up another family and he said he'd rather spend the rest of his life alone in a hotel room than do that . I think that was a brave and courageous move on Nick's part because ultimately, staying in a marriage "just to keep the family together" is a recipe for disaster and misery for all involved, when your heart isn't fully in it. No, I think Nick did a fair amount of self-reflection and hence why he's so devastated right now by both circumstances - Summer's illness and the paternity of Sharon's child.

It's the other characters involved in this s/l mess who need to take their blinders off now too, as Nick has done (for now anyway).

I think that's why her lie is so effective...no one doubts she's telling the truth, because she isn't known to be a liar or a manipulator - like others.

Quote clb6: Why should Nick even be thinking about ANYTHING but the fact that his DAUGHTER in in a coma and fighting for her life! NOthing should matter to him right now but that!!!!!

I think Shron is the worst person ever, she always thinks about herself no body else. She isn't thinking about all the
people that will get hurt with her lies. Nick, Phyllis, or Jack not even her son Noah. Jack is the person she is lying to he will be the one a loss. Sorry to say but i wish the baby would not live. That would be a wake up call for her to clean up her act. Sharon need serious help.

For the first part of your statement, I don't know how long you've been watching this soap, but what Sharon has done is pretty mild compared to many of the other characters. Also, she isn't only thinking of herself; when she saw what was going on with Summer, she decided not to tell Nick so that he could be there for his daughter. I do agree with the last part of your statement. She didn't think what would happen with her lie until it was too late, and now she is feeling remorse.

Yeah, I think it's clear Sharon wasn't thinking about herself here. If that were the case, she would have told Nick the truth because she wanted to be with Nick and wouldn't care that his other kid(?) was lying in a coma. If she were truly thinking of just herself, she wouldn't have factored in Phyllis or Summer at all. So that statement just isn't true, IMO. If anything, Sharon's quest to protect Nick at all costs , is extremely short-sighted, not selfish. She's not looking at the consequences of her lie and her decision is actually cruel to both Nick and Jack in particular. I hate that she's done this and won't pretend otherwise because it is so out of character to the point it's not believable. But there is no way I will ever agree that Sharon operates out of selfishness, especially in this case. I wish, in fact, Sharon was a little bit more selfish and thought of herself and what she wants first, like so many of the other characters do. Seems the motto on this show is if you're selfish and self-centred, you get what you want. Those who are self-sacrificing and considerate never can be happy.

Quote Lilamoor: I disagree. I didn't think it was disgusting at all.

I, too, think it was disgusting because he was supposed to have his little girl in a coma on his mind, not the paternity of Sharon's baby.

How did this subject turn over to something negative about Phyllis she is not lusting over the wonderful life she would have if her daughter wasnt lying in a coma like Nick is!!!

Quote KeepingItReal: How come I haven't read that Phyllthy prayed yet....didn't she go to the alter for her miracle child.

Whatsup with that.... I know she got a lot of skeleton in her closet but don't she feel a need to pray for her daughter....

Please "enlighten" me that she did go to the chapel and prayed.......

Shes to busy being by her daughter's side making sure she not away when she wakes up, also waiting for Nick to stop slipping out of the room to call Sharon or come back from the chapel whining for one second about why he wishes he was the father of Sharons baby!
