Sharon and the black bra straps

I don’t know how it happened, and I certainly don’t understand why, but it is. Showing off underwear has become acceptable fashion. Thongs showing above low riders, bra straps showing under all manner of blouses and tops, boxers barely above pants that I don’t know how they stay up. |

Thanks for bringing this up. Lily has the same look going right now. Doesn't anyone in this city own a strapless bra? I know I'm showing my age now, but I remember the days when we warned each other that our straps were showing. |

JMO That trend started way back in the 1980's with MADONNA and her LIKE A VIRGIN tour and just escalated from there. Fashion is CYCLICAL and often borrows from other years, time periods in history, and goes to extremes. It is the choice of the costume designer with or without the input of the actual actors involved. Sharon's black bra straps today and a couple of weeks ago some people were bothered by Phyllis black blouse w/out the bra that when she bent over one could see all the way to CHINA(if want for a better word). Blame the costume desiners, it's their fault probably trying to be provacative. Who knows? |

I can't get over the fashions nowadays not just on y/r but everywhere. I know when I was younger having your bra staps showing was a big no no. And does any one remember underalls that didn't give you underware lines? Now even my adult girls wear pants that show their thongs. Just bugs the heck out of me. |

Public schools in our area have a dress code - uniforms! Can't imagine a high school girl wearing a skirt so short that.....nevermind...or showing black bra straps when wearing a halter top....as we saw on Lily. Lily however is a young woman in her twenties and if she prefers that look...to the softer classic look she used to wear..so be it. These days some toddlers are even dressed like Madonna Wanna Bes....... |

About the thong thing; I havent' seen too many of those lately, but I'm sure they're still around. I never cared to see those, either. Once again, I'm showing my age, but they always reminded me of sanitary belts, and I bet if the girls who are wearing them now, even knew what one of those was, they'd burn their thongs today! |

LOL@Oreo - I know what you mean about the little kids wearing stuff that you'd see on a skid row hooker! Thankfully my granddaughter wasn't allowed to wear stuff like that and she is doing the same with her two little girls - modest clothes only. I can remember my grandmother back in the early 50's saying that pretty soon the girls would be going naked. Not far from the truth! Most times on Y&R the actresses are dressed pretty well but guess they all have their unfortuante wardrobe disasters that either show off their underwear or their "lovely lady lumps". |

I defense of the "thong show" There was a time that I didn't know where to get jeans high enough in the waist. But not to high either. I was giving everyone a nice show of my undies until a good friend brought it to my attention. I, red faced, pulled up my pants and went out and made sure I bought the right pants. Sooo embarassing. |

Blame the costume desiners, it's their fault probably trying to be provacative. Who knows? Exactly. I would much rather see Sharon's black bra straps, than Phyllis without a bra on any day!. I was too outdone that they let her go on the show 2 weeks ago, with NO BRA on under that skanky loose dress top, leaving her ta-ta's out for all to see when she bent over. Now that's Tacky and something to complain about!

I HATE seeing bra straps!!!! Can't stand it! It is not cute and takes away from the outfit. How hard is it to wear a strapless bra? It's not! |

Thank you. There was no mis- understanding. My "exactly" went to the point you made about your being correct about trends in fashion and to blame the costume designers for poor clothing choices. You also beat me to my first response when I read this post when you meantioned the previous uproar about Phyllis top that showed it all when she bent over. Like I said earlier, I'd rather see Sharons' black bra straps than Phyllis with no-bra on. Its not meant to be a fight, however, Phyllis does seem to go bra-less alot, and it most certainly is NOT atttactive at all. She should wear a bra. Some folks complain that Sharons' bras are always black, or like this post, you can "see them". My complaint is the no bra stuff. Its seems like Phyllis is the only one that does it. Even Amber wears a bra. Besides the Sharon vs. Phyllis stuff, probably won't end anytime soon. It is what it is. Thanks for the reply, though
