I knew all the Cane fans would still be on his side. In their eyes, the man can do no wrong. He could set a homeless shelter on fire on Christmas Eve and the Cane fans would smile and say, "But he had good intentions all along..." And now to top it all off, they are going after Lily and Neil... "If Lily really loved him she would understand....." and "How can Neil judge Cane..." BLAH BLAH BLAH! What have Lily and Neil done to deserve criticism? Lily had her heart stomped on by someone she thought she could trust and Neil is just doing what any father would do, defend and protect his daughter.

Its time to face the facts and realize Cane isnt as perfect as everybody thought he would be! If denial were bullspit, we would be knee deep around here!

Cane fans are correct about one thing, Cane will eventually come out of this smelling like roses. The writers will make it so that he will get the sympathy of the viewers. I for one wont fall for it immeadiatly. Cane will have to work hard to get back into my good graces and many other viewers as well. I do believe in forgiveness and redemption but it has to be earned!

BTW- Cane fans: Please dont hold out hope that Cane is somehow related to ANYONE in GC. He is not. That is not a bad thing! The gene pool in GC has become quite shallow!

Although I like Cane and I like him with Lily, I believe Neil had every right to be angry with him and so should everyone else because he came into their lives under false pretenses and continued to participate in the lie. After doing this trust has been destroyed. I hope over time Cane will be forgiven. Will Phillip be
forgiven for creating this giant mess? We will see. Also someone needs to explain how Cane could possibly be related to Delia? Please no more DNA switching it just doesn't make sense!

Longhorn the misconception that you and others that oppose Cane have, is that you constantly try to say and believe that his fans think he's perfect. I and I'm sure other fans, never thought or said Cane was perfect (Cane said he wasn't perfect, and was a better person having met and fell in love with Lily). No soap characters are perfect, so we would have to be a little short sighted to think such a thing. I like many characters including my favorites Cane and Lily, flaws and all. Just as any fans of any characters, yes we as fans will defend our character, as that is our right. Furthermore the reason I like Cane is because at the core of this character, he is a decent, kind, and loving person. Him lying about this whole thing doesn't blind me to these facts. The only thing as I've said before that Cane took from these people was love and understanding his background I can in many ways see why he seized the opportunity to have a family and be loved (that's what most of us desire). Also Cane's actions doesn't detract from what others have done and now supposedly their supposed to get a pass because Cane lied and he's the real bad guy (sarcasm). This for me is the one part of the s/l that irks me. In the end yes I like Cane and I forgive, excuse, anyway you want to put his wrongs, because the good for me far out weighs the bad.

In thinking about Neil, he needs to support Lily, but stop babying her. She's a grown woman, let her deal with her husband and her life in general.

Oh Charme! How I love our back and forth on this issue! You probably dont think Cane is perfect but from others post, some do! All you have to do is go in the Non-Bash Cane Thread and you would think Cane is the second coming of Christ or something!

I agree Cane has redeeming qualities...he didnt take the Chancellor fortune so at least we know he wasnt in it for the money. But, a lie is still a lie and until he can prove himself trustworthy again, he will be a liar in my book! But , I do think he can be redeemed...its just gonna take awhile!

Lilly needs to grow up and stop running to Dad everytime she hits a bump in the road. how many times has she moved back in with dear old dad b/c she didn't want to deal with what life was throwing at her. It's annoying. You want a baby and you can't take care of your own life. It's also annoying that Neil won't let Lilly deal with her own problems. He thinks he has to fix it all.

Yes but neil doesn't let Lilly run her own life. She a married women and needs to learn to grow up, deal, and make her own decisions. You can't move in with dad everytime life isn't perfect.
