Many characters have been villified in front of the whole town as you put it. Cane is not the only one. If this were a spoiler thread I would discuss some of the spoilers that Candace has already given us. Suffice it to say that there are many suprises to come and Cane will not come out of this whole ordeal as you seem to think. This is a soap opera and it is about the drama and it is also about forgiveness and that will happen with Cane and Lily. They will get back together and I think you know that. Cane has ALWAYS only wanted one thing and that is FAMILY. Do you really think that he will give up so easily? The man played RUGBY, one of the most brutal sports there are, it is in essence football WITHOUT pads. His nickname was HURRICANE. He will not give up on Lily and he will have a suprising ally in all of this. I also want to remind you that Y&R constantly has shown that LOVE doesn't have to be biological to be there. Neil loves Lily and she is not his bio kid, Jack loved Nick & Noah, Nick loved Cassie, TGVN loved Cassie, Nikki loved Cassie, Jack loves little Summer & Daniel, nick loves Daniel,and Brad loved Abby. i'm sure there are more but I just can't think of them. Katherine & Jill will come around because they both do love Cane and right now they just feel BETRAYED. Time heals all wounds so give the characters a chance. Give Lily and Cane a chance. Many characters have done far worse than Cane you are correct and Cane is here to stay. The story is just starting w/Cane & PC3 there is much to come. There is the whole backstory to come of Cane & PC3 and I think many will be suprised at the outcome. Bad things happen to "good" characters, it is the way of the soaps. The viewers have seen that Cane has a good heart and that he is looking for a family and this EXACT sentiment has come directly out of his mouth just recently in a conversation with JILL. Cane gave money(a large amount) to an orphange which is a "key" to his true character. As SWEET PATOOTIE said it is about the ride because when your favorite character is down, it is about them coming back and proving themselves whether it is through trust, love, or redemption for example. A character coming back that is manna to Y&R. The ultimate comeback kid: ROCKY. Cane and ROCKY are alot alike, don't you think?

I am still waiting to see how this one turns out. Cane was villified during and after Chloegate, the last wonderful storyline in which he played a major role. Chloe and Billy came out of that one without any damage being done to their characters at all. AND they and their offspring were and are embraced by everybody including both the Chancellors and Abbotts--especially Mama Jill. I do think that storyline will somehow tie into this one, but I still cannot understand how those two "screwups" got off so easily.
