Age.Children are SORASED from toddler to preschool. Go away to summer camp 12 years old and return 15 (Summer and Noah).
Women (Katherine) become old and have mini strokes. Victor remains virile and impregnates his younger girldriend. Victor, Jack and Neil all date, have affairs with and marry much younger woman. Phyllis is a few hiccups older than Nick and labeled an "old hag". Jillis a "Cougar" for having a ONS with a younger bartender. Men are not tagged with derogatory names for having relationships with younger women. "Cougar" has probablymade it intoWebster and Wikpedia! Unbalanced and biased in GC and in life.

The Glass Ceiling is something Victoria Newman can't even break! There she is working every day @ Newman while her brother always considered it a part time job until he left. How is she repaid? Victoria get to Chair a Bd Mtg for the sole purpose to intimidate Colleen and gets more responsibility added to her workload - reopening the Art Gallery for the Newman Foundation while her brother gets promoted to the COO position! Nick treats his COO position like a hobby. Nepotism at Newman exists only for sons.
Jill held the CEO position at CI. A woman, Katherine, gave it to her.

Kids Divorcing Parents. Noah suggests "Emancipation"after seeing his parents irresponsible untrustworthy behavior. Premature but understandable from his point of view. Also understandable is a judge, in a prudent decision, orders a guardian be choosen for Summer. Rediculous? Not when the charges are brought (even though a lie the judge doesn't know this) that Phyllis harmed her child on purpose to attract Nick's attention. Heather (stupid twit) probably persuaded the DA to allow the charges because the evidence proves - based on Nick's behavior - Phyllis may have done this horrible deed out of desperation because Nick was ignoring her and her child. A lie. Yes. Now prove it. What evidence? Nick does not live at home and has taken up residence with his mistress at the GCAC without filing divorce papers. Not a placeto raise a child while it's mother is in jail. His son Noah has not resided with him for a long time. Any judge would be wise to appoint a guardian until the facts are investigated andcleared up. The judge, like Noah, are on the same page as far as Nick's behavior is questionable.

Abortion was a option Ashley took many years ago. Now never does a women in GC even think about her options when finding out she is pregnant. Phyllis, Chloe or Sharon (even when 16) never considered it. Birth control isn't used either. S/L's depend on pregnancies. Babies R Us is there motto. It is all they ever do.

Victor bought and is funding a Stem Cell Research Lab. Now there is a modern scientific discovery drawn right from life. Also drawn from all life is Ashley's unborn baby. Maybe her fetus can be donated for research. The irony of that!

Whose The Daddy? S/L's, the sex of an unborn (Faith) and identifying the very identity of a person (Cane, Jill & Katherine)have all been dependent on another recent scientific discovery DNA Testing. Why not use DNA testing to discern the medical condition of an unborn being carried by a woman over 50 (Ashley) and sired by an elder man (Victor)? Age puts additional risk of medical, neurological and other birth defects. Why not test the unborn to see if it is a homosexual or heterosexual. Yes there is a gene to determine this. If PC III is gay the gene came from his mother, Jill. It is a scientific fact that mothers carry and pass on the gene. Sorry Jill but maybe your father deserted you for the same reason your son, PC III deserted his son.

William Bell's legacy is not dead and buried. Y&R continues to address life issues reflecting the scientific discoveries and their impact on society as well as the issues facing women and men's power over them. Yes YR is ART IMITATING LIFE

Oreo even though your post often conflict with mine and they really pee me off at times (LOL), I must give you credit for your talent of creating thought provoking posts. Good job

As for your post sometimes Y&R twists the realities of life a bit too much for my taste. Case in point too many DNA screw ups.

Y&R twists the realities of life a bit too far at times I agree. But that is what soaps do and why we watch - to ecape the realities of life! In doing so soaps have inspired thought provoking conversations over backyard fences, afternoon coffee breaks, and dorm room debates in the days before the internet and message boards. Today men as well as women are viewing daytime drama and opinions are shared with people from all walks of life in locations far from our own not just with neighbors, friends and family. Bringing real life issues to the s/l's urge us to open our minds and debate our stand on all of them. Sometimes we change our mind. Other times we change the minds of others. Always we open our minds to issues never thought of or if thought about see them with a fresh perspective other than our own. Grandma and her crowd would have loved the opportunity to enjoy the message boards and the internet as well as all the scientific discoveries and advances human rights have made that are depicted on Y&R!She would be frustrated too. I can see her yelling at the flat screen TV for the women to behave like ladies and not ladies of the night LOL.
