The only reason Jack married her was to become the President of Jabot. He and Diane had sex on the eve of his wedding and thereafter. Like I said before, she was young and naive, and clueless that Jack would cheat on her.

Prior to marrying Jack, there was no indication of Patti like she is now. She was a teen who fell in love with the playboy Jack. She gave Jack her virginity at 18. She had a mental breakdown after she saw Jack and Diane having sex then it was one thing after another. She totally flipped out and has gone off the deep-end.

Quote twocentsworth: Spoilers are out that viewers will finally be in on MaryJane shown to be Paul's sister Patti Williams...previously involved with Jack, losing his child, attempting to murder him, leaving town...I really didn't watch in the early days of Patti Williams and didn't know had a sister...what I'd like to know is if Patti was as conniving, evil-minded, dramatic, drastic and "fatal-attractionistic" as she is today as MJ??? If she was as forthright (for a Soap character) as she is today, should probably would not have lost Jack to some other "mistress" at the time...Jack would have been afraid, but, for a Soap lover, she would have hit a home run...I think instead, she was weak, and that's what lead Jack to stray to begin all of this...today, she's seeking revenge, but to hurt him or win his heart?? She really has a funny way of showing affection!!!

So, Patti goes into his office threatening to kill herself because she is so distraught. Jack starts pleading with her not to off herself and to shoot HIM instead. So "SHE DOES" THREE TIMES. She goes into a fuege state and doesn't remember anything. Her dad is the police Chief and has to have her arrested, trial, and she gets off. Leaves town, comes back to try to get back w/DR & he has married Traci by this time. Leaves town to go to be near her brother Steve in Washington D.C. (1984) Sorry, Daisy Jane I didn't know you were on or I wouldn't have posted. We were probably posting at the same time. SORRY......................................................
