Eric Braeden
Birthday: 1941-04-03 |
Born Hans Gudegast in Kiel, Germany, during the Second World War, he was an outstanding athlete who excelled in track-and-field events and won himself a scholarship to Montana State University. He traveled to Los Angeles in hopes of finding a distributor for a documentary film that he and a friend had made, but instead found that his accent and debonair looks helped him win parts as an actor. First appearing with his real name in many supporting roles in both television and film, he changed his name, at a studio's insistence.
Hans, now known as Eric Braeden, continued to work in TV, movies, Broadway and theater for the next decade. He continued to take the odd role in film while his portrayal of 'Victor Newman' shot him to the top in Daytime stardom!
Braeden lives with his wife Dale Gudegast, and enjoys playing tennis, at which he is very accomplished. He recently spent nine years on a film project of his own, "The Man Who Came Back."
