What can I say about Michelle Stafford except that I love, love, love her, even more so, after hanging out with her in her limo on Saturday afternoon in my home town of Toronto? Picture seven of us piled into the back of a limo, dishing about her Emmy nomination, the differences between herself and her alter ego, Phyllis, and her love of country music! It was a blast! Soaps.com received word on Friday, May 9 that Michelle Stafford was heading to Toronto the next day to a local flea market to answer questions and sign autographs. Fans were to purchase glossy photographs of Michelle for a nominal fee for her to sign, with the proceeds of the sale of the photographs going toward ending breast cancer. Since I'm in Toronto, I had to do some fast work in contacting a few of my pals at Y&R as well as Michelle's publicist to request some time to chat with the ultra popular actress the next day. Everything worked out in the end, as it usually does, and Saturday we headed to the Fleastival Flea Market in Etobicoke, Ontario (a division of Toronto). Five of us piled into the limo along with Michelle and her publicist, where Michelle got to know ProudFM's afternoon drive host, Shaun Proulx, Patrick Marano (a ProudFM Intern), Gregg Brown (Y&R news correspondent), Rob (friend and Y&R fan), David Fix, (some time SOAPS.com reporter and obviously, the Editor-in-Chief's husband) and myself… And looking back on it all, I can't help but wonder if Michelle thought we were all a little mad! We chit-chatted idly about our previous night's plans, and Michelle mentioned that she had slept on the red-eye on her way to Toronto (a normal thing for her), and Gregg explained that the rest of us were at his place the night before (AKA, the Chancellor Mansion) having a Y&R Barbeque! Gregg Brown, for those of you who listen to my Friday Y&R guest segment on ProudFM know that he is known as Gregg Brown-Chancellor-Abbott-Newman-Winters-Bardwell. Like Michelle, you may be wondering what a Y&R party is. This is simply a barbeque for those who watch the show and work on the Y&R segment on the radio show. We discussed Soaps.com and how our staff does their best to ensure our message boards are well moderated, and how we discourage and remove any actor and actress bashing from our forums. Michelle was clearly impressed with this and said, "The internet has made a turn in the last six months… What with the growth of Youtube, and the way people splice up videos, there is no control over it! You can completely make someone look like a moron by cutting up a video and make them look completely different. You know, you can't do that on TV, you'd get sued," she exclaims. Though she doesn't frequent them, recently, she found herself on a message board in the past and mentioned how upset she was to read a few posts that got personal with her and Sharon Case. She doesn't go to the boards anymore, and we got a taste of why, when she verbalized her displeasure at reading how they'd pit Sharon against Michelle, comparing the two actresses in a derogatory fashion. Being that they're friends outside of "Genoa City", one can see how this would cause some annoyance - and this is precisely why we don't allow this kind of talk in our boards - like it or not! Actors are real people too! In fact, while she was answering questions later inside the flea market, Michelle was very clear when she asked the fans not to post things like that on the boards! When I asked Michelle her honest perspective on the whole storyline with Phyllis, Nick (Joshua Morrow), Sharon (Sharon Case) and Jack (Peter Bergman), and the dynamic of them working at Restless Style together, she told me, "I think that you have four people who've hurt each other a lot, so you have to play that dynamic. You can't play that they're all okay with each other. They've hurt each other a lot…. I have boyfriends from five years ago that I'll be cool with, but the minute they say something that reminds me of something they did, I'm like, 'Hey!' And it brings up everything in your life, so you have to play the reality of the relationship." Recent posters questioned why Sharon Newman was so distraught when she witnessed Phyllis hunting for anniversary gifts during The Anniversary Show on May 1st. I asked Michelle to voice her thoughts on this and Michelle, as well as myself, thought it was understandable. "That's kind of cruel. I sort of tried to play it, like when the cake came out… Oh, okay let's put it away, because that's kind of cruel and insensitive. I think the fans who understand Sharon's point of view are the Sharon fans." I argued that I like both Sharon and Phyllis and didn't label myself a "Phick" or "Shick" fan, but even I understood Sharon's point of view! Michelle says she doesn't get involved. "I'm not a Phyllis and Nick fan. I'm just doing my job… paying my mortgage!" Well said!

The Bold and the Beautiful - Bold and Beautiful Actor Sean Kanan Responds to Arrest Warrant!

Actor Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon, The Bold and the Beautiful) has issued a statement through his publicist to Soaps.com, in which he responds to reports from late yesterday that a warrant had been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for a progress hearing on a past DUI charge. On August 18th, 2007, the actor was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on two alcohol related charges: driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol of .08 or greater. At that time, Kanan posted $30,000 bail and was released. Sean's publicist explains that he has done everything to comply fully with the court's requests, and only learned about the arrest warrant from friends who saw it on television news. He says Sean immediately contacted his attorney, Martin Godin, who issued the following statement, "Mr. Kanan is complying with the orders of the court. He has been busy working. There was a miscommunication and the warrant was recalled and quashed this morning." Sean Kanan, himself, issued the following statement on the matter, "I take this situation very seriously. I have been working incredibly hard on creating positive changes in my life. I would never knowingly neglect a court date nor any conditions placed on me by the court system." The actor has just completed work on the upcoming feature film, "Jack Rio", which he also produced, and recently starred in "Hack", which is now available on DVD. Passions - The Careers of Passions' Other Sheridans

Do you remember the time before Sheridan went to the dark side? If you do, you will likely remember some of the other actresses who have played the role. Although McKenzie Westmore will always be Sheridan Crane to most Passions fans, the part has actually been played by a few different actresses. Sara Paxton played the young Sheridan in flashbacks to the character's traumatic childhood in the early years of the show. Since then, she's moved through the echelons of tween actresses to teen actresses and beyond, going through roles on TV shows like CSI, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Lizzie McGuire, Summerland. She also had a show of her won, playing the title character in Darcy's Wild Life. If that wasn't enough work for such a young actress, she's made her presence felt in other pockets of Hollywood as well. She starred in the feature films Aquamarine and Sydney White. Paxton has just completed shooting the much hyped Superhero Movie and is currently performing on the set of the horror film The Last House on the Left. Another actress to take on the role, albeit briefly, was Shannon Sturges. The granddaughter of revered Hollywood director and writer Preston Sturges, she arrive in Harmony after stints on Days of our Lives and the ill-fated supernatural soap Port Charles. When McKenzie was away on maternity leave, Sturges turned in an eerie imitation of the role. Since then, she has been active on TV, turning in performances on Cold Case, The Wives He Forgot, Cradle of Lies and Maid of Honor. The most permanent stand-in for McKenzie however was Kam Heskin. The actress was no stranger to the world of soaps. She played Caitlin Richards-Deschanel on Sunset Beach, the former home to many of Passions' replacement actors. She returned to the soap world fresh from a role in the wildly unpopular Jenny McCarthy vehicle Dirty Love. She took on the part of the post-Luis but still sane Sheridan from July until October of 2006. Since then, she has gone on to several other projects, most notably the NBC internet soap Coast Dreams, co-starring Danica Stewart (see our article here). She has also played the role of Paige Morgan in both 2006's The Prince and Me II and the follow-up which is currently being shot. In the past year, she has made repeat appearances on CSI:NY and has two upcoming projects in the works. Kam will be starring in the romantic thriller Glimpses, set to begin shooting in the coming months with its release expected early in the new year. The actress has also just completed shooting a werewolf detective comedy starring Eric Stoltz. She plays Penny Sutherland in Howl, an affectionate homage to werewolf movies new and old. Audiences should expect to see it in the theaters by the end of the year.

*Word is that GH casting agents are looking around for a 40ish woman to play Domenica Zacchara, Claudia's long-lost mother. *Tamlyn Tomita will start playing the recurring role of Giselle, Kate's competitor, on May 16th. Tamlyn has been on Commander In Chief, Stargate: Atlantis and 24. *Seamus Dever (Dr. Devlin) will be leaving GH on May 5. *No official news yet, but all eyes are on Ingo Rademacher (Jax) as his contract is up soon. He's engaged and about to become a father, that much we know for sure! *Jason Cook (Shawn Brady from Days of our Lives) has just signed on to be a new doctor with a mysterious past at GH. His first air date is June. His story lines will involve Maxie, Sonny and Claudia. *Although Natalia Livingston (Emily Quartermaine) will be leaving GH on May 7, that doesn't rule out a return to the soap. Natalia is welcome back to the show at any time, according to Head Writer Bob Guza. In fact, he told sources recently that if the young actress decides to come back, he already knows the "path" her character will take! It's interesting to note that he reminds us that Emily, however, is dead and gone. *Finola Hughes returns as Anna Devane on April 25! She'll be around for five or six episodes - this time. It is reported that Anna will return to the canvas this summer for a longer run. *Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) will be absent (time off for personal reasons, we're told) for four episodes starting on April 23. He will return on May 2nd. In his place will be Ethan Erickson. You might recognize him from his recent role as a womanizing dress designer on the MyNetwork TV telenovela "Fashion House" or from his portrayal as J. Chamberlain on Guiding Light. *It's official - at least half of it is! Although ABC has extended an offer to Vanessa Marcil (Brenda Barrett) for a limited return, the actress has yet to respond. Various cast members have expressed their desires for it to happen, we only need to hear from one more person - Vanessa! *Dylan Cash's six-year run as Michael Corinthos III has come to a close. Although his final air date (in a coma) hasn't been released, his character will eventually be aged and recast by an older actor. Dylan will be sorely missed by the cast, according to our sources.
