Passions Cancellation (Updated)

Wednesday, December 12 2007

(NBC)
Last week a new rumor began circulating on message boards around the web that Passions will not be renewed by DirecTV for another season. This rumor has been confirmed by numerous members of the cast on their official websites, including Eric Marstolf (Ethan Winthrop), who states "This rumor is indeed true at this point. Passions is scheduled to stop shooting March 2008." Tracey Ross (Eve Russell) addressed a similar message to a webmaster of a fan site. Liza Huber (Gwen Hotchkiss) has also offered a statement on her website: "Hi Everyone, Yes, it is true that Passions will finish taping at the end of March 2008. We will start airing 3 days a week on DirecTV which should last through summer of 2008. It has been a wonderful ride (although Gwen has completely lost her mind!) and I want to thank all of you for your amazing support for Passions through the years!"

No official statement has been made by NBC but DirecTV has just spoken with us to confirm cancellation news. The representative of DirecTV today assured us that though the show is the highest rated program on the satellite network, has not been canceled - yet. "No, it's not been canceled. We've picked up an additional 52 episodes of Passions that will run through the summer." She later let us know that "DirecTV has picked up an additional 52 episodes of Passions ensuring fans will get to see brand new episodes through summer 2008 when the show will conclude its run on DirecTV".

NBC issued a public statement on Tuesday in which they echoed DirecTV's information. Here is the network's official statement:

"We are pleased to announce that DIRECTV has ordered an additional 52 episodes of Passions so that fans will continue to enjoy brand new episodes of the show through Summer 2008 when Passions will conclude its run on DIRECTV. We're excited that we can continue to bring more drama and excitement to fans and give them a chance to keep up with the intensifying storylines as they unfold over the next few months."

Soaps.com will continue to keep you updated on developments of this story as they unfold.

I love this show and do not want to find something to replace it as nothing will,i went through alot of money moving to direct tv and all and am very sad it is ending now.It will be missed even though it has its bad episodes as do all shows.

when I first heard this I was mad! Now, after reading on the internet it was one of the highest shows on Direct TV, let's hope that NBC will put it back on the air for us. I love this soap because it is not your usual boring soap. Crazy things happen in Harmony that are extremely out of this world which makes Passions so different from the others. Think about it NBC, there are a lot of loyal fans who may just turn their backs on other soaps, because why should you get into it, and actually become addicted (lol) to have it taken away, for what? Another reality show....booo! We want out of this world unreality fantasy!!

not every one has direct tv, and as soon as the story line when chad was killed off, and alistiar came back they took it off nbc. shame on you nbc, see not everybody, likes satelitte tv and everyone doesn't live in the city to pick up good reception. nbc afternnon just isn't the same at 2:oop.m.please bring it back.

Who is surprised at this? The writers are so busy trying to do shock tv that the storylines are crummy!

They need to get rid of JER before the show goes on another network.

That is just so sad. NBC should pick them back up. I have missed them

Well, Well, Well. Here we go again. They have no one to blame but the writers. I am (was) a huge fan of the show. The writers have done a TERRIBLE job as far as the storyline go. It has only gotten worse over the years. If it had better storylines, I believe it would have been picked up again. I will miss this show. I loved watching passions over the years. I just hoped they bring out all the cruel stuff that Gwen and her no good mother has done before the last episode!!!!

I did enjoy passion at first, but they just drag out the story way, way too long. I hve not watched passion since they move to direct tv but today I just checked out the spoiler and it's sad to say they are still dragging out Ethan and Teressa's love story. It's about time they both finally reunite and all the truth comes out especially about little Ethan. Drag it out any longer, fans will be sick and tire of watching this show and will not care if it ends.

I'm really sad to see it go. I hope there is some one who will pick them up. I'll make sure to do whatever i can to help keep it going, even if it's just an internet Soap.
