Ivy and Rebecca stay behind and discuss hiring a nanny. Theresa thinks to herself, "It just might work. And if it does, it will turn their plans upside down." Theresa comes inside to listen as Ivy and Rebecca interview nannies. Rebecca sends away all the attractive interviewees so they won't turn Ethan's head. She says the nanny has to be unattractive, ugly and preferably an out and out troll. Theresa gets an idea and sneaks out of the house. Theresa returns, dressed as a dorky, unattractive nanny with a bad wig and bad teeth. Rebecca and Ivy are shocked by her appearance, but Rebecca thinks she's perfect and they offer her the job.
After Sam and Ivy have sex, they move to the kitchen for a snack and continue their love fest. Noah and Paloma interrupt them when they enter the room while making out themselves. Both couples are a bit uncomfortable and try to cover up that they were getting intimate. Ivy opens a bottle of wine for everyone and Sam says he wants to talk to Noah and Paloma about their upcoming marriage. Sam wants to help them avoid the mistakes he and Ivy made and Ivy agrees. Noah pulls Paloma aside and tells her they will hear their advice and then find some place to be alone. The foursome sits at the table and Ivy tells them that plots and schemes always go wrong and come at a terrible price. She urges them to never lie to each other and Sam tells them to always be each other's champion because love and devotion will get them through anything. Noah asks Sam how he got over what happened to his mother and Ivy thinks that's a fair question. Sam responds that he was angry at Ivy, but she did what she did because of love. He says Grace chose David over him on her own and because of that, she was in London and was killed. He says it wasn't Ivy's fault and the bottom line is they love each other. They all toast to love and Noah says if Sam is in Ivy's corner, then he is too. As the couples sit at the table talking, someone watches from outside.
Alone, Sam tells Ivy they have to believe in their love and their life together and they can live happily ever after. Ivy promises no more lies and schemes and thinks it's glorious they already know everything there is to know about each other. As she hugs Sam, he gets a worried look on his face. The two then get back to business on the kitchen table.
Luis and Fancy dance more tango while fully clothed and Ivy and Sam enter and applaud them. Sam tells them he wants to give them an update on Esme's attacker. Ivy leaves to let them handle their official business, but offers her condolences to Luis regarding Theresa before she exits. Sam tells them there hasn't been any activity from the killer, but they should keep their eyes open and he leaves to do a sweep of the house.
Pretty is in the living room alone upset over Sheridan telling her that Luis doesn't want anything to do with her. She says she won't feel whole until she's in Luis's arms again. Ivy enters the room and Pretty hugs her saying she's tired of being alone and wants a man to love her. Ivy asks if Pretty is talking about Luis and reminds her that he is with Fancy. Pretty thinks she is putting Fancy's happiness before hers and accuses her of not loving her since Fancy scarred her face. Pretty thinks Ivy was happy to send her away as a child and relieved that she never returned for a visit. Ivy tells her they should start looking to the future and that she wants to have a better relationship with her. Pretty says fine, then tell her how to get a man to love her, a man like Luis. Ivy urges her daughter not to try and trick Luis into loving her and Pretty thinks she's just taking Fancy's side again.
Sam enters the living room and Pretty tells him how Ivy will always put Fancy ahead of her. Sam tries to smoothing things over and learns that Pretty is interested in Luis. Sam and Ivy tell her there must be someone else out there for her, but Pretty insists her scar is keeping them away. She tells her mother if she won't help her get Luis, she will do it herself and rushes off. Ivy tells Sam she has been a bad mother.
Sam and Ivy go home and talk about Pretty. She tells Sam she was trying to help Pretty learn from her mistakes and to not try and trick Luis into loving her. She then berates herself for treating Pretty poorly when she was scarred. Ivy says the real scar is the whole she left in Pretty when she kept her at arms length as a child and is afraid of what Pretty will do to get Luis away from Fancy. Sam points out that at least Ivy can admit her mistakes and Ivy is grateful he has forgiven her for everything she's done, but isn't sure she deserves him. Sam tells Ivy he loves her and that's all that matters. They profess their love for each other and have sex. Afterwards, Ivy says being with him again is her dream come true and hopes Pretty can have the kind of happiness she has with him.
Believing that Theresa is on the wharf, Ethan turns and says, "Theresa, you're here?" He sees a woman and hugs her. The woman turns out to be Ivy, but Ethan says he felt Theresa's presence. Ivy tells her son that Theresa is gone, but Ethan won't hear it. Theresa watches Ethan and Ivy and says to herself no matter how hard it is, she has to protect the people she loves and walks away. Ivy tries to convince Ethan that Theresa is dead and wasn't on the wharf. She urges him to accept her death and move on. Ethan says he has accepted her death, but can't get her out of his heart and doesn't even want to. He says there will never be anyone else and Ivy asks what about Gwen? He says he's made a commitment to her, but she will never be Theresa. Ivy suggests he think back to when he first fell in love with Gwen and tap into those feelings. He compares his love for Theresa with Ivy's love for Sam and says no one will ever replace her because she will be in his heart till the day he dies. Ivy asks Ethan to leave himself open to loving someone else like Gwen, because Theresa would want him to find love and happiness again. Ethan says it will take time and Ivy suggests that Gwen can help him get over his loss and eventually the memories of Theresa will fade. Ethan retorts he doesn't want his memories to fade and Ivy says that's his problem. Ethan vows he will never stop loving Theresa. Ivy says Theresa's death isn't his fault, but Ethan insists it is. Ivy asks him to allow a little happiness into his life and urges Ethan to give Gwen a chance.
Rebecca meets Ivy on the wharf who tells her Ethan is in bad shape and that she wants him happy with Gwen. Rebecca says it won't be a problem if Gwen does what she instructed. Ivy is afraid Ethan will spend the rest of his life pining over Theresa and worries that Gwen won't stand a chance. Rebecca says it's up to them to get Ethan and Gwen together, but Ivy says they have a problem. She asks, "How do you murder a ghost?"
Ethan goes downstairs and sees Sam and Ivy. Sam tells him he's sorry about Theresa and Ivy says life must goes on. Ethan reminds her that Theresa was the love of his life and always will be. Ethan pours himself a drink and tells his parents he will never stop missing Theresa. Ivy urges her son to move forward by thinking about the children and letting someone help him through this. Ethan realizes what she's up to and tells Ivy she doesn't need to push Gwen in his face. Ivy says he doesn't need to forget about Theresa, but he could give Gwen a little affection for the children's sake. Ethan says he and Gwen already talked about it and decided to be together for the children. He says he cares about Gwen, but will never love her the way he loved Theresa. He tells his parents if Theresa was still in the picture, Gwen wouldn't have a chance, but since she's not, he'll settle for Gwen.
