Theresa is pretending to be dead because a lady named Juanita wants to kill her and her family. The police had this lady, but Gwen helped her escape. Everyone thought that Theresa was dead, so now she has to pretend to be dead until the Juanita gets caught.

If I remember correctly, Theresa has tried to stay out of Ethan's life, but when she does, he comes to here. He will never let her go. I doubt Gwen and EThan are still married.
