I think it was out of character for the writers to have Carlotta play the scene the way she did, religion aside, she wants her boys to marry and give her grandbabies. I think she could be accepting of Chris if he was gay but still be dissapointed also. She could have said how much she loved him and would accept him even if she didn't like what he did. It could have been handled better.

I dont think it was a big deal,although Carlotta does seem to have changed overnight(no pun intended)in her mannerisms, not the same character anymore,liked Patricia better.

When Antonio left I was hoping Carlotta and Cristian would leave with t him I didnt like the Vegas for a few years except Jamie. However ICris has grown on me the couple weeks So maybe Carlotta will too I have seen parents turn on thier children b/c of the misinterpations they were thaught
But then I've also seen
Parents do a 180 and reaize there was more to the story Cris being a artist It may have always been in the bsck of her mlnd that he was gay.
Anyway I've gained respect for Cris
Maybe I'll like Carlotta too

I think thet should bring Patrica back. You may not see her every day, but her charater is important. People should respect her beliefs. You wouldn't expect her to do the part that way. Know one could believe Chis is gay. Please bring her back!!!

I definitely think the scene was out of character for Carlotta. This was not the character that has been on this show for the last fourteen years, and it has nothing to do with who was playing the part. Carlotta loves her boys and would not cast them out of her life, but she would not have been as accepting of Cris being gay the first time she was hit with it. This felt rushed, but I guess that's because Carlotta is only on a couple of days a couple times a year. The REAL Carlotta would have needed a journey of her own to come to grips with her son being gay. Being an artist is not an indication that one is gay. Not all artists are gay and gays hold a wide variety of occupations just as heteros do. Carlotta would have still loved Chris, but she wouldn't have liked it that he was gay. She'd have hugged him and said, "OH, mijo" and you'd have seened the anguish on her face.

of course just b/c someone is a artist doest make o but some believe that myth too Carlotta may have partly b/c its taken Cris so long to find the right woman. Sarah was much too young.
People in the real world often surprize you so why not in the soap world?

I think it was completely unfair to fire Paricia for her beliefs and the new storyline was completely out of character. Try doing that with someone from the Muslim faith! I did not like the line about her going to church every week but now she was "going to think for herself" What??? It is okay to be gay but not Christian??? Talk about being untolerant! After watching One Life for almost 30 yrs I have decided to pull the plug on this soap!

The new Carlotta is mediocre compared to the old one. Remember, OLTL is a drama series people!

I agree that they could have let Carlotta 'accept' Cris, while having her doubts- love doesn't see race or sex, at least its not supposed to. But by having Carlotta's reaction so much over-the-top was quite boring and unnecessary. Even though Christianity may speak out against homosexuality, the Bible also says "He that is without sin, cast the first stone." This would have made better story and could have educated some of the viewers.

And we can't have ALL the soaps running stories like these, they have Enough already. What if all the soaps did racism- at the same time... or Split personalities (DID)?
