"One Life in a Week!" (August 31 - September 4)
I am so happy with the recast choice for Ross - Michael Lowry is rocking the role, and though I never cared for him in the role of Jake Martin on All My Children, he's a perfect fit for Ross. I think he and Blair are a match made in scheming heaven, and Tea should definitely be scared! I also wouldn't mind a little hook-up between Blair and Ross, as their surfing lesson scene was refreshing, funny at times, and their chemistry was evident. However, we all know that Ross isn't a secure choice for Blair, so I couldn't see anything permanent between these two.
We found out why Justin is such a bully - because he's the mayor's kid, of course! I must say, I didn't see this coming, not until towards the end of last week, but it works great for the storyline, which is on fire! I was appalled by the way the mayor treated his son, and though I can't excuse the nasty things Justin has said and done, I do feel bad for the way he's being raised. It was evident when the mayor smacked him in the head and grabbed him by the face that there's a little boy in there longing for his father's attention - and approval.
John scrambled hard this week to make sure Cole was safe, then there was Dorian, a woman I no longer have respect for, ratting her mouth off to the mayor about Cole's undercover work! Here again, this proves my point that she will flush her family down the toilet just to get one up on Viki - in this case by helping the mayor get reelected. I've never known a character who would do anything to save their family yet would throw them under the bus in the same breath. Enough with the toilets and buses… When Dorian realizes what her blabbing is about to result in, and I don't mean the near death experience Cole was privy to at the hands of Keaton, she'll never forgive herself - but if she does, no one else should! Todd going to the mayor with the information on Cole... Though he did promise Starr he wouldn't go to the police, and didn't realize that the mayor was involved in the drug ring, I do think Todd's motives were to protect his daughter and granddaughter - but that's not to say he wasn't hoping to get John in a little trouble as well, knowing the mayor hated John as much as he did.
On the subject of Cole's arrest, I can see why John made it public, but when he placed him in a holding cell for safe keeping… That was a bit naïve of John, who is normally on his toes, since he knew that Keaton was a dirty cop, one who was working for the mayor. Could you imagine if John hadn't been able to plant that bug in the mayor's office... He would have never been forewarned that the mayor was sending Keaton to kill Cole, and sadly Cole would've been a dead man by now.

What a sweetheart Shaun was to not only express to Rachel that there's an apparent spark between she and Greg but to give her the option to pursue his brother… Sadly, nice guys like Shaun never get the girl, but we determined this weeks ago. For once I wish a soap diva would just take the right way out and go for what they want instead of hurting guys like Shaun on their mission to extinguish 'a flame' - it never works because when there's passion looming not even the Llanview Fire Department [Do we still have one?] could douse that fire! I really liked the scenes between Rachel and David. She doesn't take his bull, and he doesn't care - and continues with his derogatory comebacks! I don't know how anyone in a room with Tuc (David), shooting scenes, keeps a straight face.
I was very happy with the entire courtroom scene, which ultimately led to Rachel and Greg's kiss - and Nora and Tea landing in jail! What a complete hoot! I can't fault either woman though, Tea crossed every line she could to fight for her client, and Nora did what any mother would do to defend her child.
So, what did everyone think of the Emmys this year? Though I want to congratulate Susan Haskell (Marty Thornhart) on her big win, I was in utter shock that Bree Williamson (Jessica Brennan) didn't take home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress - and I couldn't believe that the Emmy producers didn't include the actors' reels when announcing the nominees… All of the Emmy excitement is over for this year, but if you missed any of it, be sure to check out our Coverage Section for all the winners, red carpet photos, interviews and video clips.
Thanks for stopping by again this week! Please feel free to vote in my poll about Rachel and Greg's kiss and share your thoughts on the show's storylines below. If you want more soap scoops, follow Soaps.com's Editor-In-Chief on Twitter @soapoperafan and add me on Facebook!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Remember, the show will be airing a repeat of the June 15 episode, but I'll see you back here next Friday for another week's worth of Amy's "One Life In A Week!"
