One Life to Live's John Brotherton stopped by Soaps.com last week to talk about his upcoming 2010 Soap Cruise appearance, as we'll as his Llanview character, Jared Banks - and we're also excited to bring our readers John's answers to their questions!

CBurke asks: I am a huge fan of yours, Jared and Natalie are the only reason I watch the show. My question is... if you could play any other role on OLTL for one day, which would it be?

John: Dorian Lord! [Laughs]


SBoagie asks: Hi John! What has been your favorite Jared/Natalie scene? How tall are you?

John: I'm 6'2"… My favorite scene was the first time I walked into Buchanan Enterprises. It was the scene I tested with when auditioning, so after practicing it over and over again then doing it for real was a memory I'll never forget. Saying the name Jared Banks, conning the family, pretending to be the Buchanan heir, butting heads with 'Sparky' [Natalie] then falling in love with her... The very beginning scenes were my favorite.


Sophia Rose asks: How do you spend your weekends? Any other TV or Movie scripts in the works?

John: I love to BBQ, I'm a pretty simple guy, love to play golf, spending time with my wife and dog [Golden Retriever named Buddy], and going to the beach. We're outdoors people. As for projects, I love the theater, so I'd definitely like to do something with that. There's nothing like the theaters in New York City.

Peigan68 asks: I'd like to know where you got the jewelry that Jared wears. His silver thumb ring, his silver ring on his right middle finger and his necklace that I always see him wearing in photos. I like his jewelry and I was just curious if it has any special meaning to you.

John: Yes, they do, all the jewelry I wear is mine and each one has a special meaning. My silver thumb ring I bought in Prague while traveling Europe for six months during college. The other ring is my wedding ring, and the necklace was a gift from my wife. She was shooting scenes for the movie "Employee of The Month" and found the necklace.


NCrowley asks: I am a huge fan, Jared is one of my faves. I have really missed seeing Jared and Natalie onscreen and hope they are back soon as they are why I watch. I have always wondered, since taping a show can be a long process, what do the actors do onset during downtime?

John: We read lines, try to stay loose. We're always having fun, making jokes, enjoying the time while we're there. It makes the job easier and the transition from real life to Llanview life easier.
