OLTL’s Brandon Buddy and Kristen Alderson On The View!

Friday, May 09 2008

Kristen and Brandon on The View! (Soaps.com)
We’ve seen quite a different side to One Life to Live’s storylines as of late. Although many have different views over the controversial storyline involving Brandon Buddy (Cole) and Kristen Alderson (Starr), we have to admit, the show should be commended for trying to raise public awareness on the topic of teen pregnancy, an issue that is very evident in the real world today!

We’ve not only been sitting on the edge of our seats wondering how things will pan out once Todd (Trevor St. John) and Blair Manning (Kassie DePaiva) find out their young daughter is pregnant, but ABC has also allowed us a glimpse into how the actress has dealt with the storyline through her new blog Start Talking With Kristen. And now we’re happy to report that we’ll be able to get up close and personal with the actors as they talk about their onscreen romance – and the trials and tribulations that have come along with it!

On Thursday, May 15, 2008, at 11:00 AM, Brandon and Kristen will appear on ABC’s The View to discuss the very storyline that has had fans consumed these past couple of months! We can’t wait to hear what the stars have to say and how they’ll finally set the record straight regarding their thoughts about it all!

Soaps.com wants to send a big thank you out to the show, and to all of the cast who have been involved in this eye-opening storyline! We applaud you!

I really hope that they see this teen pregnancy all the way through. I know it may sound horrible, but it's the summer and a lot of teens are going to be watching. They did the teen pregnancy thing with Jessica but then she lost the baby. They also did the teen pregnancy on GH with Lulu and she terminated. Teens need to see the actual consequences of a teen pregnancy. Starr should have this baby and learn how hard it is to be a teen mother.

Look many people are upset over this storyline, however, I feel that this is true to life and teenagers should be aware of teenage pregnancies. Teenagers are smarter than we think. This awareness will make them realize there are consequences to pay if they are not careful.

I really want this baby to make it though this fall I think it would be good to have starr carry the baby full term and have cole and her raise the baby together.

As I see the two kids going though this. I hope we will see them have this baby and try hard to make thangs right
We all see this happen in real life but people say that would never happen to us and then it dose so thank you for bringing this to light no matter how much money you have or don't have. It can happen to any family and good or bad a family is as one.

It is good that they are doing this storyline, but it is unfortunate that TPTB choose to side with the kids. A parents responsibility is their children. It is the responsibility of parents to nurture, guide and discipline. Though Todd was harsh in how he said things and rash in implementing his decisions, he was still right. Had he taken his family away as planned, Starr would be a teenager with a broken heart. After a few weeks, she would have met and fallin for a cute island boy. One of the jock groupies would have fallin for Cole. Life would have gone on, no baby for 16 year old Starr, and the family would be together and safe! Todd's actions may have thrown Cole and Starr together for a last hug and kiss, but he did not make them have irresponsible, unprotected sex. I'm sick of Blair and John protecting these kids' "feelings for each other". Now, Blair is siding with Starr and throwing Todd out (which will include Lil Sam). So, for the sake of the 16 year old's romance (and baby), Blair is going to sacrifice the entire family! Now, the dysfunctional family that was working to finally become a healthier, nucleur family (remember family poker night???) is divided once again because Blair wants Starr to be happy. What about Sam and Jack? No one cares that Jack and Sam are finally happy and adjusting to the home. Now, lil Sam is going to be taken thru yet another change. I truly hope the writers figure a way to bring the family back together and show how to get thru this situation "AS A FAMILY". But keep it real- don't let Cole and Starr keep making all of the parties, hanging at the mall, eating at the hangouts with their clique and leaving the baby with the nannies all of the time (like most parents on the show). I teach kids that have been kicked out of school for various reasons and they really need a realistic view of how life changes "post-baby". I know it's gotta be glamorous for ratings, but if you are going to show an eye-opening storyline, please don't glamorize this "love affair- baby and all". That would give permission and could even encourage the "happily ever after for teenage love and parentage."
