Brody takes Jessica to see Mitch in the Napa jail, who wonders where Natalie is and suggests that Jared be buried in Nash's grave. As Brody starts to snap at Mitch, Jessica stops him, and Mitch thanks her for protecting him - and forgives her for trying to kill him! Jessica claims he's not her father, but Mitch continues to taunt her, causing Brody to scream, "Back off!" Mitch turns his attention to Brody, and his past insanity, but Brody reminds Mitch that he met Jessica through it all - and at least they still have their souls, unlike Mitch… the soulless bastard! "You'll always be my daughter, and we'll be together," Mitch says to Jessica. "If not in this world then in the next." Though Jessica thought by visiting Mitch he could make her understand why he's done the things he's done, Mitch wonders if he apologized would she forgive him, and Jessica warns for him to never go near her or her family again - and Brody interjects, "Or I'll kill you!" As Brody and Jessica leave, Mitch screams in a rage that he'll always be a part of her - now and forever!
As Charlie strangles Mitch at the vineyard in Napa, Viki screams for him to stop, and John and Brody finally pull him off - as Mitch smirks and says, "Would it help if I said I'm sorry?" Mitch refuses to take any blame then implies that Jared grew up to be just like his father. Charlie warns that if he's ever alone with Mitch, he'll kill him - and Mitch wants John to arrest Charlie for threatening his life! John refuses, and as Charlie leaves, Mitch demands Viki's attention and calls Charlie a drunk and a murderer. As Mitch says, compared to Charlie Banks, he is righteousness itself, Viki slaps him hard across the face and snaps, "Don't you ever say my husband's name again!"
Outside, Charlie admits to Viki that he would have killed Mitch then brings up how he killed a man - and they now have to face this! Suddenly, Napa PD appears and shocks everyone by saying Mitch will be prosecuted in Napa - not Llanview! John is forced to turn Mitch over, who gives John one last smirk before he's taken away.
At the Napa Hospital, after the family is told that Jared is dead, Natalie becomes hysterical, as Clint holds her close, saying, "He's gone. Jared has left us." In tears, Charlie looks into the examination room at Jared's lifeless body. While Viki comforts Charlie, Clint sits with Jessica, as Brody briefly calls John, and Natalie runs to Jared's side. Brody rejoins Jessica and listens as she talks about Mitch, who Brody doesn't trust to be alone with John. Jessica urges Brody to go be with John, and Brody promises he'll return for her soon.
John then puts on some plastic gloves, as Mitch talks about all of the people who have died in vain, including Caitlin, then John uncuffs Mitch, throws him face down and holds a gun to his head! "John, no," Brody shouts. "He's not worth it!" Once John pulls away, Mitch asks for Brody's permission to spend some time with Jessica, but Charlie appears and asks, "What about my son!" Charlie rushes in, with Viki close behind, and starts strangling Mitch!
John and Brody arrive outside of the vineyard and become suspicious that the Napa Valley police haven't arrived yet. As they open the door to the area Jessica, Natalie and Jared were in, they find some cops, drugged on the floor! After they find the battery in the cop car dead, they spy the light on in the other building and head toward it…
As Natalie accuses Mitch of lying, John and Brody arrive in the shadows. Brody and John see what's going on and quietly separate, as Jared admits he caught Landers lurking around Llanfair and just when Jared was going to call the police, Landers blackmailed him with what he knew about Charlie, which led to Jared working with Landers - who turned up dead! Jared claims that he got a text, went to the Lodge and says that Pamela was alive when he got there! John listens as Mitch reminds everyone of Nash's corpse - and as Jared says to Natalie, "I did this to protect my dad. I made a deal with the devil. I hope you can forgive me." Natalie vows to stand by Jared, who begins lashing out at Mitch for having everything that he wants - as John makes himself known to them, behind Mitch. As Jared manages to get Mitch repositioned, John comes in with his gun drawn, but Mitch manages to grab Natalie and warns that he'll kill her - in a second! John demands that Mitch let Natalie go, and just as Mitch tosses Natalie toward John, and pretends to put his gun down, Mitch takes aim at the crowd and fires a shot!
Still on their way to Napa, Brody urges John to tell him everything he knows about Mitch Laurence, and John starts from the beginning… Saying that Mitch is Jessica's father, a man who died five years ago…
On a plane to Napa, as Brody wonders what's happening in Napa, and why Jessica would think that Nash was alive, John isn’t shocked to hear that Brody's sister would sell her soul for a ticket to Vegas. However, both wonder why Rex's aunt would sell her nephew out - and who she's afraid of! As John brings up how Walter Balsom delivered Jessica and Natalie, and switched them at birth, because someone else told him to, John gets a text from Fish. Brody hopes it's not about Nash coming back from the dead, and after John sees the text, he says, "Apparently someone else is." John begins to tell Brody about the devil himself, Mitch Laurence…
When Nadine tries to rush out her door, in Michigan, John stops her then Brody appears from the bedroom, holding Corrine, letting John know that they drugged him and Rex. Brody is shocked to hear that they drugged them to get them away from Jessica and Natalie! Nadine claims that the person who offered to pay her to keep Brody there was just a voice on the phone. Corrine claims the same happened to her - and that neither of them saw the man who called. John shows them a photo of Jared, but they deny seeing him, as they do with a few other photos, including Nash's. Brody tries to call Jessica and gets nervous when he gets her voicemail.
