MARTY SAYBROOKE THORNHART'S HISTORY
Ever since she first came to town in 1992, Marty Saybrooke has had a hard time fitting in. In her earlier years, Marty found friendship and later love in Reverend Andrew Carpenter. When he didn't return her affectionate feelings, Marty turned around and made everyone believe that Andrew was having a gay affair with a younger churchgoer, causing him and his family much embarrassment.
However, it wasn't until her college years that Marty endured the brutal gang rape, led by Todd Manning, that destroyed her life and shattered her self-esteem. With the help of her husband, Patrick Thornhart, she was able to put her life back together and leave Llanview behind.
Marty returned to Llanview in 2007 to raise her son and to try to put the demons of her past behind her. Just when it appeared she had done so - and had found love again in John McBain - Marty was kidnapped by someone looking for information surrounding her dead husband Patrick and was presumed dead after the van she was located in exploded.
However, she's not dead after all - and has been held at Todd's old penthouse by Lee Ramsey, the same man who caused her 'presumed death'! After Lee was murdered, Todd scooped Marty up and took care of her for months at his estate. Just when Marty fell in love with and made love to Todd, John McBain appeared crashing through her bedroom window - and told Marty everything!
It took Todd finally confessing to make Marty believe what John was saying, and Marty was left to face her past - one she didn't remember, including her son, Cole!
However, after being kidnapped by Powell Lord, while being confined with Todd, Todd helped Marty remember everything - even Cole! With everything now clear in her mind, Marty is trying to put her life back together and wants nothing more than to reconnect with John McBain.

Wednesday, November 18 2009: The Fantasy Within Her Reality...
John arrives in his room at the Angels Square Hotel and calls Bo to check on Natalie - and to inform him that Mitch is being watched in Napa and that he plans to head back there. However, Bo orders him to take the day off and stay put. After he hangs up, Marty arrives and holds John close, who fills her in on what happened in Napa - including how Mitch said John is the reason Jared is dead. Marty tries to assure John that he did all he could do, but John remembers Natalie's face, when they loaded Jared's body on the plane. Marty catches herself psycho-analyzing him then shows John a photo of Michael and Marcie's baby. After Marty reminds him that there are still a lot of good things left out there, he says, "There's you," then the two make love. When John falls asleep, Marty tucks a note next to him then leaves.
Friday, November 06 2009: A Declaration Of Innocence...
Over at Dorian's, everyone helps Hope celebrate her first birthday, as Dorian anticipates something else to celebrate - her victory over Viki! Over talk of the election, Markko claims to Langston that he voted for Dorian but appears as though he's lying, as she hugs him with excitement! After Todd asks Amelia and Dorian which one of them is the groom, he takes Hope away to change her, while Marty confronts Blair for keeping Todd from his child! When Todd rejoins them, Marty says, "There's something I need to tell you. It's about your child." Marty relieves Blair by bringing up Cole and Starr's relationship, and warns him not to think about coming between them, then walks off. While Dorian and Amelia watch the polls on TV, Starr and Cole think back to how they thought they lost Hope. Cole promises they'll all be together always. Later, while opening Hope's gifts, Dorian snickers to Amelia as Starr opens Viki's promise book to Hope, claiming that Viki can't even keep her promises to the people of Llanview - like she plans to! Dorian vows to win the election, as Jack takes bets on who's going to win. Markko places one, in front of Langston, on Dorian, as Marty says she'd put a bundle on Viki! Markko pulls Cole away, admits he lied to Langston and says he voted for Viki! Though Cole assures him that there's no way Langston could find out the truth, an announcement comes over the television saying, "Every vote counts."
Marty follows Blair out into the foyer, who warns Marty again to keep her mouth shut! Blair vows that Todd will never find out the truth!
