Before Rex, Gigi and Shane enter Foxy Roxy's, Shane talks about how lame photo Christmas cards are, leaving Rex no choice but to head into the salon and tell Roxy to cancel the family photo appointment for the cards. Once Rex is gone, Shane confesses to Gigi that he didn't want to disappoint Rex - but didn't want Brody to see the card and think he didn't mean anything to him anymore. After a reassuring talk, Shane agrees to the photo card then Gigi suggests they surprise Brody with a Christmas card, with only Shane on it, just for him.
Later, after Rex, Gigi and Shane leave to go get their picture taken, Moe arrives, gasps at Noelle's new hairdo, saying it looks as though she got into a fight with an eggbeater, then announces that they aren't going back to Texas!
Suddenly, Gigi, Moe and Noelle enter the diner, and Viki runs into their arms, as Charlie whispers, "Happy Thanksgiving, Viki." Hearing that the surprise was all Charlie's doing, Viki rushes into his arms and says, "Thank you!" While Moe and Charlie talk in the kitchen, Viki agrees with Noelle - that a girl would be a fool to let Charlie go! Later, Charlie asks Viki if they can start over…
At the Buenos Dias Café, Viki, Gigi, Charlie, Noelle and Moe prepare a Thanksgiving diner, as Marcie and Michael arrive, followed by the Buchanans, the Vegas and their crew, as well as Dorian's family. After Shane introduces his dad, Rex, to Moe and Noelle, Llanview celebrates Thanksgiving as one.
Arriving back to the carriage house, Rex tries to get Shane to play catch, but Shane blows him off and heads to his room. Suddenly, Charlie arrives looking for Viki, but Rex and Gigi haven't seen her. Though Charlie tells Gigi that he isn't sure if they are 'still on for later', he heads out to walk the grounds in search of Viki. Once alone, Gigi tells Rex about her and Charlie's plans then Rex worries that Shane will never look at him like he does Brody. "I may be his father," Rex says. "But Brody is his hero." Gigi reminds Rex of what he did to help Brody, calling Rex a hero, and assures him that once Shane gets to know him, he'll love him like she does. With talk of a plan to get 'this father/son thing' jumpstarted, Gigi calls Shane downstairs and suggests they watch the Thanksgiving parade together - like the Morasco's have always done. When Rex goes to leave, to spend time with Matthew like he does every year, thinking Shane doesn't want him intruding, Shane begs to go with him - in favor of video games over a 'childish' parade!
Nora brings Brody to St. Ann's and helps get him checked-in. After Brody thanks Nora for helping him, Gigi, Rex and Wes arrive to spend some time with Brody. While Nora, Gigi and Wes go check on some things, Brody and Rex bond over their connection then Gigi and Rex surprise Brody with a visit from Shane! While Rex and Gigi look on, Brody and Shane play checkers and chat about school. Brody appears fine with the conversation until he sees the image of the little boy he killed standing behind Shane! Wes seems to detect a change in Brody and comes to his aid. After Shane rejoins Rex and Gigi, Brody admits his visions to his friend, to which Wes completely understands. "I need help," Brody says, and Wes assures him that his stay at St. Ann's will provide that help. Brody thanks everyone for coming and heads to his room - but not before Shane salutes him.
Gigi arrives at the VA Hospital to give Brody a heads up - about Rex! "Rex doesn't want to put you away. He wants to make sure that you don't end up in prison." Though Brody is appreciative, he's not happy that Wes approached them looking for favors, but Gigi makes it clear that they know he was someone else when he shot Rex - and that he needs help. Gigi then gives Brody back the money that Brody gave her for Shane's college - the money Dorian paid him to show up in Llanview! Reluctantly, Brody accepts it with the hopes of getting his life back.
Later, when Nora and Rex arrive, Brody is reluctant to take the deal - to have himself committed for further psychiatric evaluation - but then thanks Rex and Nora for their generosity. Once Nora leaves, Rex hands Brody a pen and he signs a paper to have himself committed.
Over at Rex's loft, Wes explains how Brody needs their help - and how he wasn't in his right mind when he shot Rex. Wes explains Brody's situation then asks if Rex would consider dropping the charges. Rex reminds him that the DA's office will be pressing charges with or without him, but he thinks of Shane and agrees - Shane's been hurt enough. Rex promises that he'll do what he can to help, leaving Wes to say, "I owe you for this. I owe you both."
Natalie and Jared meet Roxy at Rex's loft. Once Rex and Gigi appear, Natalie runs into Rex's arms and says, "I thought I'd never see you again." After briefly talking about Tess's wrongdoings, Brody and Shane - and how he must be so upset about his dad shooting Rex - Roxy blurts out, "Your brother is a daddy!" Over a family hug, Roxy announces that she has to leave then Natalie tries to explain how much she misses Jessica, who will always wear Tess's face. Just as Natalie and Jared are getting ready to leave, Clint calls, informs her that he told Jessica about what Tess did then says, "If you're up to it, Jessica would like to talk to you and Jared."
