Outside Lowell's office, John is shocked to hear about Jessica, Marty and Cole's confessions. When Lowell appears, Eli demands that he drop the charges against his client, John, and after a few exchanged threats between Nora and Lowell, he has no choice but to drop the charges against John and says, "But McBain, you're fired!" Brody quits too, but John urges him to stay on the force. Once Lowell is gone, John thanks Cole, Marty and Jessica then heads out.
Over at Llanfair, Bo catches Viki and Charlie up on the new commissioner then says that Lowell had John arrested. Natalie enters the room, says John was arrested for something he didn't do then says she has something to tell them all. Just as Bo tries to stop her, Clint arrives and the brothers argue - until Natalie admits, "I stabbed Mitch." While Bo and Clint instruct Natalie how to handle the situation, with each having their own opposing ideas, Charlie rushes off, promising Viki he's not going to drink. Suddenly, John and Nora arrive and announce that no one is going to be prosecuted for stabbing Mitch. While Clint and Nora trade barbs, Natalie thanks John, saying he could've gone to prison for her. "Why did you do that?" she asks, but John replies, "You know why." Natalie rushes into his arms! Later, Viki begs Jessica and Natalie to forget about Mitch and to get on with their lives, for Bree's sake. Jessica promises 'no heroics', as does Natalie, who still thinks someone needs to make Mitch pay.
When Nora arrives at the PD, she's met by Jessica and Natalie, with a newspaper, wanting to know if the headlines are true. Nora admits that she's back with Bo and halts their accusations by saying she needs to deal with Mitch now - but will talk about Clint later. Jessica and Natalie allow Nora to leave in order to close Mitch's case.
Back at the station, as Rex is leaving Bo's office, Brody, John and Fish enter the station house with Mitch, as Jessica, Natalie, Bo, Rex and Nora look on. After Mitch taunts the crowd, and is about to be taken to a cell, Rex takes a call from Shane - and Dorian storms in, screaming for everyone to wait just one minute! Dorian instructs Bo to step down as commissioner, but when Bo refuses to leave his office, Dorian pulls out a bloody letter opener from the envelope she received, claiming Bo was involved in a cover-up - one that started with John McBain!
After reconsidering going out, Tea and Elijah enter the Mayoral Ball - just as Dorian demands that Bo hand over his badge! Dorian tells the community to let this be a lesson, since she plans to run a squeaky clean ship here in Llanview! As the press attacks Bo, Clint answers a question - asking how he feels about the betrayal. "Actions have consequences," Clint calmly tells the reporter. Dorian claims she doesn't have a replacement for Bo yet then wishes everyone a Happy New Year. Once she steps down from the stage, Bo suggests to Nora that they leave, but Nora sees Tea and Elijah, who promise to look into this mess for them. Just then, Tea gets a call from Todd saying, "I need you. It's about Dani." Meanwhile, Bo confronts Clint, comparing him to Asa, then looks at his badge after Clint strolls off to dance with Kim, who gets a big New Year's kiss from her Buchanan boss. Nora goes to Dorian but doesn't get an explanation about why she's going after Bo but gets a warning, saying Nora is lucky she's an elected official - or she'd be fired too! Dorian suggests Nora resign then walks away, as the press attacks Nora with questions. Discreetly, Dorian calls Mitch to tell him that she did it - she fired Bo!
Back at The Palace, Elijah briefly runs into Bo and Nora in the hallway, outside Bo's room, then sighs with relief once he's in the elevator.
Though Nora shares a drink with Bo in his room, she suggests it's time to go back to her room, but Bo reminds her that they don't need to be discreet anymore - then they decide to ring in the New Year together!
Inside Tea's room, she hears a knock at the door and answers it to find Nora, there to explain that Dani will be going to Ultraviolet with Matthew - and Rex promised they'd be supervised. Tea relents then listens as Nora talks about being persuaded, by Dorian, to go to the Mayoral Ball - thankful that Clint hates these types of functions and likely won't be there. Nora asks Tea about Todd, and she admits she still loves him, but Nora warns that Dani probably won't get any closer to Tea - as long as she's associating with Todd.
Downstairs in The Palace ballroom, Clint asks Dorian why she's so set on firing Bo, and after she looks at the makeshift Christmas card from Mitch, she replies, "I have my reasons." After Clint introduces Kim to Dorian, he reminds Dorian, "My hands are clean tonight." Suddenly, Bo and Nora arrive, shocked to see Clint with Kim, and Clint tells Dorian he's made sure the press knows what's up then says, "Let the goodtimes roll!"
Dorian takes the podium, talks about Llanview's most respected citizens, Bo and Nora, then calls them to the stage, but when the press starts bugging Dorian about 'the rumors', she claims not to know what they're talking about - until one publically outs Bo and Nora's affair, leaving Clint smiling proudly! Dorian denies the rumors, but when a photo of Bo and Nora kissing before her wedding to Clint is presented to them, Bo and Nora leave the stage, as Kim gives the press a statement. Privately, as Bo suggests they've been set up, Nora wonders what Dorian could gain from their affair. Dorian then calls for everyone's attention, claims she wants to keep her word to give the community only the best then fires Bo - for committing adultery!
