Back in Llanview, Layla appears at the diner, goes over both her and Cris' track records with love then admits that he makes her feel alive - and she doesn't want to give him up! Cris answers Layla, who wonders if they have a shot, with a kiss!
As Fish and Kyle start to get passionate, Cris and Layla come busting through the door kissing too! Fish embarrassingly rushes into his room to get dressed then reappears and admits that he and Kyle have been waiting for this night for too long. "Wait," Fish stops rambling and asks Cris and Layla. "Were you two just kissing?" Layla pulls Cris away, to give Kyle and Fish some alone time. Kyle and Fish both agree not to rush things and to just enjoy getting reacquainted. Later, Cris and Layla rejoin Kyle and Fish, who are watching "Christina Comes Home For Christmas."
At the diner, Carlotta notices how down in the dumps Cris has been then hands him a phone and says, "Call her." Cris says he can't then brings up Evangeline - and how Layla feels - but Carlotta reminds him that Evangeline wouldn't want Cris and Layla to be alone and urges him to try to tell Layla that again.
Later, while Fish arrives back home, happy to see that Kyle is still there, Layla arrives at the diner to find Cris, who is surprised to see her.
Though Dorian admits to Langston that she still loves David, she asks her to hold onto her phone, in case 'someone' calls, then goes off with Amelia. Nick urges Kyle to join him in the ceremony, and Fish says, "I'll see you after you get married." The ceremony begins, and as Andrew talks about marriage, Langston leaves a message for David to get over there soon - and stop Dorian! Nick expresses his love to Kyle, Cris and Layla comment on how devastated Fish looks and Amelia wonders who Dorian is looking for… Suddenly, as Andrew instructs everyone to take out their rings, Kyle says, "Wait, I can't do this." Though Nick professes his love to Kyle, Kyle denies loving Nick then says he wants to one day marry the man he loves - Kyle goes to Fish and asks him if they can give it another shot! Nick runs off upset, as Kyle tells Fish how much he loves him - then Roxy approaches and tells Kyle to marry Fish! Though Fish wants to give his relationship with Kyle another shot, neither is ready for marriage.
Still at their apartment, Layla again tells Cris that she can't be with him, as it would be taking over a life that Evangeline can't have. Though Cris admits he'll always love Evangeline, he reminds Layla that they were broken up - and they have to move on and let her go. Layla admits it felt right when Cris kissed her, and Cris agrees, saying he doesn't want to let 'this' go. "Is it possible all this worry about Evangeline is because you're scared to take a chance on me?" Cris asks, to which Layla denies it but refuses to throw her sister under the bus. As Layla walks away, Cris fantasizes that she finally gives in to them being together - but when Layla rejoins him, and brings Cris out of his fantasy, she says, "I'm moving out." Cris insists that if anyone is going to leave, he is then heads into his room to pack.
As Layla is imagining holding Cris close, and never letting him go, Cris appears and hands her money for his part of the rent… Cris leaves. Shortly after, Fish arrives home and comforts Layla with a hug.
Back in Llanview, Fish arrives home to find Cris painting shirtless, and when Cris puts his shirt back on, Fish snaps at him, "Cris, don't worry, you're not really my type." Cris laughs it off then urges Fish to talk about 'his type', Kyle. Over a couple beers, Cris gives Fish some advice, reminds him that Kyle and Nick's wedding won't be real and suggests he fight for Kyle. With talk of Layla, Cris explains Layla's feelings of disloyalty to her sister and claims they can't be together. Just as they sit down to watch football, John calls Fish and says he's going to break the rules in regards to Fish's administrative leave…
Later, Layla arrives home, and over talk of Fish's issues with Kyle, it's clear that Cris and Layla are really talking about each other. Though Layla comments how bad she feels for Fish and Kyle, Cris says, "I feel worse for you and me."
Layla walks in and goes into the kitchen. When she shows Cris his forgotten apartment keys, he asks her to place them in his pocket, since he's elbow-deep in flan. After Cris feeds Layla some flan, from the fresh batch he's made, he takes her in a passionate kiss! Layla pulls away, admits that she's wanted to kiss him, but says, "It can't happen again." Though Cris thinks it's too soon, after Fish, Layla explains, "It's my sister." Layla feels as though she's betraying Evangeline, and Cris understands, and even says he loved Vange too, but reminds Layla that Evangeline would have wanted him to move on. Layla questions if she would have approved of them together, but Carlotta walks in and interrupts. As Layla rushes out, Cris watches her go - and Layla stops to look back at him.
