When Blair and Dorian arrive at the café and see John and Marty, Blair's about to leave, but Dorian urges her inside. With a smile, Blair goes to their table, puts her hand out to Marty and says, "Hi, I'm Blair. Todd's ex-wife." Marty stands and accepts Blair's handshake then listens as Blair apologizes for all Todd has done to her. "Todd told me we were mortal enemies, is that true?" Marty asks. Blair admits they had their issues and tries to be sympathetic to Marty, who continues to bring up all the lies that Todd told her - including how Blair and John had an affair, which happens to be true! Again, Blair relates to how she feels, because of all that Todd has done to her, but Marty snaps, "You had a choice… He raped me!" Though Blair tries to leave, Marty stops her and asks, "You do hate me, don't you?"
Inside the kitchen, Dorian and Moe reconnect, as she asks his opinion of her truffle custard. After the taste test, Dorian invites Moe to dinner, but he has to fly back home. Putting down Moe's stick-in-the-woods town in Texas, Dorian tells him he's too good to be stuck in the kitchen at the Bonjour Café! Shortly after, when Dorian emerges from the kitchen, she hears Marty snapping about Blair's jealously over finding John with her and defends her niece by saying, "Blair does have a right to know what's going on with you two!"
When John sees Marty and Nora walk into the diner, they share some small talk then John goes to leave. However, Nora asks that he stay - to help her come up with a plan to put Todd away for good! John agrees to testify and to give Nora any information that he has. Over talk about Jessica being at Todd's, they all realize that Tess knew what was going on with Todd - and that Todd knew about Tess! When Nora gets a phone call, she has to head to the hospital for the case - and Marty agrees to stay and share a meal with John!
Once alone, Marty confides how her life is going then expresses her appreciation for John finding her - or else she'd be off in Mexico. John admits that if he hadn't found her that night he would have never given up looking for her. Marty believes John then the two order some food and continue on with their conversation about Todd - never noticing Blair staring at them from the doorway!
Roxy approaches John at the diner and says, "You have a pair of big ones to quit your daily grind in these economic hard times," badgers him about his love life then asks, "So, which is it going to be? Blair or Marty? Marty's looking hot, who would've even known her brain got scrambled?" Though John tries to hush Roxy, she continues on until he simply walks away! After Roxy catches up to John, he expresses wanting to eat in peace - without talking about his personal life. "So, how's Marty?" Roxy continues, much to John's chagrin!
Later, John is surprised to see Nora arrive at the diner - with Marty!
In her bedroom, Blair and John play a friendly game of cards. Trying to make John laugh, Blair reenacts how John told the mayor to take his job and shove it. In all seriousness, John expresses that he needed to leave on his own terms - and how he only needed the job when he believed in it. "When the system fails, the law fails - It failed me," John says but Blair corrects, "You mean it failed Marty." Before John answers, Blair talks about how they have only talked and slept since his arrival then she admits that she feels sorry for Marty - and for what Todd did to her. John talks about his visit with Marty, and how alone he felt after, then says, "I needed a friend… I needed you." John apologizes for everything, but Blair understands where he's at right now. They both wish each other Happy Thanksgiving then John leaves.
When Marty opens the door at the Buchanan mansion, she's faced with John, who says, "I just wanted to come by to see how you are." Marty admits that she's no longer afraid of him then talks about her dreams of John - and how when she woke up she wanted to go back to sleep, so she could dream about him some more. Marty talks about how Lee gave her a picture of her and John then she rants about her memory loss - and what Todd did to her! "I hate that all I know about myself is what I was with him," Marty cries. John reminds Marty that though she doesn't remember anything, everyone around her knows her. John tries to comfort Marty, but she pulls away - then quickly apologizes. Before John leaves, Marty wonders what Todd did with the picture of her and John, to which John hands her his copy and says, "Will this do?" Marty is brought to tears, puts her hand on John's face and thanks him desperately for saving her life.
Later that night, John appears at the mansion and slowly walks into Blair's arms…
After John tells the mayor to take his badge and shove it, Antonio clears the press out of the station, leaving John to lash out at the mayor some more then announce, "I hereby resign from the Llanview Police Department." As John and the mayor continue their rant, the mayor demands that the charges are reinstated against John! After Bo reminds the mayor of what the press witnessed, where he called John a hero, the mayor is forced to put the matter to rest, for fear of being branded as a 'flip-flopper'!
