John checks in with Clint again then Natalie emerges from his bedroom and says she couldn't rest - not as long as Mitch is still alive. Though Natalie wants to go to Napa, to kill Mitch, John warns, "He's taken too much from you already. Don't let him take away your future too." When Natalie wonders how she'll say goodbye to Jared, John urges her to trust that those who love her will take care of her - but Natalie replies, "You know me better than that." Natalie again apologizes to John and says he's not only a good cop, but he's always been a good friend to her - and to Jared. Natalie remembers when she thought that John was dead and knows it's going to take more than taking everything one day at a time for her to get through this.
Just as Natalie is about to head home, Rex arrives at John's and takes his sister in his arms. John gives them some time alone and leaves then Natalie tells Rex that Jared was framed and that he was murdered - by Mitch Laurence! Rex reminds Natalie that Mitch is dead, but just as Natalie says that she saw him kill Jared, Roxy walks in and hears Natalie finish, "Mitch is alive and well!"
She's Not Your Daughter...
After John opens his door, to Natalie, she slaps him hard across the face and says, "You killed him, you bastard! My husband is dead because of you!" Natalie pushes her way through and cries, "You made me doubt my husband." John tries to apologize, but Natalie snaps, screaming that she hates John for everything he's done - including the fact that Jared knew that Natalie doubted him! As Natalie starts punching John, he takes hold of her then pulls her close, as Natalie sobs in pain. After a bit, Natalie pulls away and dares him to tell her there was nothing else he could have done to save Jared - and John admits he should have found out Mitch was alive sooner… then Jared would still be alive. Natalie rehashes the last words Jared said to her and breaks down in John's arms. Later, Natalie apologizes for hitting and blaming John then takes the blame herself - saying she lied to John about going to Napa - then cries, "He's dead because of me!" Natalie falls to the floor, and John comforts her saying, "It's not your fault. Laurence played you, he played all of us." Natalie says she can't go home to her and Jared's bedroom, because it's like he's still there, then John offers her his room - for as long as she wants it. Natalie leans against his chest, and John wraps his arm around her.
The Fantasy Within Her Reality...
Back home in Llanview, Clint, Viki and Charlie bring Natalie into Llanfair, who cries, "How am I going to live without Jared?" After Viki promises they'll all be there for Natalie, Natalie hugs Charlie then heads upstairs with Clint.
Upstairs in her room, Clint helps Natalie get settled, as she holds one of Jared's shirts and breaks down in agony. After Clint leaves, Natalie lies down, closes her eyes, then hears, "Hi Sparky." She sees Jared lying next to her, saying, "I told you I'd never leave, and I never will." Natalie cries that she wants to remember the last time they made love, their last kiss, then says, "It's gone." However, Jared says, "It's not," then passionately kisses Natalie. Just then, Viki peeks in on Natalie, who is holding a pillow, sound asleep.
When John wakes up, he sees Marty's note then answers a knock at the door - it's Natalie, who promptly slaps him hard across the face!
Goodbye Jared...
At the Napa Hospital, after the family is told that Jared is dead, Natalie becomes hysterical, as Clint holds her close, saying, "He's gone. Jared has left us." In tears, Charlie looks into the examination room at Jared's lifeless body. While Viki comforts Charlie, Clint sits with Jessica, as Brody briefly calls John, and Natalie runs to Jared's side. Brody rejoins Jessica and listens as she talks about Mitch, who Brody doesn't trust to be alone with John. Jessica urges Brody to go be with John, and Brody promises he'll return for her soon.
Standing above Jared, Natalie begs him to wake up and starts talking about them having children. Charlie joins her and says, "He's gone," then takes Natalie in his arms, as they both explode with devastation. After Clint comes in to take Natalie away, Viki tells Charlie she's going to see him through this then Charlie asks for a moment alone with his son.
By Jared's side, Charlie takes all of the blame for Jared being dead and says, "I killed you, as if I'd pulled the trigger myself." Charlie vows not to let Jared down again and says that if he did kill Jared's stepfather then it only means that he's capable of doing it again! Before Charlie leaves, he promises that Mitch is going to pay for this! Later, Clint tells Viki that he can't find Charlie anywhere - and Viki rushes off with worry!
Natalie goes back into Jared's room and starts cleaning him up, as she talks about how they fell in love. Natalie admits that she made a wish that night in Texas - that she wished to die before Jared because she knew she'd never be able to handle losing him. Natalie holds Jared close and sobs. When Jessica and Clint appear, Natalie kisses Jared goodbye then they all watch as his body is taken away.
