I know this is a very controversial topic so I don't want to start a fight..I'm just giving my opinion on the whole Starr adoption storyline. I think that the reasons she is giving for giving the baby up for adoption are stupid because they are not realistic (to her life and her character on the show...they are realistic to most teenagers in America, but not her). She keeps telling Cole that they need to go to college, get an education, etc., not raise a child, but the problem is...she can still do all of that...she has tons of money...she can go to college during the day, get her education, go home at night and raise her baby, her mom will take care of the kid, they can hire a nanny, etc. When she gives her reasons for wanting to give up the baby she sounds like she is a middle class teenager who needs to go to college with scholarships or student loans and who can't support a child because she has no money. Now I'm not even saying that she shouldn't give the baby up for adoption...It's not the decision that I have a problem with..but the reasons she gives for her decision are ridiculous...she should instead say this...I am a teenager who does not want to make any sacrifices for my child and live the life I would have lead if I never got pregnant...which means go away to college instead of stay at home for college, go to parties, hang out with my friends whenever I want to without worrying about where the kid is. If the writers want to do this adoption storyline they need to take into account the fact that Starr is not your average teenage girl in America who is giving up her baby because she is not at a point in her life where she can financially support a child because she needs to go to college and not start working or not be able to finish high school because she needs to get a job, but they aren't doing that. I don't know if they want to make it more applicable to someone in real life dealing with a teenage pregnancy, but if that's why they need to realize that it sounds stupid because that is not who Starr is. |

I don't know if they want to make it more applicable to someone in real life dealing with a teenage pregnancy, but if that's why they need to realize that it sounds stupid because that is not who Starr is. If she kept the baby and went to college, she would be home as much as a mom who worked full time and we don't say that moms who have full time jobs can't raise kids. But that is the reason she keeps giving, the fact is that she has money to support the kid until she can start a career after she graduates from college..and she can go to college from home and be home when she is not at class. She also has a huge house with tons of room for the kid, a mom who is very supportive and can take care of the kid when she is at school, money to hire a babysitter, and money for everything else the kid would need. Now please don't misunderstand what I am saying...I'm not saying that her decision is wrong but the reasons she states are not accurate to who she is...they are reasons that a normal teenager who wants to get an education and can't get a good enough job to support a baby and provide a house and a home for it without one and can't afford to provide daycare or a babysitter for the child when they are working and do not have a family support system in place to help out. If she wants to give up the baby for adoption (or if the writers want her to) her reason need to sound reasonable and plausible to who her character is and how wealthy she is. She could instead say that she is just not ready to be a mother and her child deserves a mother who is not going to resent the child for the sacrifices she has to make for him or her. I totaly agree with everything you said! |

:) I have to agree with you. Starr decision was done without her disscussing adoption with a professional. Her mother never even take the time to tell her about the po's con's of watching her child every day being raised by someone else. |

i agree with that. i also think that cole should have just raise the baby by himself |

Finally, someone who agrees with what I've said from day one! Starr and Blair are way too selfish for my taste. |

I agree, since the writers wanted a teen pregnancy storyline, a new character should have been introduced instead of Starr who has everything handed to her by rich parents capable of raising another child in addition to their own.. Sorry Todd is to concerned about himself and revenge and Blair to much "in heat" herself! Why not a average family with this type of situation? The story should have been about a pregnant teen, issues involved, options, possible depression, worries about her changing body and childbirth, taking care of her own child, still having any fun left during her teen yrs, school work, and how she is going to recieve help. Rich girl Starr has not worries! Pregnancy to Starr is merely a inconvience! She and her child will be taked care of. |

I've thought the exact same thing since this whole story started. Just never got around to saying so. I'm on team Cole. I just wish he had'nt given up so easily. |
