I personally have nothing against gay marriage per se but I don't feel soaps should be taking a political stand on a controversial subject especially protraying everyone who could possible be against it as ignorant. I like most people watch soaps for entertainment not indoctrination. It really minimizes the real issue without looking at both sides evenly I would feel the same about abortion eventhough I am definately pro choice. Really get tired of this whole storyline. |

One Life to Live was one of the very first soap operas to portray a mixed relationship of a black woman (Carla Grey) with a white man. During the time, people said the same thing about mixed relationships let alone mixed marriages. I'm proud that my soap opera shows bigotry to be exactly what it really is, i.e. bigotry. |

I find nothing wrong with this s/l.....I think RC's point of the story is more about LOVE then gay marriage. We have Kyle marrying the wrong guy because he still loves Oliver and we have Dorian marrying Amelia but still in love with David. |

I think the big problem is the Dorian storyline. Altough she may believe in it, she is not doing it for the right reasons. Otherwise, I think it is a good storyline. |

I agree with samjam, when soap operas concentrate on social issues, whatever they may be , they destroy the whole concept of what a soap is supposed to be.. There can be a gay couple as well as a straight couple , a mixed and otherwise in the context of the show , and there would be no problem and it would also promote whatever issue is being projected, without constantly having to insult one side or the other . just let it be a soap ... not a political issue which as I said before it makes the show a total bore. |

Never watched this show before as I'm, as you can tell by my screen name, a long time DAYS fan, but was home with the flu this week, and fell in love with this show. I love that a soap can spin social and or current event issues into it's show and do it in an entertaining way. |

Quote AuraMan: Quote geew1992: I think the big problem is the Dorian storyline. Altough she may believe in it, she is not doing it for the right reasons. Otherwise, I think it is a good storyline. I AGREE! Agree, Dorian is ruining this storyline. It's the term "Gay Marriage" most people are opposed to since traditionally marriage is between man and woman. Find another term/word other than the word "marriage" to legally bond, may be more acceptable to many. According to the dictionary, the word "gay" means happy and joyous- not homosexual. People became used to the double meaning of that word. There is so much other than intamincy to same sex relationships, Soaps don't even touch the surface of most politically correct issues, such as Starr and Cole's teen pregnancy s/l. Most pregnant teens don't have the luxury of living in a wealthy relative's house complete will maid service, cooks, and servants! |
