I am in total agreement with rm12, that this soap is forcing me to watch this storyline. The idea that this will somehow appeal to a younger audience is ridiculous. I don't want to see Gay and Lesbian marriage and I shouldn't have to be subjected to it. I have watched this program for many years and enjoyed the content but, now I will be forced to watch either Days of Our Lives or As the World Turns in this time slot.

nobody is forcing you to watch anything. i would much rather watch a gay storyline than the todd/blair/tea mess where both women are being portrayed as desperate victims who will do anything to "win" a man. that is not enjoyable to me so i watch it go by on ff and enjoy the rest of the show. and fyi as the world turns has a gay storyline as well so i'm sure you wouldn't want to watch that either.

Quote AuraMan:
Quote rm12: I may be in the minority but I'm sick of the constant gay/lesbian storyline. I guess it's not popular to say you're not pro gay marriage so the writers are bombarding us with Viki and Dorian and their support for gay marriage, even going as far as having Dorian "marry" a lesbian. I'd have more respect for the writers if they had one of the candidates saying that she's NOT for gay marriage. Guess that's not the chic viewpoint right now.

I can't imagine what goes on at a writer's meeting but these writers have gotten it WRONG with what Dorian and Amelia are doing. Who in their right mind would go through something as important as marriage to make a point for gay rights? This storyline is a travesty and I would think that many gay and lesbians would be OUTRAGED with what the writers are proposing as a plot. The same thing holds for Nick and Kyle. They have only know each other for a short time and they are already walking down the aisle. What gives with that?

1 Life Writers, watch what you are projecting. It is not realistic!

I agree, I have nothing against gay marriage if it is legalized that is fine. But I resent a soap being a soapbox for it. It is not taking a realistic look at the subject nor giving both sides a chance, the people who are not for gay marriage are treated like they are lunatics. Apparently the writers are more concerned with promoting their cause than writing a good soap. I am looking for romance and adventure in the afternoon not this silliness.,

Quote SparkApCider: I just wish the storylines weren't always PSAs. That gets on my nerves.

I actually find Dorian/Amelia story interesting with potential, but it's being poorly executed. The only thing that would make this story break is to have Dorian actually share some real talk with Amelia, or have them fall for each other.

Don't be ludicous....Dorian a lezbian, it only took her until 50 to discover this, get real

C'mon writers. How BAD is that?

I thought the whole thing was ridiculous!! + I had to wait till it was on Soapnet late at night to watch as my little one was home when it aired on ABC!! Between the kids being their own gaurdians(seems like it) and this s/l) it's a bit much!! I want to watch my show not explain it( I mean that with the Dorian s/l not Fish and Kyle)!!

To the writers of One Life To Live:
You have embarrased and shamed yourselves, and hurt your ratings with this gay storyline. Are you so clueless that you don't know 90% of us are disgusted by it? Do you think you can shove it down our throats and change our minds? Do you wrongly assume that we'll continue watching programming that make us sick? No! We simply turn you off in favor of decent script.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU....
I am an "oldtimer" who has been pleasantly surprised by how much i am enjoying this storyline and have fallen in love with Kyle and Oliver thanks to the talented actors Brett Claywell and Scott Evans....there is a sweet and romantic innonence to their story and the chemistry between them is so amazing that what comes across strongly is that this is a "Love Story" between two people and their gender really is irrevelant........I do admit that i didnt care for the Dorian/Mass gay wedding saga but the end result was the reunification of Kyle and Oliver and the pay off thus far has been wonderful...they just have to be the most adorable couple on daytime......JMHO...
.
KUDOS TO OLTL...and especially to BRETT and SCOTT...

I think the gay/lesbianins in the soaps should be left out. It's sick and a disgrace to place it there. I get tired of the story lines on that. I watch the programs for nothing more than the mistry content in them. Why should there always be bed scenes. And why are there always affairs/ divorces, and such. what a disgrace to marriage. Can't any marriages survive and go the distance marriage is intended?. Please consider the content you are putting out

So I was watching on Tuesday when my 13 year old son came home from school. He walked in just as Fish and Kyle were kissing. ( I took their scene as my Que to get a drink) But my son went in the living room and saw the kiss) The look on his face was priceless! Complete and utter horror. He asked me why was this on tv( he asked if people really liked seeing guys swap spit? I said why do guys like wathching girls and guys(or girl girl do like wise his answer was thats different)? I said some people wanna see it. He said do you? I said No. So he asked why are you watching it. I said because I like the rest of the s/l. and why should I quit watching a show i've watced for years just because they have a s/l that does nothing for me(neither does the idea of Clint and Vicki). and so I explained that everyone has a right to watch what they like(with in reason)and what we don't like don't watch. He told his dad about it when he came home. Dad had a different take.

I love the story of Kyle and Oliver, and not that it matters but I'm a 35 year old straight gal!
The chemistry between this two characters is awesome, when I watch them I don't see a gay s/l I see a great love story. If the closed minded, bigots don't like it then turn it off!

Quote StacyHater: What gets me is that homosexuality makes you turn it off but rape and murder and kidnapping and incest and such is fine. And also, being gay is NOT a choice. Maybe some people decide sometime in life to try the other way, but I never once thought that I would like to be with a woman, and never had. I never made the decision that I would be with men. Did you? While in puberty, when you were discovering yourself, did you have to think, "Should I live my life loving men, or maybe women?" I seriously doubt it. And for God's sake, there is a BIG difference between a gay and a pedophile. Damn....

Back in '93 when Marty was being raped, I couldn't watch. I kept turning my eyes away from the TV as those scenes were too painful to watch. So from my perspective, no, rape isn't fine, nor is it watchable. Murders usually don't take too much time and are sort of watchable, but never okay. Incest also isn't something I am interested in. Now on to Fish and Kyle. I happened to be watching the other day while they were discussing whether they should go out or stay home and they ended up kissing. There was the kiss on camera, then the camera panned up and right and Fish and Kyle were no longer on the screen. Was it watchable? Sure. I would certainly rather watch two people with genuine feelings for each other in a display of affection than a vicious rape scene.

A few years back on another ABC soap, there was a couple who were considered "hot". They were not young, but they were popular. They had quite a few love scenes, including bedroom scenes. Well, as they were not young, they also had quite a few wrinkles. So. Here we had a popular male/female couple who had love scenes and I couldn't watch because I couldn't seem to get past the wrinkles! I guess as long as Fish and Kyle aren't wrinkled, I don't care what their gender is and they can have love scenes on my TV screen anytime the script calls for it. This must make me "wrinkle~phobic"....

excuse me..but i dont think Soap Operas were created to be viewed by 13 year old boys but instead for an adult audience just as some Movies and Primetime shows are....if you are a regular viewer of Soaps then you obviously know what they contain so its your responsibility to direct your Son to the shows that are meant for his age group..also in this era of VCR's and DVR's many viewers tape their shows so that they can watch them at a more appropriate time...

WOW, did you take a poll of all the OLTL watchers? 90% huh!! I am not a OLTL writer but I bet I can guess that they don't really give a flying flip what you are disgusted by.
I'm disgusted by the Todd/Tea/Blair crap, do you think they care?

jnlforever, you are my new favorite poster. It boggles my mind to think people get sick off seeing two very attractive men kiss, yet eat up the murder, drugging of siblings and nephews, kidnapping and graverobbing, etc.
