Not trying to worry any loyal OLTL fans but for the past weeks I have been reading a lot on another soap site which is pretty much accurate about everything it posts. I just read tonight and article "OLTL to be axed in 2010" they say if they have some miracle rating boost it would allow the show to stay on. Also in the article it says the reasoning for moving AMC was to save it from being axed first. If this is true I feel in the future (within the next couple of years)3-4 maybe all of the soaps may not even exsist at all. SO OLTL fans lets hope it is all hear say for the time being. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? |

WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? The single, most effective way to have your voice heard at ABC is to write (snail mail) directly to the President of ABC Television. Do NOT write to Frons - he doesn't care what anybody else wants!!! Write to HIS BOSS. Want to make sure they don't even consider cancelling OLTL? Send a letter or postcard. Send several - every week. Have a favorite actor/actress you want to see get more airtime or better storylines; whether it be General Hospital, All My Children, or One Life to Live? TPTB count the pieces of snail mail that come in and it does carry some weight. Anne Sweeney President, ABC Television Network Disney Media Networks Division 500 South Buena Vista Blvd. Burbank, CA 91521 We need to move on this now and keep up the volume of postcards and letters hitting ABC studios. Show TIIC that there are still LOTS of people who love and care about these soaps. |

They have seen the future and it is game shows and reality shows cheap programming and lotsa of profit for them. The network's figure we can leave them anytime with cable the rating's show this so they really don't care about Snail Mail they care about money watch the shows buy the product's when that don't happen they move on to something that will make them money....If you really want to make a difference write to the sponser's tell them how much you love there product's and enjoy seeing there commerical's while watching OLTL you would have a better chance of keeping our show |

I'm with the rest of you, I would hate to see OLTL to suffer the same fate as GL. But, I'm with another poster, I think that we have to do everything we have to and save OLTL(if it is danger)and the rest of our shows. I think that one of thew things we have to do is watch everyday(whether we like the storylines or not). We will have the write people at ABC. We will also have to write(as someone else stated) Brian Fronzs boss. But, I do have a question: If you watch OLTL online do the commericials online count like the ones on tv do? The reason that I am asking is I'm not home during the day(at least not right now. I am behind on OLTL, so, I'll have to catch up. But, when I do catch up and I'm watching it on abc.com or anywhere else, will it help in ratings? |

I hope it is just a rumor. I started watching OLTL last year and it will not be the same without it but I will still have two more soaps if it does get canceled which I hope it doesn't. |

I think it is a rumor. I have been watching since the 90s and I just absoulutly love this show. I would be so devastated if it did cancel. it is my favorite soap right now. I love the town of Llanview. I would be sooooo heart broken to say goodbye.I watch everyday at 2 it is like something I look forward to everyday. |

I agree with you guys. I think this is a rumor as well. I've been watching since 2005. I think this show is great. |

Look at the other long-running soaps that have been cancelled. Nothing is safe anymore. OLTL is arguably the best soap on TV right now, but Frons won't put his buddies, Guza and Pratt out of work, so what's left? OLTL. Let your voice be heard. Get those cards and letters flowing into ABC. Tell them that this soap is worth keeping. |

Again I have to emphasize the importance of not resting on our laurels. We cannot take for granted that TPTB will "do the right thing" when it comes to this show. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Sound off and let the President of ABC know how much this show means to you. |

Look at the ratings yourself. OLTL has historically been the third top rated daytime drama for years now. It is the top rated soap opera on ABC. They would be stupid to cancel it. If they are going to axe anything it will be AMC (which is arguably the worst daytime drama on the air right now next to ATWT). If they keep AMC instead of OLTL they are making a HORRIBLE mistake. Oh, and they are also making a stupid mistake if they decide to axe all daytime television in exchange for game shows. If they do that they might as well just start going to dead time during day time hours. Game shows and talks shows are cheap to produce but have VERY little staying power in most cases. |

Brian Frons, the President of ABC Daytime is buddies with both Chuck Pratt - the headwriter on AMC - and Bob Guza the headwriter on GH. What do you think he'd do if he's told to axe one of the soaps? He will pick the one that doesn't employ one of his buddies. That's why we need to go over his head and make sure his BOSS knows where the fans stand on the matter. Writing to Frons does no good - he doesn't care. He doesn't even think the fans know what they like AND that they have to be TOLD what they like - and yes, that's on record. As long as Frons is in charge of Daytime programming, OLTL would be the first soap to go. |

I don't agree AT ALL. Given the choice to do your job well or keep your friends happy you do your job well. If he wants to keep his job then he needs to justify what his actions are. He isn't going to cancel his top rated soap just because his friends work on the other shows. That is simply not how business works. People watch their own back sides in the business world. The only reason they would cancel OLTL instead of AMC (quite possibly the worst show on television right now) is if OLTL costs much more produce than AMC does. |

I'm guessing you don't know much about Frons. You should take a gander at his record. The statements he's made and continues to make. How he denigrates the fans. He doesn't CARE! He thinks he knows everything. He thinks he knows better than the fans what it is they like. He has his favorites and will always manuever in whatever way he can to make sure they are taken care of. Go back and reference the "Real Greenlee" campaign for AMC if you want to see examples of his handiwork. He thinks actors don't matter to the fans - that they will accept just anyone in certain roles... His remarks are legendary. Don't think for one moment that he wouldn't stoop to this. He'd do it in a heartbeat. |
