I agree I did turn off OLTL after watching it for over 23 yrs. I did not want my children to see it. Please don't make people who are Christians out to be bad because we know it is wrong. I love my children and will always be there for them but I pray I raised them to believe in God and his word. Anyways I needed to give up the soaps I have better thngs to do with my time so this made it really easy. It was the last soap I did watch. I guess it isn't for the fans who have always been there. And yes I still was my children to believe in Christ and some things are wrong just like adultry is wrong even if socity accepts it. I am glad the Lady who played Chris's mom quit instead of saying what the writers wanted. The character would not have turned her back on her God to accept what goes against him. And if she can leave the show for her belief I can stop watching. Please don't say I am wrong for using my freedom of speech that my husband, brothers and uncles and aunts have served in the military to give me this right and my right to believe in my Jesus. I think the hour I spent watching the soap I will spend with my children.

caresssoap, I think it is great that you will be spending more time with your children......I'm just curious but what was a "good Christian" doing watching a soap anyways....it was okay for you to watch people having sex before marriage, commit adultery, commit murder I love the double standard of the "good Christians"

I'm going to go out on a limb here attempting not to offend the masses.

Not all Christians live in a bubble. Even Jesus visited places that weren't in line with his beliefs.

Many people watch soaps and don't live their lives the way the characters do. It's all very entertaining to me. If you don't like the scene or a particular character "ff' it (as I do when Stacy is on the screen).

I think all of us are entitled to our opinions. Some posters criticize other posters and many hold their opinions of other posters to themselves. I try to exercise the latter.

It's a great board so let's keep everything in perspective. I've left other boards because many posters became vile and uncivilized. Even I had to self evaluate my comments sometimes. LOL!

Please, let's all try to respect others posters and their beliefs.

First let me say Fish's dad acted like an ass yesterday!! While I too would not be overjoyed I would NEVER turn my back on my kids!!

Don't feel bad Caress I don't let my kids watch either(before it was because of the teen sex s/l and some others) and now definitley not! I don't care for this either but I ffw or watch ATWT(channel surf on that one too). I think it's great others are getting s/l they can relate too, but @ the sametime I don't want to watch. I'm just not into it! and that doesn't make me a bad person!!

I find this thread interesting. When I saw the reaction of Fish's parents toward Layla and then Christian. I thought, "wow, this is gonna push some people's buttons." But ya know what? THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE LIKE FISH'S PARENTS! We still have people who are racist and are homophobic. I would look at this storyline in a different way. MAYBE, just MAYBE, the writers and the powers that be are trying to show audiences that we need to "lighten up" on our views about gay relationships. Why not use this storyline as a way to open doors to communicate? I bet there are many Christian families that are thinking EVERYTHING is just "Hunky-dorry" in their homes WHILE in their midst are family members that are gay and really want to come out but are TERRIFIED that they will be ostracized by their parents who are WAY too conservative! On another level, there are probably people who are upset that Barack Obama is our president!

Im a roman catholic and I take serious offense to that!! Like I said Im happy some others are getting a s/l they can relate to! but the fact I don't want to watch doesn't make me (or anyone else) a bad person. And by the way for the comment on Christians shouldn't watch because the shows have s/l that veir off the path we believe God wants us to be on, For me I think it's more of what not to do! I find the bedhopping sick! The teen s/l are one sided(and riddiculous).. Lately it seems that the show is having fun making all of it's parents look like morons!! And no watching soaps is in the 10 commamdments so I think on ok to watch!

Well if one of my kids was gay, I would tell them it isn't ok. He would be dishoned and never spoke to again.
