Philip Carey
Birthday: 1925-07-15 |
A former U.S. Marine in World War II and the Korean War, a large portion of Phil's acting career has consisted in starring in motion pictures. "Operation Pacific," his first feature film, starred John Wayne and landed Phil a long-term contract with Warner Brothers. His time at Warner's, later at Columbia Pictures, Phil went up against many of Hollywood's legendary actors, including Gary Cooper, Henry and Peter Fonda, Tyrone Power, Fred MacMurray and Kim Novak.
Raised in the Long Island towns of Rosedale and Malverne, Carey dreamed of being an actor all his life. He went on to study drama at the University of Miami, then landed his big break during a summer stock production of "Over 21" when a representative of Warner Brothers asked him to take the screen test, inevitably launching his film career.
Sadly, Phil passed away the weekend of February 6, 2009.
