2. Marlena (Deidre Hall) goes on a killing spree, Days of Our Lives
When beloved characters began dropping like flies in Salem, no one would have suspected the town’s psychiatrist, Marlena, was the serial killer! While Salem’s finest, including Abe, Maggie and Alice were not actually killed, Marlena was indeed the Salem Stalker. Fortunately, it was revealed the “Doc” was drugged by Tony and had an excuse for her shocking behavior!
3. Taylor Hayes Forrester (Hunter Tylo) hits the bottle, The Bold and the Beautiful
The glamorous Taylor was once the voice of sage wisdom. After her second reincarnation, her dark side emerged when her battle with alcohol was revealed. All those years of playing second fiddle to Brooke finally caught up with Taylor. The once poised and now frazzled doc is a far cry from the together lady who originally landed in Los Angeles.
4. Jonathan (Tom Pelphrey) uses his power for good, not evil, Guiding Light
Jonathan had succeeded in his goal of hurting everyone in Springfield. Yet when his beloved Tammy died, he channeled his grief to protect his daughter. After he and Sarah went over a cliff and were presumed dead, Jonathan emerged one last time for a final farewell to Reva. The changed man disappeared to protect his baby from nemesis, Alan.
5. Kendall Hart (Alicia Minshew) shows she actually has heart, All My Children
When Kendall arrived in Pine Valley, she was a total teen terror. After helping her sister Bianca cope with being raped, as well as conceal Bink’s pregnancy, Kendall went from villain to vixen with heart. While she still has lapses in judgment, Kendall became a feisty lady who makes her mama, Erica, proud.

Barbara Ryan went from heroine to villain overnight. After discovering she was financially used by husband Craig, combined with an explosion that left her disfigured, Barbara unraveled. Fraud, attempted murder, kidnapping Oakdale’s loveliest ladies and enlisting her children to commit crimes transformed Babs as we knew her forever.
7. Laura (Genie Francis) lets Luke (Anthony Geary ) go, General Hospital
Luke and Laura were the first soap super-couple and their wedding was a worldwide event. While every super-couple endures ups and downs, they always end up together. However, Laura willingly walked away from Luke and her family in Port Charles so he could have a “normal” life with Tracy. This damsel is still in distress, but chose to go it alone.
8. Starr (Kristen Alderson) grows from daddy’s girl to mom on One Life to Live
Starr Manning was born with a mischievous streak given to her by father, Todd. Soon, Cole became the new man in her life and the two conceived a child. While Starr once would have done anything for her father, she put her child’s best interest ahead of all others and chose to give the baby up for adoption.
9. Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) goes from saccharine to cyanide, Days of Our Lives
The sweet sister of Carrie and daughter of Roman and Marlena would never resort to bad girl behavior. However, when Sami Brady claimed her unborn child belonged to her sister’s fiancé during their wedding ceremony, a personality to rival the entire Dimera clan emerged.
10. Kevin (Greg Rikaart) isn’t such a bad guy after all, The Young and the Restless
When Michael Baldwin’s kid brother Kevin arrived, he was nothing short of a sociopath. Once an Internet predator and attempted murderer, the complex layers of Kevin pulled back to reveal a shattered boy who had endured years of abuse at his father’s hands. Though still a schemer, Kevin is now the dark knight we root for.
