Soap Opera July 3 Pre-Emptions!

Wednesday, June 24 2009

(NBC)
The cookouts, parties and fireworks that surround the Fourth of July weekend will not only start on Saturday July 4 this year, but on Friday July 3 for many as well!

With the holiday falling on a Saturday, the ABC network has decided to take Friday July 3 off as well and air encores of all of their soap operas. All My Children will air their May 15 episode where everyone scrambled to save Ian, General Hospital will show their May 18 episode where Rebecca made a deal with Alexis, and One Life to Live will replay their March 18 episode where Todd made plans to fight for his kids.

If you'd like to read what else will happen during these encore episodes, please click the show links above to read our past recaps. While all CBS soaps will air new episodes on Friday, NBC's Days of Our Lives will not be seen due to the Wimbledon - and won't be seen on Thursday July 2 as well.

All soaps will resume to regular programming on Monday July 6.

Soaps.com wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend!

CBS ROCKS!! not only for showing new episodes Friday but for finally canceling GL!!

What a bummer. Back in the days before DVR. VHS and Soapnet, holidays were the only time I could watch my soaps. Not everyone has those options so I guess they miss all soaps since holiday reruns seem to be the norm now. Oh well... when soaps fire actors who want to be paid what they deserve and cut out extras like free bagels in the greenroom, nothing cost saving surprises me any more.

Its always the ABC Soaps :P
CBS is always good with airing soaps before or during holidays.
I wont be watching CBS anymore once GL is canceled but I must say I like how CBS always airs the soaps!
