Updated on August 27, 2008:

All CBS soaps will not air on Friday, September 5, 2008 due to the US Tennis Open. However, look for them to resume as normal on Monday, September 8, 2008!

Previously Reported on April 18, 2008:

On Monday, September 1, 2008, those of you getting a day off of work with hopes of catching up on your favorite soaps, we have good and bad news for you.

Although regular ABC soap programming will be pre-empted that day to reflect the holiday, all three shows will be giving their viewers a little treat - repeats of some recent great episodes to highlight some the current front burner storylines.

All My Children fans will get to see an encore of the May 27, 2008 episode - and all the excitement that surrounded Jesse and Angie's wedding day! The recap for that can be seen here.

General Hospital viewers who missed the July 7, 2008 episode of Logan's stabbing will see a repeat of that and can also read the past update of it here.

One Life to Live fans who didn't get enough of the 40th Anniversary episodes can catch a repeat of Part 2, which originally aired on July 22, 2008. Can't wait? Read the recap here!

CBS soaps will not air a regular episode of As the World Turns, Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light and The Young and the Restless on September 1, 2008 due to the US Open Tennis.

NBC's Days of Our Lives will also be pre-empted on September 1, 2008 due to the holiday.

All soaps will resume regular programming on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, but if you're spending some time here on Labor Day feel free to leave your comments about your favorite storylines here!

We'll keep you updated as we receive more information!

Soaps.com wants to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day!

While I would prefer new episodes even on the holidays, I too would rather see classic reruns. Soap-Net rarely shows them any more, and I think I have figured out why. They don't want to remind viewers how good the soaps used to be in comparison to how bad they have become. When Soap-Net has shown early episodes I get much more involved than I do now. For example, the early Angie/Jesse episodes they showed when Jesse came back were so much better than the storylines these characters have now --- and it is not the fault of the actors. Until current episodes improve, ABC does not want to remind viewers how good these shows used to be.

I usually would want to watch CBS, but if they aren't showing it, I'll definitely watch ABC.

I think it is stupid for them to rerun an episode that was on just 2 months ago. I used to look forward to seeing the classic episodes that ABC ran on holidays. To see Erica, Adam, Vickie, Luke & Laura.. what fun. Now, I just take those episodes off my DVR.

Yea, I think everyone agrees...older episode's would have been a better idea. Everyone misses them and it would be great to see them for one more time! Does anyone ever think that you will be able to buy One life to live or All my children every epi on DVD? I think that would be awesome! I would diffently buy them all...i love the shows! I seen the One Life that there showing but not the AMC epi...so i will be looking forward to watch that one.

CBS should go all sports thats what they really want.Move all the CBS Soaps to their own new cable soap channel and independent TV stations could air them too.The soap would run five days a week 52 weeks a year .No exceptions even for war or terror attack.Let us have our diversion and escape!

What is the use of having Soapnet through Direct TV if you can't have the benefit of seeing the current episode even if it is prempted on CBS? Really! They shouldn't penalize those of use how finally get a day off and all we want to do is sit back and catch our favorite soap. Y&R fan for life.
