ABC Soap Previews: Where Did They Go?

Since Monday, June 30, 2008 all ABC soaps appear to have discontinued their normal end-of-the-show next-day previews – and our readers have been emailing us wondering why! Although ABC has yet to comment to Soaps.com about why they’ve made this change in their programming as of late, here’s our take on the situation…

As you are seeing, instead of bringing the fans each show’s next-day previews, the network has been promoting some of the show’s big storylines daily after each show. One day we’ve watched as All My Children’s Ryan/Greenlee storyline has been showcased, while other days we hear about General Hospital’s latest murder and One Life to Live’s Starr/Cole pregnancy/custody battle.

From past occurrences, we can tell you the network has done this before and has always brought back their daily previews. Whether or not they will do this again is still a mystery, but we tend to think that seeing that the previews are a big part of the ABC daytime lineup, they will again return one day.

Soaps.com will keep you posted should we hear anymore surrounding this latest change!

i heard that they stopped showing the previews b/c of budget cuts or something like that.

Thanks for this article. Just so you know, I've left a message for the publicist at GH for his explanation. I'll post when I hear something.

I keep reminding the GH fans not to fret about it because Soaps.com spoilers are revised every day and we give accurate previews of the next day's action!

I am starting to really get angry that there are not any previews for next day episodes of neither General Hospital, One Life to Live, or All My Children anymore!!!! ABC has never done this before and I don't have any idea why they are doing it now!!!!! The only reason I can think of why there are no more previews is because maybe they are doing some remodeling to the way the previews look. Who knows?? Anyways, I just want my soap previews back ASAP!!!! Anyone else agree me on this issue?

yr-gh-atwt your right. i read the same thing. i read it ether on soapzone or soapcentral and it read that abc runs the preview for 30 seconds and the money it's costing them,
they had to cut them out and i think put the money El's ware. so it dosn't look like abc is going to bring the previews back.

They've done this in the past during Sweeps.....I guess to keep the anticpation and the fans wanting more! I wish they would do the previews prior to the 3 minutes of commercials like they do on Y&R. Love this site!!

To be honest, I like the suspense of not knowing bits and pieces of what's going to happen. It makes me want to watch even more. So, whether they bring them back or not, I'm kinda getting used to not seeing them.

it is not all the serious who cares why they stopped showing them. the show aires on abc, if they want to sit there take away the previews then late them because out of all the stupid things to get mad over this has to be the stupidest

I just seen on this web site that all my children is in danger of maybe being canceled any one know anything?
