Of course we watch soaps, and know of others who watch shows, who know of people who watch soaps, and so on and so forth. However, have you ever wondered who exactly, age wise, monopolizes the majority of daytime soap viewers?

When it comes to all three networks, ABC, CBS and NBC, the average age has increased across the board by ten times! Steve Sternberg, who is the executive vice president of one of the world’s largest media firms, Magna Global, has just released data stating that the age of those watching daytime television has gone up from fifty last season to fifty-four this season! Breaking down the networks, ABC has seen a change from forty-nine year-olds to fifty-three year olds, CBS from fifty-six to fifty-nine and NBC from forty-three to forty-nine.

Although CBS’s The Price Is Right landed the oldest audience, with the common viewer ranging around sixty-four, NBC’s Days of Our Lives scored the youngest daytime audience with an averaging age topping out at forty-nine. When combining each networks' shows to include daytime, evening and primetime slots, CBS still held the oldest audience at age fifty-five, while NBC remained the youngest with viewers averaging at fifty-two.

Soaps.com wants everyone to know that though these are neat statistics to look back on, we welcome every fan, young and old, and enjoying hearing your views of daytime today no matter what! Feel free to comment below… maybe tell us your age range and the ages of others you know who watch 'what' networks and 'what' soaps!

I started watching General Hospital whenever I was 8, and I'm 16 now, so I guess I would be a young one. I started watching One Life to Live not long after that, and is the only one that I watch now.

I've watch AMC on and off ever since it's debut. 1st with my Mom when I was just a kid. And I watch OLTL faithfully now. Never watched GH and do not plan on starting.
I guess I am an older viewer since I am 50 years young this year!

I have been a devoted fan of The Bold and the Beautiful ever since I was 10, and now I have just turned 19 years old.

I have watched Days since I was 14 and Y&R since I was 17.

I started watching soaps in the 60's. The first soap I watched was The Doctors. Started watching Another World and Days of our Lives when I was 12. When I was a teenager all my friends and I watched Dark Shadows. During the 80's and 90's I watched 5 soaps; now I only watch The Young and the Restless. My husband retired in 2003 and now he is hooked on Y&R. I've been a soap fan for 46 years! Boy I feel old.

Well of course the age goes up. Most people watching daytime TV don't have daytime jobs, and many are retirees. This also doesn't measure those who are TiVo'ing soaps to watch later. Now if you gave me the stats of daytime viewing plus off-time viewing, like TiVos and SoapNet viewership, I think the average age would be quite different. (PS: An average age going up one or two years does not equal "the average age has increased across the board by ten times!")

I've watched young and the restless for 35+ years. I think
it's the best soap on tv. I love cane and lily. I am now 78
years old. Please don't cancel the show!
