The Hillbillies Have Hijacked the House!

Wednesday, October 08 2008
Grady makes a pass at Vanessa, Billy moves into the mansion and Mallet has a surprise for Marina.

Mallet tries to steal Marina's donut at work. He suggests that they go over to the house to do some work. She doesn't have time and tells him she's done with the house. She launches into a long rant about how much she hates houses and what a waste of time they are. He thinks this rant sounds rehearsed. She walks off. He eats her donut.

Grady sits with Vanessa at Towers. She knows him by reputation; she says it takes a lot to scare her though. "Older women intrigue me," Grady says. Vanessa points out that her son is older than him. He asks her to take a walk with him.

At the mansion, Bill and Lizzie are going over the details for their presentation and flirting when Alan wheels in. He offers to help her out since Bill seems busy. Bill tells him that this job is their baby. Alan accuses Bill of just being Lizzie's 'goofy sidekick' and then calls him a 'freeloader'. Billy walks in with his suitcase. He didn't want to miss out on all the fun. As he laughs, Alan cringes. "The hillbillies have hijacked the house! Elisabeth, lock up the liquor cabinets!" Alan says. He and Billy attack each other before Lizzie forces them to sit and behave. She takes Bill aside and tells him that his father can't move in; it just won't work. They begin to bicker. He threatens to invite Mindy to come and live with them. Decker calls. Lizzie tells him how hard they have been working. Getting off the phone, she forces Bill away with her to rehearse. Billy and Alan stare at each other. Looking at Alan's wheelchair, Billy wonders how fast it can go. "Why don't we run you over? Then we can find out," Alan sneers.

Lizzie and Bill sit in the garden playing with kites and talking about their presentation. They banter and she tells him that he better stay on his game or she'll wipe the floor with him. Soon, they begin kissing. He stops and says they have to get back to work. She asks him what that meant. He tells her they just got 'caught up'. When he goes inside, she follows him and tells him they need to be honest about their feelings. He admits that he understands her but doesn't know what to do.

At Company, Daisy tells Mallet that he is either cool or crazy. He says he's both; he's buying the house for Marina and he wants her to live there with them. She tells him he should be talking to Marina about this and worries that she won't take the surprise well. Mallet is sure she will be thrilled.

Grady surprises Dinah in her room. She reminds him of the task she set him. He tells her that he's stumbled on a better idea than seducing Lizzie: Seducing Bill's mother, Vanessa! Dinah flips out and begins slapping him with a pillow and calling him an idiot. Grady tells her he's only trying to be helpful. Dinah's outraged. She reminds him that Lizzie is her target.

Dinah arrives at the TV station mumbling to herself. Ashlee tells her that doing the Bill and Lizzie slam is a little harsh and might make them look bad. Dinah says that she doesn't really hate her brother, but she's worked hard for him and he hurt her. This isn't revenge; it's tough love, she insists. After checking over Ashlee's, work, she tells her that she's done a great job. Ashlee remembers that the electric company called and they haven't been paying their bills.

At The Beacon, Daisy is carrying her boxes down the hall when Grady bumps into her. She snipes about him and his lady boss before telling him that she is moving in with Mallet and Marina. He imagines this is so she can be protected from people like him. Alan appears and calls over to Grady. Daisy jumps on the elevator. Alan asks Grady for a quick favor.

Grady arrives at the mansion while Lizzie and Bill rehearse for tomorrow's meeting. He hands Lizzie some flowers. She tells him to go. Grady shows them the article he just read. Bill snaps it up and reads it over. When Lizzie looks it over, she notices that it gives her all of the credit for their upcoming deal. Alan watches from upstairs. Bill walks out.

Vanessa arrives at the mansion and finds Billy in the hall. He points out that he is moving in right across the hall from her. She thinks her hair must be looking good because he's the second man to hit on her today. She warns him not to get any big ideas. "It's too late. I already have," he smiles. He tries to kiss her. She backs him off. Bill spots them. Vanessa ducks into her room. Bill tells his father that he and Vanessa are on different tracks. Billy still intends to make another effort for her.

Marina walks over to the house and says goodbye to it. Before she can walk away, she turns and hurries inside. To her surprise, there is already furniture inside. Mallet arrives. Marina rants about the Boudreaus moving in before the paperwork is finished. She notices that there is a photo of him and asks him why it's there. Looking around, she finds even more familiar things and realizes that it's actually their stuff. He explains what that means. "Welcome home detective," he says, kissing her. They sit on the porch and he tells her he knows how much she loves this house. He's realized that he wants all the things she's been talking about. After telling her that he's asked Daisy to move in with them, he asks her what she thinks. She's speechless and walks back inside. He follows her in. "This is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me," she says, but she can't do it: It's a huge commitment. He thinks they can handle it. She worries that rushing ahead will only ruin things between them. Mallet doesn't think that they should over-think this. Daisy walks in with her box. When both women decide they are moving in, Mallet welcomes them both. Later, Daisy calls her mother to fill her in on her new job and living arrangements.

Next on Guiding Light:

Daisy is disgusted to find that Grady is working for the Spauldings again.

Dinah is sure that Bill and Lizzie's deal won't go through.

That. Was. AWESOME! I knew Marina wouldn't be thrilled with the house, so I wasn't disappointed. What's next for these two? Hmm...Marriage? Or babies? They are going backwards.

Okay time for a reality check:
1. Mallet buys Harley's house - where did he get the money.
2. Marina whines and sobs for the house, then she acts
like she doesn't want it. Yes, right.
3. Marina didn't want anything to do with Harley BUT now
she doesn't want Harley's house to be sold.
4. Now don't everyone hate me, but Lizzie is driving
me nuts. She wants Bill so bad she can't concentrate
on anything. Kick him out and go on with your life.
5. What happened to all that crying about Sara, guess she
forgot about her AGAIN.
6. Everyone moving into the Spaulding's house.
7. Thought Vanessa had money, why would she live there.
8. Love Billy but not today.
9. Dinah needs to go forward and leave Bill alone.
Bill doesn't care about her.

Mallet and Marina are totally pathetic couple and people on the show!
My God, Mallet really bought the house to keep Marina happy and he siad that "he was sick & tired of living in hotel rooms (My God rent a damn apartment!). - Marina (totally obvious) wanted the house when Buzz told them that Harley wanted to sell it, acting like a selfish & spoiled little girl, and then acting like she's losing a piece of her childhood home (she'd never even lived there!). Then when Mallet did surprise her, she wasn't thrilled that Mallet did this for her [We all know that what she wanted!], then she got happy when Daisy was also moving in!
Mallet, Marina and Daisy in Harley's house: What a nice little family (makes me wanna puke). - So What's Next? Buzz, Frank and Coop moving in too! - Have the whole Coopers in to house [that's much better!]
Mallet also said that buy the house is a good investment (for now)! Mallet and Marina playing house won't last for long, something will happen or they can't make to mortgage and lose the house! [Now That's Real Drama!]

Need to correct a line that I just wrote:
Mallet also said that buy the house is a good investment (for now)! Mallet and Marina playing house won't last for long, something will happen or they can't make thr mortgage payment and lose the house! [Now That's Drama!]

Plus:
Where do Mallet get the money to make an offer for the house? He has no money! He must have used his whole savings to buy it. What lender gave him a mortgage rate? And how can Mallet and Marina pay the mortgage, the bills, the groceries & household necessities on their paychecks (together or separate), when that comes up after they finish playing house! - It won't last (we all know it)!

The show is really pushing Mallet and Marina in our faces to be the next power couple, and I'm sorry it's just not working! I'm am almost gdone with this show, the house I can handle (for now) but if they throw marriage & children for Mallet and Marina in our faces next - I will be DONE with "Guiding Light" for good!!!

Is everyone going to move into the mansion? When is it my turn?

Hey mom6,

I think we should ALL move it. What the heck, it sure beats the Beacon.

Nothing-to-Fear:

I so agree with you about M&M, I am SO sick of the writers pushing the two of them in our faces. I can't stand Marina!! Mallet has NO money, so how in heck did he buy the house. Oh, maybe when he had the money in his desk (stolen money) he used that. I don't remember him turning that money over to anyone. Marina spent all her money, don't know where it went, but she has none now. (Her fortune was from Ben).

Maybey they are going to make Mallett a dirty cop, thats the only reason I could think of how he got the money. We all I guess just need to find ways to deal w/M&M until the writers get a clue and break them up or kill them. They are trying to replace them as the new Harley and Gus and we all know that will never happen. I always thought that Marina should get w/ Remy. I do love Billy and I hope him and Alan have some real good screen time together.Cant wait till X-Mass and Thanksgiving. I would not want to move into the mansion and deal w/ Dinah acting like she is 12 and Greasy haning in the shadows.

Man, some of you are harsh on poor Mallet and Marina! Mallet and Marina could certainly afford the house on 2 cop salaries if it's assumed to be an average small-town suburbia home---that's around $145,000 right now. They're probably paying more in rent, like Mallet said. Sorry, but if a law professor (avg sal $65,000) could afford it, so could 2 cops (combined avg salaries just over $65,000). Although Clayton may have a higher salary if he holds a Dean's position, Marina's may be over $33k since she's a detective, and we don't know what any of them have in the way of savings.

However, just a few weeks ago, Mallet bailed Dinah outta jail and said he'd accumulated "quite a bit of savings" and wasn't doing much else with it...

I like that the writers are taking their time with this s/l and haven't just quickly moved M&M in together. They're showing us that that isn't all this relationship is about. And Marina seems to have chilly feet. She didn't seem okay with it until Daisy agreed. I'm not so sure Marina wanted to take this step with Mallet, alone. I think this relationship is very believable and true-to-life and I like the way they are being portrayed (and the slower s/l).

Nothing-to-Fear:

I agree with your post completely. What a waste of airtime.
I didn't think there was anyway on earth a couple could be more boring and pathetic then Cassie and Josh. But I was wrong. Mallet and Marina are the worst couple ever and I'm sick to death of them being shoved in my face.

Billy and Alan's interaction gave me quite a laugh. Billy & Vanessa are adorable! I'm also sick of Mallet and Marina, I mean, I don't like Marina's character anyways, and don't really see her as an essential to the show. Dinah beating Grady with a pillow was also humorous. Bill and Lizzie are getting on my nerves.
