Lizzie and Bill bicker, the Coopers try to clean up Harley's, Lizzie convinces Alan to go through with the surgery.

At Company, Buzz tells Mallet and Marina that Harley isn't coming home. She has a job and a guy. They're shocked. He says that she's selling the house that Gus built her. Mallet offers his help. Marina thinks they should clean it up so that it can actually sell.

Mallet and Marina head to Harley's. This is the first house she's known since its beginning. She remembers how they built the walls together, as a family. She's sentimental, but she misses her aunt. Although she was angry at her for a long time, she realizes that you can't steal someone's boyfriend; they have to leave on their own. She misses the way her family used to be. "Coopers always rally," he says as they clean up.

At the station, Natalia thanks Frank for managing to keep Rafe at the local jail. He doesn't know how much longer he can do that. She goes in to see her son. He tells her that his staying in there is the best thing for everyone right now. She's proud of his faith and hands him some books. He hopes that Alan will come to visit him.

Alexandra tracks Dinah down at Towers and joins her at the bar. Dinah says that their partnership is over and she should have never betrayed her brother. Alex bursts out laughing. Dinah refuses to change her mind. Alex begins regaling her with tales of her rivalry with Alan; she doesn't want Dinah to make the same mistakes that she made. Dinah doesn't want to hear it. Alex breaks the news that Lizzie now owns half the company. Dinah says she can handle it. Alex laughs again.

At Cedars, Lizzie tells her grandfather that he will die if he doesn't have the operation. He would rather die than risk losing his relationship with Gus. He sends her off to find him a newspaper. When she walks into the corridor, she finds Bill on the phone, bad mouthing Lizzie to members of the board. He gets off the phone. She says she got back in the business for them and the family legacy. He still doesn't appreciate it. She worries about Alan's brain and cuddles into Bill's chest. She still refuses to walk away from the company. "You'll understand when I have to kick you out," he says, hugging her. He slips away and begins making calls to have her thrown out. She tracks him down and starts to taunt him. He accuses her of being out of her league. She argues that she is an asset. He laughs at her. She wants to have something real to bring her daughter back to. Bill tells her to stop playing the Sarah card and leaves when a call comes in.

Beth goes to see Alan with Peyton. She tells him to 'stop screwing with the family' and have the operation. He can't say goodbye to Gus. She reminds him that he'll have to say goodbye to everyone else if he doesn't. He smiles. She tells him to stop holding onto visions. As he holds Peyton, she begs him to play by the rules.

Lizzie finds Bill in the office. She asks him what his call was about. He's cagey and seems reluctant to give her any business details. She repeats that she owns 49 percent of the company. They begin fighting and he reminds her that she was about to turn on Alan and then turned on him instead. He threatens to tell Alan about that and tries to guilt her for being there instead of with her grandfather. She's sure that being at work is what would make Alan happy. This is what she is meant to be and what they could be together, she suggests. She strides off.

Alan slips into the jail to visit Rafe and Natalia. He tells him that he has a blood clot in his brain and the doctors think this may have caused his visions. He suggests that the family is being tested to prove their worth. Natalia thanks him for coming. Alan walks out and Lizzie finds him outside of the boarding house. "This is where it started," he explains. He fell down these stairs and began his relationship with Gus. She jokes that they keep a room on hold for them at Ravenwood. He'd gladly stay there to be with Gus. He's messed up with his other sons, but there is still hope for them. Gus, however, gives him a kind of unconditional love; a joy he has never known. Why would he want to give that up? She wishes there was another way to make him better, but there isn't. Although she can never be the son he's lost, she can forgive him and love him the way she did when she was little. Maybe they can have something just as strong as what he has with Gus? "You're more than I deserve," he says. "Please don't leave me alone," she cries. They join hands and he agrees to go through with the surgery.

Inside Harley's house, Beth tells Marina that living in the house felt like living with a ghost. Outside, Dinah walks by. Mallet tells her that the house is going up for sale. They catch up. She says that Bill really needs her and she likes to be needed. After she walks off, he goes inside and finds Marina playing with Peyton. He tries to entertain the baby until Beth returns. She takes the baby and leaves. Marina suggests they get some help cleaning up. "You mean a Cooper party?" he asks.

Dinah waits for Bill at the mansion. She confronts him about Lizzie taking over half the company. He vows to take her down. She offers to use the TV station to exploit Alan's condition and humiliate Lizzie. He's impressed that she is willing to fight dirty. He loves Lizzie, but he doesn't trust her and that counts for far more. She pulls out all of the dirt that she's dug up on Lizzie. Loving other people has made them soft, she explains, but now they are back together, the way it should be. He tells her he'll be busy at the office. She snaps and accuses him of always talking down to her. He concedes that he does and apologizes; she's the last person he wants to hurt.

The Cooper family joins at the house and plays cards. After they run out of food, Marina and Mallet start dancing. Natalia comes to the door at Frank's invitation. He informs her that Rafe is being transferred. He takes her back to the station to see him. Meanwhile, Marina and Mallet clean up after her family and complain about what slobs they are. Blake arrives, unable to believe that Harley is selling the house. She tells them that she is Harley's real estate agent and says that they need to clean it up fast.

Natalia goes to see her son and promises him that she will get him out of this. He asks her if she still believes in Gus. "Of course I believe," she says. Frank announces it's time. They take Rafe off. She cries.

Dinah and Bill wait at Cedars for Lizzie. She soon walks Alan in. Beth runs in afterwards. He tells her that he will be having the surgery, Lizzie and Bill leave to find a doctor. "Smart of you to work your brother while he's here," Alan tells Dinah. She says that she is back with Bill. For this betrayal, he warns her that his 'will to live' will be bad news for her. Meanwhile, Lizzie and Bill find the doctor's office and wait for him. He's impressed that she could talk Alan into this. She thanks him for being there, even though he's mad at her. When he walks out to page the doctor, he sees Dinah talking to Alan.
