Bill and Billy patch things up, Alan warns Bill will lose everything, Mel makes an admission to her brother, Alan has groupies.

Alan sits at the kitchen table with his "groupies". He tells them that their loved ones don't want them to feel sad about their losses. His son wants him to help them and suggests that they concentrate on their loved ones, maybe then they will hear them. Lizzie clears her voice to get his attention. Alan takes her aside. She wonders if he's gone mad and demands to know what's going on. "You might call these ladies 'Alan's groupies'," he explains before returning to the women. Lizzie watches in disbelief as he doles out spiritual advice and advises the women to let go of the past.

At the mansion, Bill and Dinah are talking about the governor. He has another meeting with him but he needs to prove he can get support behind him. He asks his sister to handle a press interview for him.

Natalia sits at Company and stares down at a photo of her son. She goes to see Alan at his house. He talks to her in the doorway. She worries about Rafe. He invites her into his meeting with all the other women. She decides this was a mistake and runs off. Alan follows but she gets away. Lizzie sits on the lawn and reminds him that no one trusts him. He wonders why she got them a house and put he and Beth back together then. She has no one else. "You and Bill weren't meant to be," he says. Bill isn't meant to have what he has and he will lose it all, just like he will never be able to make her happy.

Olivia bumps into Billy outside of Company. He has an armload of gifts for the baby but worries if his son will even let him see him. He wonders how Bill and Ava are doing. She tells him that things are fine. When Billy goes inside, he bumps into his son. They catch up quick and Bill asks about Lizzie. Billy doesn't want to see anyone hurt. Bill wants his father to help him convince the unions that he is labor friendly. His father turns him down. Bill tells his father that he needs him. That's just what Billy wants to hear. After some teasing, he agrees to help him out.

Billy takes his son to the barber for a bit of a make over and introduces him around to the local union leader. Billy talks for his son. When the leader gets a call, Bill tells his father how he is already planning his whole future around his son: Max Harlan Lewis. Billy is thrilled to hear the traditional middle name is being kept alive.

Mel bursts into her brother's room. He called for a lawyer and she asks him why. He told Ava how he felt about her. She's glad that he didn't get himself into trouble and teases him a bit. As she helps him fold his laundry, she wonders what he would really do if Ava left Bill for him. He's glad that he loves Ava; it feels good and he'd gladly be a father. She thinks he's lucky; she's never even been in love. She cared about Rick, mostly because he was dying, but they were never in love. "I have never let myself fall in love," she admits, sadly. "So you're telling me I've done something you've never done?" he asks. She's impressed by what he's done, even if he's failed. She wishes she could fall in love.

Dinah runs into Beth at Towers. She asks her if she is wearing one of the outfits she left at the house. "I buy my own clothes," Dinah says. Beth snipes at her for working with Bill, suggesting that he isn't big on teamwork. Dinah says she is there for a meeting with a journalist that Bill set up. Beth informs her that the journalist she is meeting is only a fashion reporter, and not a very good one. The reporter soon arrives. Dinah does her best to be serious but the reporter only wants to talk about designers and gossip. She spots Lizzie and asks if the rumors about her and Bill are true. Dinah walks away. Meanwhile, across the room, Lizzie joins her mother at her table. She doesn't want to talk about Bill but she begins rambling about him. Dinah stands by and eavesdrops.

Bill finds a man laying in the middle of the parking lot. Rolling him over, he realizes it's Alan. He asks what happened. Alan tells him that Gus was trying to get his attention. Bill helps him up. "It doesn't belong to you Bill. None of it," Alan says. Bill calls Lizzie. She rushes over. Alan tells her that he and Bill have reached an understanding. "I can't even begin to understand," Bill says. Lizzie thinks they both need their heads examined.

Natalia runs into Olivia at Company. She admits that she went to see Alan about Gus and tells her of the women who follow him. "Whatever he's selling, don't buy it," Olivia advises. Besides, she reminds her, Natalia knew Gus better than Alan ever did.

At Cedars, Alan gets checked out and then runs into Olivia in the corridor. She mocks his Gus thing as a scam. He tells her that he gives his groupies hope and reminds her that he is not the same man who was married to her. She gets fed up and asks why Gus doesn't talk to her. She calls him pathetic. "Is it pathetic to love someone that you've lost?" he asks. She tells him to save it for his fan club.

Lizzie and Bill take a walk. She tells him what Alan says about him and suggests that he may be setting himself up for disaster. She tells him to be careful. Alan interrupts and Bill offers to drive them home.

When Alan gets home, a group of women are waiting for him. He tells them that he is a fraud. He was once a CEO who would run over anyone to get ahead but he was only a scared little boy inside. He tells them that his father used to lock him in a closet, but meeting his son Gus let him out of the dark. After losing him, he has learned to reach out to share with other people. Natalia and Olivia listen at a distance.

At Towers, Dinah meets with a realtor looking for a place in the country. He tells her that her brother already bought it. "He bought it for family. Got that!" she bites before walking away. She meets Beth at the bar and tells her to keep Lizzie away from Bill. Beth is sure that Lizzie can take care of herself. "Then she should know that Bill is right where he wants to be," Dinah asserts.

When Dinah gets home, she finds Billy there. He tells her that he and Bill are patching things up and shows her gifts he got for "Max Harlan".

The realtor meets with the gossip writer and offers to sell her some gossip about Bill and Lizzie.

Bill and Lizzie walk through the park. He invites her to his shindig for the governor. She accuses him of trying to use her as a prop to show that Spaulding has been defeated by him. He makes rambling excuses and she waves him off, walking away.
