Harley travels to New York to search for Cyrus. She has a dream about all of the men in her life and finally decides what to do about Cyrus, but it may be too late.

Harley is in New York. She starts to look around but calls home to check on Zach before wandering the streets with a photo of Phillip in her hands. She joins up with her contact in the NYPD. She isn't happy to hear that Harley isn't a real cop anymore but offers to pass the photo around. Harley wanders off and seems to randomly ask people on the street if they've seen Phillip. No one recognizes the picture, but some girls think he looks cute. All the while, she is being followed by a man who keeps out of sight. As she begins having a panic attack, she clings to some scaffolding and collapses on the street. Just as she hits the ground, Cyrus runs to catch her.

Harley wakes up at The Beacon as the phone rings. When she answers, Mallet is on the line. She's bewildered to hear his voice. He tells her to get to the station— they only have another day and then they have to go back to Florida together. Florida? Together? Amid the confusion, Mallet reminds her that they're married. When she gets to the station, he confronts her about the suitcase full of clothes he found hidden under their bed. She says that she's perfectly justified in keeping one foot out the door of their marriage, he cheated on her after all. He says that this isn't fair at all, but she insists that she really did love him. Confused and shaking her head, she runs off.

Arriving at Cedars, she drifts around aimlessly when Dylan suddenly runs out and starts telling her all about Daisy just being born. She stops him— he's gratuitously re-writing history. Daisy wasn't born in a hospital and they weren't excited parents, she reminds him. Suddenly, the conversations jump ahead to the end of their relationship and they start arguing. "Think about what you missed out on because you played it safe," he says. Seeing a shadowy figure in the distance, she runs after him. Confronting the figure on Main Street, she's shocked to find that it's Buzz. They sit down and he begins apologizing for abandoning her and Frank when they were children. She tells him that she's glad she had to grow up early because it made her strong and not prone to false hope. "Sometimes false hope is better than no hope at all," he tells her.

When she rushes over to The Beacon, she runs into Gus and they start to argue about the collapse of their marriage. He tells her that she gave up on their marriage awfully. She refused to share him with anyone, she explains. "I wish I knew in advance how a relationship would work out," she says. If she did, she'd go back to the beginning and do everything different. Gus says that maybe she'll get super powers and can use them on the next man in her life. Maybe she'll just choose to be alone next time. He walks out on her and she starts to scream before running off and running into Blake. She tells her friend that she thinks that she's gone crazy. She's been running from her past and her future all day. Blake knows how she feels; she has dreams about all the men in her life sometimes too and they can be a lot of fun. Harley isn't having fun though, she's just confused and scared. Maybe she should just go and hide in bed? Blake tells her that's no way to live; she needs to take risks.

Back in the world of the awake, Cyrus pulls Harley off the pavement and takes her to the hospital to be checked out. They explain that she's been having panic attacks since the building collapse. "We were in that building together, but we are not together," she insists to the doctor. The doctor shrugs and gives her some pills, explaining that she doesn't seem to feel safe in her life. If she doesn't figure out what's wrong, things will only get worse. They go outside and she takes a pill as they wander around. He tells her that he wants the real story behind what's going on. When he caught her falling, he "knew" and she knows too. "There's another person in this equation," she reminds him, telling him not to say anything else. He tells her that they aren't there by accident. They need to stop talking about this. "I'm scared," she says. "No you're not," he smiles. They kiss and go up to a room, pulling off each other's clothes. Before they can climb into bed, she pushes him away and tells him that they have to stop. He tells her that since kissing her yesterday, his mind has been all over the place. He went from kissing her to making love to Marina. "Ow," she says at this. He loves Marina, but when he's with Harley, it just feels right. Neither of them want to hurt Marina, but there is something real between them and they should jump into it. "I can't," she says again as he kisses her fingers. He knows that she wants it. That's not enough though. "I will decide for us," she says. "You already have," he states sadly. She moves away from him and he hands her the dog tags from around his neck. They have always brought him luck and he wants her to have them. "Weren't you wearing these when the building collapsed on us?" she laughs. "I was lucky that day. You kept me alive," he says. After some awkward moments, he leaves her alone. She sits on the bed and takes another stress pill before slumping over.

Later, a drowsy Harley sits in her car and tries to get it started. She falls asleep and imagines walking into Company and seeing all the men from her dream. They congratulate her on putting on the breaks with Cyrus. Once again she prevented herself from making a difficult choice and becoming an adult. She played it safe once again. She tells them all to stop, but they begin toasting to the "queen of the safety net". She starts to yell. She doesn't want to be rational and safe anymore; she can't walk away from something that could be great just because she's afraid of hurting other people and breaking up her family. That is no way to live. Things are already over between Cyrus and Marina and she isn't helping them by trying to keep them together, she tells herself. "I was an idiot!" she screams. She should never have pushed Cyrus away. Suddenly, Harley wakes up as a cop bangs on her window. Harley gets out and tells her that she isn't going to spend the rest of her life being afraid of someone she hasn't even seen in years. It's time for her to go home. She climbs in the car and it magically starts up. She smiles and drives off.

Back in Springfield, Harley finds Blake and tells her that she was right about opting for love over everything else. Blake can't recall that particular conversation but it sounds about right. Harley turns around and plays with the dog tags before calling Cyrus. She gets his voice mail and doesn't leave a message. Walking over to his room, she knocks and he answers with a surprised look on his face. "I have to talk to you," she begins...but Marina runs out before she can say anything. "We're engaged!" she blurts out, flashing her ring. Immigration called so they figured that they might as well just do it and play it safe. Harley is almost crying but tries to pretend they're tears of joy. Marina asks her to have a drink with them, but she doesn't want to be the third wheel like always. As she walks out, she and Cyrus send broken glances at each other before he closes the door. She's left alone clutching his dog tags.
