Nicole Forester to Exit from Guiding Light.

Wednesday, September 24 2008

Nicole Forester (Soaps.com)
After the past few weeks have been spent exploring the budding relationship between Cyrus and Cassie, some may be surprised to hear that Nicole Forester (Cassie Layne Winslow), the Emmy nominated actress who plays the complicated one time stripper, one time princess, minister's wife, wheeler dealer and grieving mother, will be exiting the show. CBS Soaps in Depth has confirmed that the actress' contract will not be renewed. The departure is reported to be storyline dictated and there is no expectation that the role will be recast. You can expect to see her final episodes air in November.

Forester joined the cast of Guiding Light in November of 2005, taking over the role from Laura Wright. In her time on the series, she's had several controversial plots, particularly her involvement with Josh Lewis but wowed many audience member and critics over the past year and a half with her depiction of the character as she went through a breakdown following the death of her daughter. At this point, the actress already has plans with what to do with her time. She will be marrying Paul Brown in October. The couple are already expecting a child.

Soaps.com is sad to see her go. When we interviewed her a few months ago, she proved to be a generous and thoughtful person. She's added a great deal to the series in her time on it. We wish her all the best!

Sweetcaoline,
I so agree Nicole definitely did not do this role justice. Laura Wright was the best Cassie ever, that's why I followed her to General Hospital! I'm sure Nicole might be a great actress but definitely not in this role. Send her to OLTL or Days or something but no more CBS soaps. Congrats Nicole on the big wedding and baby news!!!

I recently started watching GL. I liked her as an actress, but I thought her character is too off the wall. I wish her well and good luck with her future endeavors.

Nicole is a great actress. I am sad that she is leaving. The show is dull without her and Reva arguing and. I wish she could see Grady and Allen punished for her daughter Tammy's murder.

Well now we know why GL was hinting at a pregnancy s/l for Cassie, and why they didn't follow through with it.

while I don't like what they made the charater turn into, I wish they would recast her and make her into a strong independant woman with much to live for.

I just logged on to soaps.com and saw this and my reaction was, "WOW!" I'd been hearing rumors that a major star was exiting the soap but that it was a male, not a female. So, this one came out of left field. Having said that, I'm glad she's leaving. She did NOT do the character of Cassie justice. I agree with most of you that Laura Wright was and is the only actress who could do the role of Cassie justice.

However, I wish Nicole all the best on her October wedding and the upcoming birth of their child.

I didn't like Nicole's spin on Cassie and I won't miss her. She made her too goody-goody, the sweet preacher's wife. Yeah, right! She's a former STRIPPER people! She certainly didn't lead a preacher's wife's life when she was married to Josh! She slept with Cyrus! She lied and hid the truth a number of times from Josh & Reva and countless others. Laura Wright was a much better Cassie! I really miss her!

I liked her and was starting to warm up to her. I think if they hadn’t thrown her in with Josh right off the bat we would have accepted her better. We hated her because she stole Reva’s man, but she is a good actress. And I loved Laura Wright, those are hard shoes to fill. I wish they had made Cassie’s character happy just for once. I’ve been waiting for years to see things go her way. PLEASE send her off happy.
Congrats on the baby Nicole! Good luck!

With the show being what it is today, i am not suprised. Pretty soon the cast will be down to 6. I don't watch this show anymore, i find it more tolerable in print.
There are no good story lines anymore and most of my favorites are gone.
