This is bad news for all GL fans. I have been watching this show for as long as i can remember. That is the only hour that i really enjoy tv. If cbs thinks their ratings have droped just wait until they take GL off the air they'll not have anyone watching cbs.

WOW! This is indeed, sad news. I started watching Guiding Light when I was in junior high school in the early 70s. I would rush home from the bus stop to catch the show! There is no other soap opera on CBS, NBC or ABC that can match Guiding Light! Far more realistic than other soap operas and that's why I still watch Guiding Light! I sure hope another network or media format will pick up the show.

THERE HAS TO BE ANOTHER STATION TO PUT THIS SHOW ON...IF IT IS TAKEN OFF , I WILL NEVER WATCH ANYTHING ON CBS AGAIN !!!!!

I'm stunned and in shock!! Let's get a petition together, I would be gladly follow the show to another network!!!

I guess it was not an April Fool's Joke! How very sad. I hope the show can be saved on another network that is widely available. So many memories and characters, it is like losing a family friend, one who has been friends with a few generations. I can't imagine any show replacing it will be anything we can't already find on another channel now in some form.

I'm very sad. I have been watching my whole life it seems. Hopefully they'll find a new home. I'd much rather watch "Guiding Light" than some game, talk, or reality(?) show.

Just a little more. I started watching with my mom when I was little and my daughter started watching with me. This is the only soap she cares about. (I'm 55 and she's 36.)
I didn't even mind that they changed the format. It was still the same people which is what really matters. I got used to the format and don't even notice any difference now. I'll have to find something to watch in that time slot and it won't be a game show, a talk show or a reality show. I'd rather watch reruns of a "real" show.

I Agree this is really sad that GL is going to end. I have watched this show for a long, long, long time ....however, IMO - I believe GL caused this demise all by themselves..WHEN they started filming in that crappy home movie style..... Fans got sick of watching an inferior program and ratings continued to decline. After all, how many more times do we really need to see Beth with Alan? plots haven't been too terrific either for awhile. So we will cope.

I cannot believe this. Why are the viewers saying their good-byes and good lucks? Why are we accepting guiding light to be taken off? COme on Guys let's fight for our soaps!!! Every time we turn around our soaps are being threatened! Why are they targeting our soaps. We don't need yet another talk show or More news!!! I say let's keep our soaps on the air and fight for our rights as viewers and hope the station gets the message!!!!!
