My three sisters and my mom have all called in shock of the news that GL has been canceled. This is a sad day I have not been this sad since Elvis died! I say get new writers but dont go off the air. They need to look at old tapes to see how the show use to be and go back to that. Like the good old days when they had the Bauars cook outs. Thats when it was about family. And when the scene's where good they were not out side and in houses that needed finished or ugly hospital's. People like to look at pretty things. I love the show but they have got lazy there will be snow in one scene and not in another on the same day. So yes I'm mad at the people who took over GL and ran it in the ground so I never get to see my favorite characters any more. This all could have been ok it they had just tried harder!!!

Like all of you, I'm still in shock and am completely stunned by CBS' decision. I grew up watching this show (my Mom got me hooked on it but she swears she never watched soaps.....yeah right Ma!).

I have a feeling that we're all going to have a 5 or longer month mourning period. The 5 months prior to the end date and then who knows how long after that. Like some of you have mentioned, I feel like someone very close to me has died, that being the show.

If GL should NOT get picked up by another network (cable) and P&G decides airing it on the net is too expensive, I just hope that the writers and producers along with the cast bang out a wonderful ending to one of the most beloved shows in all of TV history. I for one will have my box of kleenex next to me and I'll be crying all day knowing that September 18 is the last day I'll ever see this show again.

Michael (who is already in the mourning phase).

I was devastated when I read the news about Guiding Light being canceled. I cried. I have been watching Guiding Light for over 20 years now. This soap has always been a favortie of mine and will be heart broken when it goes off the air. I truely wish the cast the best of luck and hope to see any of them on other show's. Would love to see Jonathan come back before the show's last date and bring baby Sara back to her Mother for good. That would be a good ending.

I am so sad...it is like losing a family memeber. Can't we do anything to stop this! I will not support Proctor and Gambles products for doing this.... this is horrible. I have been a fan for over 20 years... what are they thinking.
Perhaps they will reconsider in the months to follow... Good luck Writers, and cast... you will be missed.

CBS is always taking the good shows, why to put another stupid talk show or reality show on. Give me a break, CBS keeps doing this they are going to go under them selves. This is the same stupid decison that they made when they took off Jerico. WAKE UP YOU MOROONS!!!! To bad we could not start a petition to keep our story going....

I seriously hope that you can find a new home for The Guiding Light, I have watched this soap faithfully for many many years, ever since I was little when the soap just about first started. Please, please do not cancel this soap, my Mom still watches it at the age of 98.
Thank you

Guiding Light needs to continue!! This is the only daytime soap that I care about watching/recording when busy. I have read that the female viewing has declined, but I also know alot of male viewing of the show including offshore oil workers that tune in to watch the show daily. I hope that another network picks up the show. I WILL WATCH! This is a mistake for CBS & PROCTOR AND GAMBLE TO REMOVE THIS SHOW. There is nothing that I would watch in that timeslot. This is a tremendous loss to daytime viewing. My 90 year old grandmother looks forward to this show daily, my mother and many other people that I know. I am just curious as to what method is used to determine who is watching. I have always thought that this is and has been the best daytime soap on the air. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

This is so sad I have grown up with this show.I mean every since I was a child I saw my mom and grandmom watching this show then as I grew up and started understand the storyline, I fell in love with gl.This is so sad I only hope that before gl goes off the air the writers close the show properly unlike sunset beach did years ago.

Such sad news!! If the show is being cancelled do to declining viewers and women in the workplace, wouldn't this effect all of the daytime shows and not just The Guiding Light? It will be very SAD to see something go away that has been a part of my life for more than 35 years, even while in the workforce. CBS needs to find a way to keep this show on the air. IF NOT another network which would be wonderful. How can a show bring back Grant/Phillip and cancel? This is just soooo SAD!!! At a time when the country is already in turmoil and now to have something that has been a mainstay cancelled as well. The Guiding Light needs to continue. It would be wonderful if CBS would rethink this decision and continue the show.
