Friday, September 19 2008

Ron Raines (CBS)
Updated: September 19.

There's no sign that Ron Raines (Alan Spaulding) is slowing down his schedule any time soon. He's added even more appearance to his concert schedule in the coming months.

You can catch him performing with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for their "Christmas with the Pops Show" coming up in December. Ron will be appearing with the chorus and select guests as he sings popular holiday songs live to lucky audiences from Thursday, December 3 until Saturday, December 6. For more information on this event, please visit the Orchestra's official website.

If you can't make it to that event, you may be able to catch him in January when he takes to the stage of the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California for "Jerry Herman - Up Close and Personal". That event will take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Jerry Herman, of course, is the famed composer and lyricist of "Hello Dolly," "Mame," and others. Debbie Gravitte and Jason Graae will join Ron for vocals with Don Pippin backing them at the piano. Michael Kerker, head of musical theatre for ASCAP, will be on hand for a chat with Mr. Herman himself about his remarkable career. Be sure to check their official website for tickets and more information.

It's been the summer of Spaulding, well, at least the summer of Ron Raines, who plays the often crazed Alan Spaulding. The busy and versatile actor isn't taking a break from his hectic schedule and has added yet another performance for the delectation of his many fans. He's joined the roster for this year's Chicago Humanities Festival. The epic six week event will run from October 3 to November 16, 2008 and features everything from a reading of Gilgamesh to seminars on city planning.

Mr. Raines will be joining Liz Callaway and Capathia Jenkins on stage in the Thorne Auditorium to sing in The ASCAP Cabaret: The Big Moment – An Evening of Broadway Showstoppers. The popular event will feature famous tunes from Cats, Miss Saigon, Showboat, Chicago and many others.

The performance will be on Monday, November 3rd at 7:00 PM and, at only $15, tickets are sure to sell out quickly. If interested, please visit the festival website or call 1-312-494-9509 for additional information.

Anyone lucky enough to attend one of Ron's wonderful performances is encouraged to come back and tell Soaps.com all about.

Break a leg Ron!
