Something Wrong?

Monday, February 18 2008

Cyrus finds Rick moping around and asks him to give Harley a break. "Stop taking your troubles out on her or I'll take mine out on you," Cyrus threatens, reminding him that he is a seasoned criminal, not just an amateur. Later, he calls Harley and they talk. She feels bad from talking to Cassie and doesn't like being judged. He tells her he'll be right over to see her. When he goes inside his room, however, he's taken aback to find Marina sitting on the couch in lingerie surrounded by candles. She just wanted to remind him of what he can't get anywhere else. When he gets up to light a candle that's gone out, he finds a photo of them which she smashed. She makes an excuse and tells him she'll get another. Meanwhile,. Harley sits alone in bed waiting.

Give Me Your Husband

Friday, February 15 2008

Harley arrives at the church to see Rick and her son. He takes her aside and explains what happened at the baptism and that Beth's baby is Alan's. She's in shock and Rick tells her that her son really needed her today and she wasn't there for him. She apologizes to Jude and he asks her if she was busy with Cyrus. Rick says that he wants Jude to keep him company today and picks him up.

Harley goes to the gym to work out. Cyrus shows up and she tells him that they need to be more careful. He follows her home and she fills him in on what happened at the baptism. She says that her kids can figure things out and will start asking questions after seeing them together. She can't give up seeing him so what will they do? They decide to meet at her place during the day while the kids are at school. She tries to remember where her children are right now, but it's not easy because Cyrus keeps throwing her off. She can't believe she's going to start lying to her kids now. "That's so bad," she says. She can't lose him though. As they start for the bed, Rick walks in. She does her best to cover but Rick seems unconvinced. Cyrus heads out the door and Rick asks her point blank if she is sleeping with Marina's fiancé. Harley insists that they are just close. "I know what I saw," Rick says. Harley tries to explain herself, but Rick starts yelling at her, saying that if she is going to carry on with Cyrus, Jude is staying with him. She tries to calm him and insists that Cyrus is not Alan, who is really the person who Rick is angry at right now. He already has a fight with Alan, he doesn't need to pick one with her too. Rick walks out.

This Insanity Has to Stop!

Thursday, February 14 2008

At the church, Reva stands in front of Jonathan while Alan levels a gun at him. She breaks the truth, pointing to Beth and telling Alan that her baby is really his. Alan assumes she's lying and gets ready to shoot. Josh yells at him to stop. "It's true. Alan, this is your baby," he explains. Cassie clings to the child and the Reverend Ruthledge's jaw drops at the revelation. Alan hands the gun to the clergyman, tells Lizzie that Sarah is at the house and walks towards the baby. He demands that Cassie hand her over, but Rick steps up, warning Alan to stay away. He tells Leah to take the boys outside. Turning to Beth, he tells her the tests don't mean anything. Beth starts freaking out when it becomes clear that Rick has been lying all along. Alan starts to threaten Rick until Cassie speaks up, admitting that she switched the tests and would do it again. She insists that the baby's DNA doesn't change anything. Beth takes the baby away from her. "How dare you!" she snaps before running off. Cassie continues lashing out at Alan. He thinks she needs a good shrink but she thinks he's just plain evil. She continues to rant, calling on everyone to stop Alan from perverting everything in town. Beth gets sick of this and starts screaming at Cassie. "This insanity has to stop!" she demands. Ruthledge tells them that he won't let them demean God's house with anymore of this and they ought to take it outside.

Alan holds the baby and talks of how he always knew she was a part of him. Beth tells him this has to stop. She takes the child back and the two men begin arguing. She refuses to stand there and listen to them bicker; if either of them love her, they'll give her time to decide what to do on her own. She and Lillian leave them behind. They bring the baby home and put her to sleep. Beth cries. She can't get used to calling the baby Bernadette, she admits. Meanwhile, Rick tells Alan that he's "done" with him. Alan points out the irony of this situation. "You have turned into me," Alan smiles after listing all of the crimes and manipulations that Rick has committed. Rick walks away, dejected, while Alan laughs that this realization will keep Rick up all night.

God Bless The Child

Wednesday, February 13 2008

At home, Leah and Harley's boys are making decorations for the baptism. Rick comes in, excited about everything. Lillian runs around, giving Rick a peck before Beth walks in with the baby in her arms. They all crowd around the baby and remark on how she doesn't look anything like Rick. After smirking, Rick walks away to make a call. Lillian takes her daughter aside. Beth worries about why Alan hasn't called her since she left the island. When the phone starts ringing, everyone is still and silent. No one answers. They all think it could be Alan. Rick tells Beth that he understands her feelings for Alan; she can't throw away the history she had with him. He's okay with that though because he knows he'll spend the rest of his life making her and the baby happy. Leah asks them what the baby will be called. Rick wants to name her Bert after his grandmother Bertha. This makes everyone cringe so Leah suggests "Bernadette".

Josh arrives and they tell him the baby's name. When Beth walks away with the baby, Josh tells him he doesn't think he can perform the ceremony. Rick worries that this will send up red flags. "He'll do it," Cassie announces as she walks in. They start talking about how happy Rick and Beth and his family are and how wonderful everything is. Josh repeats that he can't perform the ceremony. Cassie finally points out that he can't perform it anyway; he's supposed to be the Godparent and someone else will be performing the ceremony. Josh is still reluctant to take part.

At the church, Reverend Ruthledge has come to perform the ceremony. As he congratulates everyone, Cassie slips away to apologize to her sister. Reva tells her that if it happens again, "it won't be fine." Cassie is called back to the front with Josh for the ceremony. As the reverend begins, he asks Cassie and Josh to make a vow. Grudgingly, Josh goes along with everything. Alan enters the church and watches from a distance as the baby is baptized. Jonathan and Lizzie arrive and Reva runs over to them. Lizzie explains what's happened and Jonathan slips over to Alan, pointing a gun at his head. Alan easily wrestles it away from him, saying that even if he has to go to jail for shooting him, at least he can protect the baby from him. Alan says that he has nothing– no family, no wife, no baby. To stop him from shooting Jonathan, Reva suddenly blurts out the truth— Beth's baby is really his.

The Innocent One Among Us

Tuesday, February 12 2008

Outside, Alan thanks Jonathan for his help and says it's time for them to have a truce. Jonathan can keep Sarah and they will put the tragedy of Tammy behind them. This way, Jonathan won't have to run anymore and they will have a future. The only thing that counts is to Alan now is Beth's baby. Lizzie walks out, interrupting and telling Alan that Rick is still the father and Beth loves him; so Alan really has nothing. Alan stares inside at Beth. Rick returns and starts yelling at Alan, telling him that Beth has been lying to him since she got there. He walks inside and sits with Beth and the baby. Alan watches as they sit together, kissing and holding the child. Jonathan tells him to stay away from all of them and then taunts Alan when he sees tears in his eyes. He gloats over Alan's suffering. "Why don't you shoot me? It would be an act of kindness," Alan says. The ambulance arrives and takes Beth away. Lizzie announces that she and Jonathan are leaving. Alan asks them to stay; they just shared an important moment. She tells him that whatever it was, it's gone. He's left alone in the house.

Josh agrees to arrange for the jet but makes him promise not to do anything stupid. Jonathan has been eavesdropping on all of this while playing with his gun. "Miracles can happen," he smirks. Later, Josh calls the school he sent Will to. He discovers that Cassie checked him out behind his back.
