Gus arrives at the mansion and announces that he can't eat or sleep and his marriage is almost done. He really needs to see his son. Alan tells him that he has to go but he wishes that he'd been wrong about Harley all this time. After he goes, Gus tells Natalia that what happened between them was a big mistake. Harley thinks that she's already given him too many second chances and she can't get past this. He still wants to fight for his marriage, but Natalia tells him he shouldn't have to fight. The butler asks him where he wants his bags. Gus decides to leave them in the hall. He really can't stay there; it would hurt everyone more. He apologizes for hurting her, but he has to try again with Harley. Natalia tells him that if he can work it out with Harley, he should...but has Harley been fair to him? She is willing to wait for him, however long it takes. She can't move on until she knows for sure that there is no chance for them. They begin kissing.
On Main Street, Alan finds Rafe skateboarding and asks him how it works. He then tells him that today is an anniversary of sorts. After Rafe does some tricks for him, Alan tells him that he is now a Spaulding and part of a family that will never abandon him. When they return to the mansion, they find Gus and Natalia kissing.
At the mansion, Cyrus is on the phone plotting with Griggs. He promises to keep things silent as they search through the jewels. Cyrus admits that he hates to hurt Alex but... he hangs up and ducks away as Gus appears looking for his morning coffee. Natalia comes in wearing his shirt. She doesn't know why he's staying there, in the house of the father he always avoids. He insists that he's only there to spend time with Rafe. He explains that he still wants to work on his marriage; he and Harley just need time and distance. She seems unconvinced and yet disappointed as he abruptly walks away. Cyrus wanders back out, after listening to the whole conversation. 'You could always throw water on your t-shirt. It might work..' he suggests to her. After an embarrassed look, she walks away. Once she's dressed, she finds him again, looking at the coin collection. They begin to taunt each other about their time and motives in the mansion. He tells her that they aren't so different; he may only be there for himself, but she is there for more than the kid's well-being. Handing her a coin, he tells her not to waste a golden opportunity.
Back at the mansion, Natalia looks through the book of coins. She sees that Cyrus has taken some. Hearing someone come in and expecting Cyrus, she says that 'it's time to give it back.' 'That's my line,' Harley says, surprising her. They quickly start lashing out at each other. Harley just wants to see Natalia on a bus out of town. She won't go anywhere though and she doesn't care what Harley thinks; she can't force Gus to choose. 'After you kicked him out of the house, he came straight over hear,' Natalia informs her. She's never been 'the other woman' in all of this, she insists. Rafe walks in, taking a glass of water and falling onto the couch. His mother starts to test his blood sugar and asks him what he's been eating while Harley looks on, suddenly dejected. When she walks out, Gus grabs her in the hallway.
At Towers, Gus is shocked to find Harley on the other side of the door while she pries open the service elevator. Natalia is starting to panic (she was trapped in an elevator that fell down and traumatized her) and almost hyperventilates as Gus and Harley mumble their way through pulling the door open. Eventually, Gus and Natalia climb out and thank Harley for her help. She abruptly gets up to walk away. Gus stops her and asks her where she is going: Has she forgotten that they're married? She can't believe that he would have the nerve to ask her that. He suggests that they go somewhere and talk. She already knows that he's slept with Natalia, he assumes that she's slept with Dylan.
Once they get away and make their way to the dining room, they are confronted by a loud rally for Buzz, seriously cramping their attempt to have an intimate conversation. She explains that she's only back for the rally. He thought she might have come back to save their marriage. After climbing the stairs thank to a broken elevator, Buzz breathlessly begins making a speech to the crowd about how a good and solid family is the most important thing. He points all of his children, including Harley and Gus, out to the media as the sort of people he is running for. Harley smiles and then pulls her father aside: She really can't do this for him right now. He tells her to stand by his side and smile. That's asking a lot, she says, staring over at Natalia. Harley returns to Gus and tells him that this is a big night for her father and they have to find a way to smile through it. The reporters call them in for a family portrait, which they awkwardly stand for. Buzz tells them that they'll be okay and then walks off. The new manager for Towers offers Natalia work for the night. She accepts and gets into uniform.
When Gus tells Harley that he's missed her and tries to touch her face, she jumps back. She missed him too, but she shouldn't have. Natalia comes by in uniform with champagne. Harley grabs a drink and Natalia then walks over to Rafe who has just arrived. She hugs him while Daisy walks across the room and tells her mother that she's actually glad to see her back. Gus spots his son drinking champagne and rushes over to pull the drink away. A reporter starts to ask them questions as Harley follows Natalia out to the balcony. Harley reminds her that Gus is still a married man. Natalia tells her that she was there first and she has his son. 'I thought you didn't run after married men?' Harley bites back. Things have changed, Natalia explains. She pulls out her high school picture of Gus and tells Harley to look at it. 'He's too young to know what he wanted,' Harley says, handing it back. Natalia argues that she has more history with Gus than she does. Harley tells her that he's grown up a lot since then. Natalia isn't disappearing from the scene, she says; Harley has had Gus for the years that she's missed out on and she'll stay around just in case he becomes available. She just wants to see him happy. Harley is sure that he already is and that their marriage was nearly perfect before Natalia showed up. Natalia is unconvinced; even Frank has told her about all of the break ups they've had...maybe Gus would be better off with her after all.
A ragged Gus sits at the breakfast table listening to his messages. When he gets one from Natalia about Rafe, he leaves to meet her at Towers. She tells him that Alan wants to send their son to private school and thought they should talk about it. They agree to no private school. The manager of Towers comes out, interrupting to tell Natalia why he really didn't hire her the last time she applied for a job there. Moments later, she rushes inside and confronts Alan for telling the manager not to hire her. He's impressed that Gus is standing by her side and pointedly asks him where his wife is. Gus tells him that it's not Alan's business to make decisions for Natalia. 'No, it's up to you,' Alan says. He leaves with a smile and pays off the manager in the elevator for playing along with his plan. Meanwhile, Gus thanks Natalia for not going along with Alan's plans. She admits that, while she may not agree with everything Alan does, she basically agrees with him. Maybe Gus' marriage isn't fixable? Remy walks over and begins accusing Gus of messing with her. Gus tells him that Natalia can look after herself. As he and Nat have a drink, Mallet walks in looking for Harley and says that he hopes they can work it out. Gus is awkward and doesn't say much to this. After Mallet leaves, he and Natalia get in the freight elevator which soon gets stuck. They look at each other: 'Alan', they conclude in unison. As they wait, Gus starts to admit that he always thought he would stay with Harley no matter what, but now he's starting to wonder... suddenly, the door is pried open by none other than Harley.
At the mansion, Gus sits with Natalia for a moment before rising to leave. Alan convinces him to stay for dinner and then runs off to try and convince Rafe to turn down his music. Gus takes a drink and Natalia pulls him into a dance after he claims that he's too old. After a quick spin around the floor, Gus becomes uncomfortable and excuses himself. He goes home and she follows after him, bringing home made food with her. Moments later, Frank arrives banging on the door. His father has followed him and tries to calm his angry son down. Gus lets them in. Frank demands to know what is going on; husbands and wives don't split and go off with their separate exes unless something is seriously wrong. Gus says that Harley has led him on a wild goose chase around Chicago and he couldn't find her. Maybe she wants it that way... maybe he does too. Frank starts to lay into him, he's been defending him for years, even when he sided with the Spauldings, but things are going too far now. Natalia comes out, declaring that they can't put all of the blame on Gus like this. As they all start to argue, Buzz tries to calm them. Natalia reminds Frank that she and Gus have a child and will be part of each other's lives. Gus has proven how much he cares about Harley, but she is the one who ran off with Dylan and refuses to be found. Buzz takes her point and ushers Gus aside to tell him so. Frank stands close to the door and confesses to Natalia that he's not sure where Harley belongs now. Later, left alone, Gus and Natalia eat. She tells him that she's tried to be fair; she's given Harley every chance to keep him. Now, she's finished with being fair. Gus belongs to her and she will fight for him.
Alan brings Rafe and Natalia to Towers. He tells Rafe that the staff always like you to call them by name and demand things. Natalia keeps herself from rolling her eyes by going off to visit the manager to check if there has been an opening. She soon returns with a lead on a job near her old apartment. This place seems too rich for her and she offers to take Rafe home and cook for him. Alan sends Rafe off with the limo. Natalia doesn't want this for her son; it's not realistic and she won't pretend that this is her life now. She's sure it could all change tomorrow. She walks out.
