It's Over

Tuesday, September 04 2007

Gus finds Natalia and Rafe at Cedars, they tell him that they are just picking up his medical records. Gus is worried, he thought that Rafe had taken a turn for the worse. He quickly realizes that Alan has been manipulating him again. After he runs off, Rafe points out to his mother how much Gus cares about her. She reminds him that he just ran away to renew his wedding vows. She lived without him for a long time, she can do it again. Rafe doesn't want his father to jerk her around. She shakes her head. Natalia wants him to have a relationship with his father, no matter what.

At CO2, Mel finds Remy and Lola sitting together giggling over coffee. She pulls her little brother aside and asks for an explanation. 'I'm bored, she's hot,' he states. His sister will just have to deal with it. Lola assures her that her brother is being a perfect gentleman. That's just what Mel wants to hear. After she walks away with a smile, Lola tells Remy how much she enjoys working with his sister. She likes to help people; her faith keeps her going. He tries to play it cool and keep his eyes off of her as she plays up the good girl act, adding a few saucy hints here and there. Soon she's whispering her naughty fantasies in his ear. They stroll down Main Street and she breaks it to him that they were set up by his family. He can't believe that he walked right into it. She's happy with it though: She's getting him in the bargain, after all. As they kiss, they quickly make their way to The Beacon but Natalia accidentally catches them making out in the hallway. Embarrassed, he pushes Lola inside her room and tries to explain himself to Natalia. She hopes that he didn't just ruin his date for her. She seems fragile as she explains that she's only coming to realize now how much she has screwed up, falling again for a 'very married man' and trusting Alan when she shouldn't have. They go out to the balcony. She apologizes for the way she treated him. He admits that he shouldn't be involved with her, particularly with all of her baggage, but he still wants her. She tells him that she's wasted enough time on Gus: They aren't kids anymore and she is ready to let go.

I Forgive You Because I Have To

Friday, August 31 2007

At the mansion, Natalia and Rafe unpack. She admits that what Alan did was terrible but they can't turn their backs on their family. Daisy arrives, thrilled to find that he'll be sticking around. 'I'm kinda busy here,' he says, trying to get rid of her. She apologizes for trying to come between he and his mother; she just wanted him to stay and was jealous of how close they are.

Alan asks Ava for some advice about the Coopers. She just wants to talk about work. He doesn't care; he needs to get his son away from Harley. Later, he returns to the mansion and announces that Gus and Harley are planning to renew their vows. Daisy is happy to hear it. Annoyed, Alan sends her away and then tells his remaining guests that he wants to take them away from all of this. He's set it up for Rafe to meet with a diabetes specialist. Rafe's eager to go and leaves to get ready. Natalia tells Alan that she doesn't want him messing with Harley and Gus. Later, Alan calls his doctor friend to tell them that he needs it to sound like Rafe is very sick. Daisy has returned and walks in as he sets this plot in motion. Realizing that he will use this to pull Gus away from his commitment ceremony, she runs out, pushing the butler out of the way to warn her mother. Alan instantly calls the police to report an 'assault'.

Stop Making Excuses

Thursday, August 30 2007

At the mansion, Alan apologizes to Natalia for the little drama that happened with Harley the other day. He's startled when she and Rafe inform him that they are moving back to Chicago. 'Us living in this house isn't working for anyone,' she insists. Alan won't let his grandson go. He always wants what's best for his family, even if he makes the wrong choices sometimes. Rafe is angry though; Alan barely even knows his real name...why didn't he listen to what everyone told him? he wonders. 'I didn't mean to call you Phillip,' Alan pleads but Rafe turns his back and walks out. When they leave, Alan begins drinking and calling around to bring someone yachting with him but no one is interested. Even the servants seems to have vanished. Natalia reappears to give his keys back. He's disappointed that she's letting Harley drive her out of town. How can all of his sons have been so blind? She insists that it's him that's driving her away. In a drunken fury, he runs out.

Daisy packs up Harley an Gus and tries to push them out the door for a trip together. Harley seems reluctant but Gus says that they need to do this: They can't let Alan win. Soon, they are at a cabin in the country. Gus tells her that she and Natalia are not in a contest for him. There is no contest as far as he's concerned; he promises never to see Natalia again. He doesn't want her around Dylan though. She insists that there is nothing between them but offers to stay away from him as much as possible. He thanks her and kisses her. After they make love on the floor, she tells him that it will never be the same...now that there are new people in play. Recollecting a story, she tells him that the foundation of this cabin was cracked because of all the rain and the building was almost lost. It was good though, because it let them see where the flaws were. It's too easy to blame things on Alan, she admits. The problems run deeper than him. What happened might have happened anyway, she suggests. He tells her to forget all that and stop with the housing metaphors; Dylan and Natalia will disappear from their lives and they'll still be together. This doesn't impress her: Their marriage needs to be strong on its own, not just when other people aren't around. She starts packing up; she knows that Rafe and Natalia are part of his life and he really can't do anything about it.

Outside, Natalia finds Alan looming at the window. She stops him before he can do anything. She tells him that he has to stop blaming Harley for everything. Rafe needs a grandfather and he needs to see that there is some good in him. Alan is crushed. He slumps down, depressed because he feels like he's lost everything. She's sure that he can change. 'I'll stay,' she offers, as long as it stops him from going after Gus and Harley. She takes him back to the mansion to sober him up. He thanks her: It takes a special person to see the good in him.

Phillip wait! Don't go!

Monday, August 27 2007

At the mansion, Gus breaks out of a kiss with Natalia. He may have moved out of Harley's house but he's not finished with her. Everything is too complicated and confusing for him right now. Feeling off, he looks into Alan's desk and finds a pair of pill bottles. It startles him, reminding him of his time as a drug addict. As he puts them away, Natalia suggests that he take Rafe to a baseball game or something. He's too distracted to do it today.

Harley goes over to the mansion and tells Natalia that she wants to have a drink and a talk. Natalia doesn't understand why she's there. Harley explains that she was drugged and starts making accusations. Natalia insists that she did not drug her and asks Harley if she is okay. Harley starts to doubt that it was her. Natalia reminds her that she's always been straight with her and stayed away from getting involved; she never even told Gus that Rafe was his son, Harley did that. Alan and Gus walk in. She starts accusing Alan of drugging her so that he could control their lives. He says that he would never do anything so ridiculous but when Harley says she was likely drugged with Valium, Gus remembers the pills he found and takes them out. That doesn't add up to proof, Alan insists. Gus remembers the strange phone call he got of Dylan and Harley together and realizes that it was part of Alan's plans. He admits that he's been trying to save his son from Harley for years. The marriage was already dying; all he did was give it a nudge. Natalia can't believe that he would actually drug someone. Gus is upset; this was their chance to actually work things out as a family and he ruined it. Alan insists that he was making things better, suddenly Olivia calls. After telling her how much he enjoyed spending time with Emma, he puts her on speaker and she tells him that she's made a mistake and she doesn't want him near her daughter anymore. Rafe arrives and Alan tries to send him out. Natalia tells him that his grandfather did something awful. When Rafe turns to walk out, Alan blurts out: 'Phillip wait! Don't go!' Rafe is bewildered and walks away. Alan turns to Gus and begs him to understand but Gus takes Harley's hand and walks out. Alone, Alan asks Natalia to try and explain things to Rafe. She's too disgusted and yells at him to stay out of her life and her son's.

How About Natalia?

Friday, August 24 2007

At the mansion, Alan isn't thrilled to hear from Natalia that Gus isn't around. When Rafe walks in looking for his father, Alan tells him that whether Gus comes back or not is entirely up to his mother. Changing the subject, she goes over her son's reading list and they start making plans for his education. Alan hands his grandson money to go and buy the books so that he doesn't have to get them from the library. Rafe bounds off and Natalia tells Alan that he is being shameless. He tells her that she needs to stand up to Harley: She has more right to Gus than Harley could ever have. All that she has to do is hold Gus and Rafe close; Harley will soon shove him out as she always does. Natalia wants to let Harley and Gus have a chance to work it out. If they can, she won't intervene: She refuses to be that kind of woman. Later, Alan begins telling her that he admires her industriousness. She won't be industrious about breaking up a marriage, she asserts. He tells her that losing someone is terrible and, if you have the opportunity to get them back, you have to seize it.
