Rafe arrives at The Beacon with a lunch for his mother. She wonders what he really wants. Gus suddenly appears with a lunch for her. She takes the meals, but tells Rafe that he still can't see Daisy and informs Gus that she is no longer seeing Remy. Gus hands his son a package from Alan. It contains a note from Alan offering him a trip to Spain as a graduation present. Rafe is happy, but his parents say they'll have to talk about this. Gus assumes that Alan is only trying to buy the boy's love. As a gesture, Rafe offers to reject the offer. Natalia leaves the men to sort it out on their own. Gus doesn't want to see his son throw this opportunity away just to be around to look out for his mother. She might need him, but she has other men in her life that can look out for her. 'You're seventeen years old... the only person you've gotta take care of is you,' Gus advises. Later, as Gus hangs around waiting on the balcony, Natalia comes out for her lunch break. He starts to probe about her breakup with Remy. They quickly start arguing heatedly. She just wants to get over him and can't take anymore of these mixed signals he sends. He grabs her and starts to kiss her passionately. She breaks away and walks off, just as Rafe returns. He accuses his father of using his mother. Gus insists that he wouldn't do that and he won't drop her for Harley.
Reva arrives at Cedars and finds Dylan badgering a nurse for the reason why Daisy's name was on an appointment sheet. Taking him aside, Reva breaks the news to him. He's floored by the news, especially when his daughter was getting her life back on track. Reva tells him that they need to be supportive. She has choices and she can't handle having a baby now, he insists. All the while, Daisy has gone over to The Beacon to talk to Natalia about her problem. Meanwhile, Cassie returns to Josh. She tells him that there is a void in her and she needs to fill it by having a child with him. She knows how he feels about it, but that doesn't make how she feels wrong. She begs him to think about it.
At Company, Natalia shows Gus an article about Rafe's charity work in the paper. He's impressed that she got him to wear a tie for the photo. Alan walks in to tell her that Remy is outside. He finds the article about Rafe and can't hide how proud he is. Gus is just worried that Natalia is running off with Remy. His father reminds him that she's a grown woman and can do what she wants. Alan tells Natalia that Gus is just being protective of her because he's lost Harley. After raising his grandson so well, she needs to have some fun in her life. She leaves and Gus accuses his father of plotting to seduce Natalia. 'Are you establishing your territory with her?' Alan asks, warning Gus that Remy is the least of his problems: Now, Gus has to fight Alan too.
Natalia and Remy go out on the town. As they kiss on Main Street, Remy's bookie appears and begins threatening him for all the money he owes. Natalia offers her antique watch (it belonged to her mother) to help pay the debt. Remy tells her no and they start to argue until the bookie is about to draw his knife. Before he can, Gus runs up to rescue them, grabbing the knife, wrenching the man's arm and telling the guy to get lost. Remy tells Gus that he could have handled it and that he should stop with his obsession with Natalia: It's only hurting her. Gus reminds her that he only ever left her to protect her; Remy need to walk away; all he does is put her in danger. She refuses to leave Remy. When Gus is gone, Remy admits that Gus is right: If she stays with him, she will get hurt. She can't believe that he's dumping her after months of chasing her. Meanwhile, Alan goes over to Cedars and finds the bookie. It turns out that Alan paid him off for his little show with Remy. He hopes that this will make Natalia convinced that Remy is a loser. The bookie is sure it worked, but Gus is another matter. 'I'll take care of him,' Alan smiles.
Alan finds Natalia working as a maid at The Beacon. He doesn't want to see her doing this; she raised his grandson so now she can relax. He admires her pride, but wishes she'd just let him take her out to dinner. She brings up the kiss they shared, she told Gus it was nothing; now she needs to hear it from him. He explains that he was just having a hard day but she was there for him. That's what she thought; he doesn't have to be afraid of showing emotion if front of her, she says. He tells her that his relationship with his sister is very complicated, but it means a great deal to him. He just wishes that his son would see that Natalia is a much better woman than Harley, but Gus seems terminally smitten with the blond Cooper. Alan hopes that he and Natalia can still be friends. 'Maybe we can watch Oprah some time,' she jokes. 'If you won't tell anybody,' he smiles. He continues hanging around as she works, helping her out. She's impressed by all his fundraising but it seems like his cancer work with Reva isn't going well; he smokes an awful lot when Reva is around. Dealing with her is 'dicey' he admits, especially since Josh took up with Cassie. He's worried that she might do something destructive. 'Gee Alan, I really appreciate your concern,' Reva says, suddenly appearing and breaking into the conversation. She's there to visit Dylan, but she takes the opportunity to say that they are making a mistake keeping Rafe and Daisy apart. Natalia walks away and Reva grabs Alan's tie. She accuses him of trying to set her up to take the fall for the murder.
Alan takes Reva outside and reminds her that they have to work together until everything blows over. They go into Company and continue bickering. She doesn't know how his children could have standed living with him. She shouts out that they killed someone, but, since they laugh afterwards, everyone assumes it's a joke. 'You're a time bomb,' he says. 'Don't tick me off,' she smiles, threateningly. Meanwhile, Gus and Natalia meet on Main Street. He tells her that he had breakfast with Rafe and, since the kid has been so good, he decided to let him see Daisy. Natalia is outraged and demands that they go to the school and see the kids now. He reminds her that they can't split them up. Can't she recall when they snuck off together? When it's forbidden, you want it twice as much. They can't handle it that way; they need to give them a little space. He asks her if she want to spend the night doing homework with him and Rafe, '... unless, of course, you have a date with my father?' She's not impressed by his attitude, but he reminds her of how dangerous Alan is. She doesn't need any warnings.
Rafe walks his nervous mother to her job interview. He suggests that going for another waitressing job is dumb when they live in a mansion. She doesn't want to take charity and tells him that the grocery store is hiring and she wants him to apply. He suspects she just wants him bagging groceries to keep him away from Daisy. She tells him to check his blood sugar. He sits down and does it, insisting that he and Daisy are responsible and can look after themselves. Suddenly, Naomi from the diabetes foundation appears and asks Rafe if he'd like to travel with her, speaking at schools and being role model to other kids with the disease. He's cute and Puerto Rican, that's what kids want to see. She hands him her card and asks him to go to Cedars with her and visit a kid that was just diagnosed. He agrees to do it. 'Make me proud,' Natalia says as they go off.
In Company, Remy is depressed watching the news footage of Marina's kidnapping. It feels like Tammy all over again. His sister tries to get him to cheer up. Lola walks in and Remy wants to hide. He tells his sister that Lola is a psycho stalker who sends him her panties. Mel finds that hard to believe and calls her brother a freak. Lola skips over, acting nice and asking them to lunch with her. He tries to run, reminding his sister that he is seeing Natalia. Lola runs after him, grabbing his hand and quietly making some lewd suggestions until Natalia runs in. Angrily, she tells her that Remy is hers and they even went ring shopping. She douses Lola with some water and strides off. Remy is speechless but goes after her. Later, as she applies for a job, Remy interrupts the interview to say that she can't work nights. He admits that he wants her available at night for him and thanks her for what she did to Lola. She just wants to find the manager and apply, but he pulls her into a dance. She wants to get home. 'To Gus?' he asks. She tells him about her recent problems with Gus over Alan's kiss. Remy is angry but she downplays the whole thing.
At Cedars, Natalia demands a straight answer from Gus. She's always worn her heart on her sleeve for him; he owes her his honesty. He taunts her for kissing Alan and suggests she may want more from him. She doesn't want to listen to his cheap shots: She wants an answer and she won't be his second choice. Later, she applies to the administrator to see if they have any part time work available. Rick comes out and she asks him if she could take him as a reference. He's happy to do it and starts to tell her that Rafe is eligible for an experimental new procedure to treat his diabetes. She thanks him for the chance and gives him a hug. He asks her how things are going with Gus. She doesn't answer.
Daisy sneaks Rafe into her father's room (since Dylan's away on business). She starts to sniff around the room, slightly nauseated by an odd smell, but he doesn't know what she seems to be smelling. They kiss and he reminds her that they should be studying. Later, she asks him what the date is and is confused when he tells her it's October the first. Soon, Natalia walks in. They're shocked she found them, but she tells them that Dylan paid off the doorman to tip her off if they snuck into the room. She tells her son about the possibility of a new treatment. He doesn't want it. He becomes nervous and starts to mumble as he puts his books in his bag. Daisy comes out of the bathroom and he tells her he'll see her later. As he ducks out, Natalia stops Daisy for a little talk. She reminds her that this is a serious time for both of them and school should take priority. They have the chance to be anything and they shouldn't gamble on their future. Later, Daisy goes down to Cedars. She bumps into Rick and tells him that she is just there to see a friend. When he walks off, she asks a nurse how far along you have to be to get a pregnancy test.
