Gus and Natalia are having lunch at Towers. He tells her about his plan to buy her a Christmas tree and asks her if they really won't be waking up together on Christmas morning. She reminds him that they are waiting until they are married...but she does want to set a date. It will be very soon though: She doesn't want to spend any more nights kissing him and then having to stop. After they leave, they go over to check on ballroom availability with Olivia. When Nat slips into the washroom, he tells Olivia that he wishes that she'd let him help her more. After sending her ahead, he makes an excuse to Natalia and tries to secretly slip away with Olivia. As Nat leaves the room, she spots them vanishing through the doorway. When she gets outside, she runs into Alan. She tells him that she's trying not to overreact to something she just saw. She asks him about Olivia; she got an 'odd' feeling from her today. Alan tells her that she can trust Gus but....he's the only Spaulding male that Olivia hasn't sunk her fingers into yet. Meanwhile, at Cedars, Olivia is upset about dying, but more upset about the prospect of Bill getting custody. Gus reminds her that he went to law school and can sort this out for her. When her doctor appears, he tells her that her test results aren't as good as he had hoped and her placement on the donor list isn't high. Gus tells him that he is Alan Spaulding's son and they bankroll this hospital so if there is a list for heart transplants, Olivia's name better be moved up to the top. Later, Gus runs into Alan on the street. Gus flatly tells him that he knows that he thought he had a chance with Natalia but he doesn't anymore. 'You lose,' Gus insists. Alan isn't so sure. Meanwhile, as Olivia returns home, Natalia is waiting in the hall with a few words for her.
Daisy arrives at the mansion looking for Rafe. She finds Natalia instead. Daisy tells her how worried she is about Rafe; they are the only people who can reach him now... She reminds Natalia of all the good she's been doing in her life and how much Rafe needs her to keep him on the right track. Natalia tells her that Rafe needs to work things out for himself, like he always has. Daisy reminds her of all the trouble he's gotten into in the past. The abortion comes up again. Becoming defensive, Daisy asks her if she has a cross she wants to press on her forehead to see if it sizzles. She knows that Natalia believes that she is evil, but she's not. After she leaves, Alan walks in on Natalia who tells him that Daisy is doing really well, just like the pregnancy never happened...but Rafe is alone in his room crying. Alan starts lashing out at Daisy, who he claims is a 'mutt' comprised of the worst elements of the Lewis and Cooper families. He also tells her that Gus doesn't know what he wants. When he leaves to take a call, Rafe walks in and instantly asks his mother to move away. He doesn't want her to marry Gus now: He abandoned them once and will again. Natalia insists that isn't the case; he can't keep changing his mind like this. He needs to stop his mood swings; she won't get hurt this time. 'You're wrong,' he says, walking out.
Rafe goes down to CO2. Daisy sneaks up on him and they smile at each other. She sits down and they tease each other. She misses when they were in juvie and they could really talk to each other. Meanwhile, Gus has returned to the mansion. He hugs Natalia and starts kissing her, asking her to go to Vegas with him and get married. She asks him if he's done something bad. 'Working on it,' he says. They exchange 'I love yous' and kiss some more but she breaks away to answer the phone. She tells Gus that she's been called into work and has to go. When she leaves to get dressed, he calls Olivia to check on her. 'I'm amazingly calm,' she says. That sounds good to him. After a little chat, they hang up. Alan comes to her door. He demands to know how things are going with Gus. Why hasn't she seduced him yet. 'When you turn it on, Natalia doesn't stand a chance,' Alan says, knowingly. She assures him that it's not going to be a problem; Gus is a great guy and everything will be fine.
Olivia has collapsed on the floor when a shadow comes over her. She wakes and finds someone staring down at her. 'Phillip!' she calls out at their blurry face. It isn't him though— it's just Natalia. She helps Olivia up. She has a terrible headache and starts searching around for Emma. She freaks out before Natalia finds a note saying that Emma has gone to the library with Ava. Natalia tells her that she needs to go to the hospital. Olivia wants to check on Emma, but Natalia sends her over to Cedars. Rick examines her. She has a bump on her head and a slight injury to her neck. He can understand why she is so worried about Phillip— he kidnapped his kids once too— but he's more worried about her suddenly collapsing. She keeps anxiously talking about Emma so Rick promises her that if Phillip tries to take her, he will have to go through him first. When he leaves to run some tests, she impatiently paces around, making calls. Eventually, she runs into Beth in the hallway. Olivia instantly accuses her of helping Phillip to attack her. Beth is baffled but insists that she had nothing to do with this. Beth tells her that Phillip sent her child a present as well, but she hasn't told Rick about it. Olivia becomes even more worried but Beth tries to suggest that Phillip might have changed. 'You're a lot smarter than that!' Olivia says, unbelieving. When she launches into another set of accusations, Beth storms off.
At the mansion, Gus and Natalia are looking around for Alan to pop up. Gus is afraid that his father will have an aneurysm when he finds out the news. Alan strolls in and asks what news that is. 'Should I start calling you "dad"?' Natalia asks. Alan throws his arms up and congratulates them, hugging Natalia and welcoming her into the family with a kiss. That's a little too forward for everyone. Gus doesn't remember his father welcoming Harley like that. 'I didn't want her in the family,' he reminds him, but he does want Rafe and Natalia to be Spauldings. Gus tells his father that Natalia and Rafe will be taking the Aitoro name and moving out. He leaves for work and Alan compliments Natalia: She must be a very strong woman if she's going to let Gus spend every day working with his ex-wife. Later, Alan offers to take her to work, although he doesn't understand why she works. She likes to work. He lays into Gus again and she stops him; she knows that this isn't about Gus, it's about him and his feelings for her. She hopes that he can accept that Gus is her past and her future too.
Olivia arrives at Towers were she finds Gus sitting at the bar. He tells her that he just had to tell Harley about his engagement. They start talking about how they only ever planned to get married once. She starts talking about how worried she is about Phillip and then congratulates him on his engagement, which genuinely seems to touch him. Later, Gus grabs Natalia and takes her out to the balcony. He giddily tells her that he got his first congratulations on their engagement. He wants to take her out: They haven't had a date in twenty years. As he rambles and starts recalling their first date, Olivia stands in the hall listening and smiling. Gus and Natalia begin kissing until she reminds him that she has to get back to work. Meanwhile, Olivia goes through her messages, erasing them. When she walks into her room, she collapses on the floor.
At the mansion, Natalia helps Gus put his jacket on. He feels bad about leaving her to wait tables while he's having dinner. She's not bothered; she knows this will be his last dinner with Harley. Rafe walks through, avoiding his father. Gus wonders what he should be thankful for. She heads over to work at Towers. When a dinner guest starts to be rude to her as she serves, Alan pops in, telling the man to get some manners. He drops some cash on the table and tells him to get lost so that he can talk to Natalia. Alan doesn't want to spend the holiday all alone. He sits down at the table and Rafe soon comes to serve him. He talks him up and then Rafe goes over to the manager and tells him off for over-working Natalia. The manager fires him and then calls Natalia out to tell her this isn't working. Alan walks up and tells the manager off, forcing him to kowtow and allow her off her shift. She joins him for dinner.
Cyrus arrives and everyone is seated around the table. They join hands so that Buzz can say grace. Suddenly, a bread roll flies through the room. Gus goes out to investigate and finds Rafe standing outside with a bottle. He's drunk and starts to call Daisy his 'sweet flower' and sarcastically tells her that he wants to spend the day with her family. Gus holds onto Rafe as he takes a swing at the collective Cooper clan while they rush out at the commotion. Gus tells them that he will take care of this. He takes his son home to sober up and admits that their family isn't always a real family but he hasn't given up on them: He still has hope for what they can be. Natalia walks in, overhearing this, and asks Gus if the proposal is still on the table. It is. 'Then the answer is yes,' she smiles. He takes out the ring and asks her again. She asks Rafe if they have his blessing. Once he gives it she says 'yes' again. As Gus slips the ring on her finger, Rafe starts to smile.
Rafe meets Alan for dinner at Towers. Alan lets his grandson know that he is on his side. He tells him that he doesn't like the way that Gus is treating him. Rafe tries making some excuses for him. Alan tells him that they will be spending Thanksgiving together. But who knows which family Gus will be spending the holidays with? Meanwhile, Gus tracks Natalia down while she works at The Beacon. He interrupts her bed making to give her a cinnamon roll. 'I will wait as long as you need me to,' he says, taking her hand and telling her that he wants to spend Thanksgiving with her and Rafe. She tells him that he'll have to find him first. Later, Rafe tracks his mother down. She asks him to spend the holiday with her and Gus. He's surprised Gus isn't spending it with Harley. Later, when she's back at the mansion, Gus runs in and tells her that Harley invited him over to hers for the holiday, and not just him, but all of them. Natalia thinks that's a bad idea, but he should go and see the boys and not worry about her and Rafe. He thinks they should do both. Rafe overhears this and finally steps in, launching into a sarcastic attack on his father. Gus asks to talk to his son alone. Natalia leaves and Gus tries to explain himself. Harley's sons are like sons to him and he can't just leave them. Rafe says that they'll get over it, he did. Zach and Jude already have dads, but he and Nat only have Gus 'and most of the time, we don't even have that.' After his son storms away, Gus sits on the desk and stares at the ring again. Marina walks in. He tells her that he proposed to Natalia. Meanwhile, Natalia tells Rafe that she's been offered extra work for the holiday. If they work together, they can make more money and use it to buy Christmas gifts. He agrees and she hugs him close.
On Main Street, Daisy catches Rafe skipping out on school again. He tells her that she did the biggest favor anyone's ever done for him by getting the abortion. When she tries to talk to him, he walks away. Meanwhile, at the mansion, Gus finds an e-mail note from the boys saying how much they miss him. He calls and leaves a message for them, promising that they will spend time together soon. Natalia walks in and he gets off the phone. 'You miss those boys...and their mother?' she asks. He does. She's glad that he can be honest about that. Harley will always mean a lot to him, he admits...but so does Natalia. 'At one point I was everything to you,' she remembers. She won't settle for anything other than that; she wants him to want her the way he used to. He tells her that he's filed for a divorce. It's not that easy, she insists; Harley is still a part of his heart and it will take time for him to move on. Daisy walks in, interrupting and Natalia walks away. Daisy tells Gus that she's worried about Rafe. 'I think Natalia is the problem,' she explains to him. He tries calling his son but without luck. He tells her that this isn't all Natalia's fault. 'Her faith is costing Rafe his faith in everything,' Daisy says. Later, Rafe returns and Gus catches him, grounding him for cutting school. 'What are you gonna do? Lock me up in my room?' Rafe asks angrily. Gus will if he has to. Rafe mopes off.
