Nobody's pet.

Tuesday, September 30 2008

Beth walks out and talks to Alex. "This is the best it's been in months," Alex says, sure that things are getting better for her brother. She even brought a photo album to show him. Rick advises her not to show him any pictures of Gus. They go in to visit. Alex hands him the album. He seems touched to see Lizzie, one of the only members of his family who didn't want him to die, he jokes. They talk about how much he loves Lizzie and how much she needs him. Later, Alan asks her if he was really 'that absent' before he had the surgery. She tells him that he had lost faith in his own judgment and became reliant on 'other things'. He thinks he should learn to rely on Lizzie now and asks her to get her.

The Go-to Guy.

At Cedars, Alan stares at Lizzie and Bill. Beth and Alex file in. Lizzie shows them the note that Alan wrote reading, "Who are you?" They assume he's joking. Bill suggests this could be a blessing in disguise. Alex and Beth badger Alan. Bill chews his fingernails and asks Rick about the possibility of brain damage before walking into the hall and calling Decker for a meeting.

Back at Cedars, Alex tries to get through to her brother by handing him a Cuban cigar. Lizzie shows him an article about her and Decker working together. She tells him everything he taught her about business and fighting. The women tell him how much they love him. He continues to stare and say nothing. Rick asks them all to leave him alone for awhile. Lizzie walks into the hall and calls Decker, suggesting that Bill may be sticking his head in, trying to close the deal. She offers to make him a deal right now. Decker is still sitting with Bill and tells him he has another bidder. Unknowingly, Lizzie and Bill compete bidding until Bill ends up offering 8 percent more than the initial deal.

Beth returns to see Alan with Peyton. She puts the baby on his lap and reminds him that she is his hope for the future. Later, he sleeps and Beth returns after bringing the baby to the nursery. Alex arrives and Beth cries, worrying that Alan may never come back to them. Suddenly, Alan opens his mouth and says 'Elizabeth'. Beth runs out and gets her daughter. They bring in Rick and Alan begins to speak again. They're all thrilled. As they file out so he can rest, Alan asks Bill to stay behind for a minute. "I just want you to know that your free ride is over," Alan threatens.

Old man! Wake up!

Monday, September 22 2008

At Cedars, Bill bumps into Lizzie and tells her that Alan's machines have started going off. "What did you do to him?" she asks before rushing in to see Alan. Rick and a nurse hurry in and Bill explains what happened. Rick starts ordering new vitals so he can figure out what's going on. Lizzie knows Alan won't be pleased to know he's there. He doesn't have much choice though. Rick orders Bill to take Lizzie out. In the corridor, they find Beth and Alexandra. Bill explains that they aren't sure what's happening. Alex is sure that any brain activity must be good. Lizzie worries that Alan's brain may be shutting down and cries into her mother's shoulder.

They wait in the corridor. Alex asks Beth if Lillian should bring all of the children there... just in case. Beth says it's still too early. They put on a brave face. Meanwhile, Lizzie apologizes to Bill for saying that this is his fault. He admits that he was venting at Alan. Rick comes out and announces that Alan is not in crisis; he's fighting to wake up and should soon be ready. Lizzie smiles. Bill seems uncomfortable. Alex worries about letting Rick look after Alan. He says that Alan is now breathing on his own. Alex runs in to see her brother. She promises him that she is on top of things and tells him that everyone is there for him. She's proud of Lizzie and everything that she's accomplished, but she still needs his guidance, especially regarding Bill. "We really need you. The whole family needs you," she says, offering to slap him silly if it will help. "I don't know what I would do without you," she admits. Outside, Rick tells the family that the specialist is on the way and they have to keep their eyes on Alan.

Back at Cedars, Rick walks into Alan's room. "Old man! Wake up!" he yells, explaining that Alan needs people yelling to wake him up. Everyone begins yelling things until his foot twitches. They keep yelling until his fingers move. When his eyes open, he can't speak. Rick takes Beth and Alex into the hall. He tells them that something is wrong but the surgeons will be there soon to deal with this. Alex snipes at him and walks off. Beth asks Rick how bad it is. He doesn't know. She thanks him for being there. Meanwhile, Lizzie tells Bill he doesn't need to be there. He's not leaving. Alan stares at them. As she talks to him, he raises his hand and makes a writing gesture. She hands him a paper and a pen. He writes: "Who are you?"

This is all Your Fault.

At the mansion, Bill is on the phone complaining about his physiotherapist being late. Alex and Lizzie walk in and find him sprawled on the couch. Lizzie hands him a cane and asks him if he wants Roxie to look after him. Alex explains that she is the new consultant on the Galaxy project. She holds back her tears when she talks about Alan still being in a coma. "If he doesn't have nine lives, he'll steal a couple," Bill jokes. After she walks out, Lizzie tells Bill that he really needs some physio. She orders him to roll onto his stomach and begins slapping his injured leg, telling him he should get his new girlfriend to do this. He confesses that she is his therapist. She asks him if that's true. "If I say 'yes', what do I get?" he asks. She smiles. As they kiss, Shawn Caldwell interrupts. "They didn't tell me you'd be so... early," she says to the handsome young man. He's there to be interviewed for the position of her personal assistant. They sit across the room and she sizes him up. She's impressed that he does doggie-shiatsu. "The only danger in hiring someone like you is getting slapped with a sexual harassment charge," she jokes. Bill's had enough and walks out. Lizzie tells Shawn that he's over-qualified for the job and sends him to the marketing department. He flirts with Alex as he walks out. Alex warns Lizzie that she is playing a dangerous game. "I thought I played that very well," she says.

Lizzie and Alex go out to Towers. Alex doesn't hide the fact that she doesn't want Bill around. Lizzie insists that she knows what she's doing. That sounds like something Alan would say, Alex suggests. All of these little games seem to be getting in the way of her real objectives. Later, Alex calls and checks on her brother. He's not getting better. "I hope he's with Gus," Lizzie says. Alex just hopes that he's not in Hell... she just can't imagine Alan with wings. Lizzie is sure that he will come back. "Awake or in a coma, he's always driven me nuts," Alex admits, but she still wants her brother back. Lizzie says that she will still pursue Bill. Alex shrugs; she can't say anything. The family has failed at love for generations so what can she say... though she can't imagine this working out.

There's no Money in Revenge.
