Josh's Trial

Friday, March 23 2007

Alan-Michael is shocked to see Alan sitting in his wheelchair at the door. The butler comes out and wheels him in as Reva sneaks in behind them. Alan-Michael rushes to his father, startled to see that he is still in a coma. Meanwhile, Reva sneaks upstairs and begins rifling through the office for the gun. As she talks to herself about what a glutton for self-sacrifice Josh is, Alan-Michael walks in and tells her that what she just did was sick. She says that he should thank her for taking him home so that he can wake up around family.

Getting a call, Harley arrives in Alan-Michael's office where he accuses Reva of kidnapping Alan and breaking in. Surprised by the news, she asks to talk to Reva in the hall. Reva begins rambling when Alan-Michael interrupts them, dismayed that she hasn't arrested her. Harley suggests that they search the room together thoroughly to make sure that nothing was taken. She begins searching, but he tells her that she has no permission. Harley tells him that she has someone else's permission and asks him where the gun is. He leaves to call his lawyer while the women search around. Reva rushes off to the trial and Harley finds the book as Alan-Michael returns. The gun is not there. It looks like the perfect place for a gun to her, but he only answers with some smug remarks. He is only trying to honor his father, he claims. 'By turning into him?' Harley says as she walks away, promising him that this isn't over. After she's gone, he calls to Lizzie as she walks down the hall. He asks her if she told Reva that she saw a gun. Lizzie asks him what would be so wrong about getting the right person punished. He tells her that maybe they are. She has to forget what she saw and remember who she is; the gun will never be found.

Feeling Guilty

Thursday, March 22 2007

Beth strides into Alan-Michael's office. He's checking to make sure that no one has taken the gun. Beyond that, they have to wait and see if the trial goes their way. 'Faking a pregnancy must take a lot out of you,' he says as Beth runs her hand across his chest. Lizzie glares in through a crack in the doorway to spot the gun sitting in plain view. He tells Beth that if Josh has to take the fall to protect the family, that's fine. Is she having second thoughts about this strategy? he wonders. Beth only has second thoughts about him. Veering away from the doorway, Lizzie runs into Ava in the hall and tries to stop her from going in. Ava opens the door and finds Beth massaging Alan-Michael. After some snarky remarks from Lizzie, Beth runs after her. Lizzie drifts downtown and tries to sort out her feelings. She runs into Reva, who is talking to Josh on the phone. Reva gets off the phone and tells Lizzie that Josh's trial is going ahead but now he could face ten years or more. Lizzie knows how she feels: She lost the man she loved too...now she feels so guilty, so responsible. It's been hard for Reva to lose Josh, but she can't tell him what to do. There are so few good people like Josh in the world, but there are lots like her and Lizzie. As Lizzie begins to ramble, she apologizes for Tammy, but remains defensive. It's obvious that she knows something and Reva needs to know what it is. She tells Lizzie that she has another chance to be a good person. Lizzie awkwardly confesses that she knows where the gun that shot her grandfather is. Reva becomes livid and Lizzie defends her family, suggesting that Josh or Cassie might have just hid the gun there. 'If it was someone in your family, wouldn't you want to know?' Reva asks. Lizzie isn't sure, but Reva tells her to be proud of herself, hugs her and rushes off.

Back in Alan-Michael's office, it looks to Ava like he and Beth were spending 'quality time' together. While he tries to downplay this, Beth returns to ask for help looking for an earing. Reluctantly, Ava goes out in the hall with her and Beth starts questioning her on why Lizzie left so upset. Ava doesn't know. Beth asks if she'll be staying now that Alan-Michael is walking. She will be. Beth was in Ava's position once: It changes a person. Ava doesn't think it will change her. When Ava goes back in the office, Alan-Michael pulls her onto his lap and tells her to forget about Beth; she just likes stirring up trouble. Ava can't help but wonder if the family really does change a person though. They drop the topic and he tells her that he has a busy afternoon. Meanwhile, Lizzie returns to the mansion distraught and begins apologizing to her mother. When Beth asks what's wrong, Lizzie says that she feels awful and may have ruined everything. She just needs all the pain to go away. Beth promises to keep her safe from everyone and not to worry about anything. Left alone in the office, Ava is startled when Lizzie arrives to get some coffee. Seeing Ava, she remembers the hell that her mother made the mansion. Ava assures her that she is nothing like Olivia.

Alan-Michael goes to his room, lights candles and sets champagne to chill. A woman puts her hands over his eyes. 'You're early,' he smiles before being trapped into a kiss. When he turns around, he's shocked to see that it's Beth with a mischievous grin. Alan-Michael tells her to get out. She leaves, angry, saying that she 'hopes she's worth it.' Suddenly, the door bell rings. Looking at the surveillance camera, he is baffled to see Alan is a wheelchair sitting outside the door.

Birthday

Wednesday, March 14 2007

Beth walks into Alan-Michael's office and tells him that he's looking handsome. She congratulates him on helping her protect the family and gives him a kiss. She thinks that they could make a great team and invites him up to her room later. 'I already have plans,' he says. She's angry that he's brushing her off. He's been coming onto her since he came back to town. They share something deeper than what he has with Ava: A secret. After she leaves, he gets up and takes out the gun. Ava walks in, shocked to see that he's walking. She excitedly hugs him and he tells her that he was going to surprise her but she beat him to it. Backing away, she knows that he's been lying to her and accuses him of trying to get sympathy from her all of this time. 'Do you even care about anyone?' 'Yes you!' he shouts as she walks out.

As Ava walks along Main Street crying, he runs into Alexandra. Ava tells her that Alan-Michael lied to her. Alexandra won't even ask what this is about, but she does know that her nephew is capable of love. Ava returns to Alan-Michael's office and asks for the truth. He tells her that he couldn't walk after the accident and wasn't trying to get her pity. His feelings for her have always been genuine. He just wanted to surprise her, but she beat him to it. After a silence, he suggest that she should go, but she won't go without him. Climbing on his lap, she begins to kiss him.

Making a Deal

Tuesday, March 13 2007

Lizzie is at Cedars checking on Alan. Rick tells her that there is no change. She feels like she's in limbo and doesn't know how to feel; if only something would happen one way or the other... Meanwhile, in his office, Alan-Michael checks that the gun is in its hiding place and then dashes to his wheelchair when Ava knocks on the door. He unlocks the door and let's her in. She thinks that he's trying to hide his weakness, but he doesn't have to. With Josh's confession, at least the Spaulding are off the hook, she says as he tries to smile. Lizzie strides in, disgusted to see Alan-Michael and Ava. The two women start arguing until Ava excuses herself. Lizzie is horrified that Doris and Ashlee are circling around them like vultures. He knows that she isn't really upset about Ava, but has a lot of things to be upset about. Luckily, Josh confessed and they can put this behind them and start over as a family. She doesn't think this nightmare will ever be over for her though. Soon, Doris and Ashlee arrive to talk about the birthday party. Lizzie and Ashlee leave together. Lizzie unenthusiastically agrees to help just because 'your mother's look on her face, will be all the thanks I need.' Left alone, Lizzie vows that she won't spend one single birthday with Ashlee. The Wolfe's keep pushing their way into the family, but this has got to stop.

Doris has stayed behind to tell Alan-Michael hat he should come to Ashlee's birthday bash and give a toast. 'Sometimes I get the sense that you don't like me,' she says when he answers glumly. 'What gave me away?' he asks trying to get rid of her. Changing the subject, she says that she's been going through the books and has some ideas for the company. There's no way that he will let her go anywhere near the company, but she thinks that he's too distracted, namely by Ava. He doesn't take kindly to this and tells Doris that Ava is the lifeblood of the company and Doris should stay away. Ava has been eavesdropping and smiles.

Later, Ava asks Alan-Michael if women are ever after him only for his money and he asks her if men are after her only for her body. He knows that she's not the kind of girl that cares only about money and power. Since his accident, she's seen another side of him, a vulnerable side that has nothing to do with power. Lately, she's just been looking for excuses to spend more time with him. He always keeps her guessing and he really believes in her, she says as she gives him her hand. She becomes uncomfortable and starts pacing around the room until he pulls her onto his lap and into a kiss.
